Motley Monday Check in and Mooselaneous Musings

 photo P1000071_zpse8f6ba95.jpg

Good morning Motley Meese! Hope your weekend was lovely. I went up to Big Meadows in Shenandoah National Park to try out my new 60x ultra zoom camera. I give it 2 1/2 thumbs up.

PLEASE Don’t Recommend the check-in diary!

Fierces on the weather jar comment are still welcome.

The check-in is an open thread and general social hour.

It’s traditional but not obligatory to give us a weather check where you are and let us know what’s new, interesting, challenging or even routine in your life lately. Nothing is particularly obligatory here except:

Always remember the Moose Golden (Purple?) Rule:

Be kind to each other… or else.

What could be simpler than that, right?

  1. 70 degrees on its way up to 79 degrees. Storms expected all morning. We had storms most of yesterday evening in waves. Storm with lightning and thunder … then nothing for 15-20 minutes … then another wave of storms. Went on like that until about 11pm.

    Great deer shot, iriti!

It is now June and the undone projects promised for May have officially not been done on time. Today I tapdance around that fact which requires sending off emails with new target dates.

Have a great day, all y’alls!

Morning, iriti and meeses! That’s a great deer photo, iriti. I’m still clueless enough to rather like deer, but then, hoarse-voiced Monty Beagle mostly keeps them away from my backyard.

Went out looking for strawberries this morning, found some, brought them in for breakfast. As that wretched dog got me up before 6 a.m., I had time to bake almond croissants from Trader Joe’s. Dearly Beloved and Miss Pink Cheeks are enjoying them now.

We visited Mommy, Daddy, and baby brother at home yesterday. Miss PC will go home tonight for the first time since Thursday, but I’ll be picking her up early every morning. Next week she has summer camp from 9 to 1 every day, so she needs to get used to getting up at the earlier time.

Will today be the day I get those flowers planted and the garden weeded? Eh?

Thunderstorms tomorrow but today we’ll play. Hope everyone will have a good day!

  3. Republicans are outraged and the hypocrisy is deep. Former POW John McCain, released in a 1973 prisoner swap, was angry over the administration “negotiating with terrorists”. IOKIYAJM, I guess.

National Security Advisor Susan Rice was on all the Sunday shows and made it clear that, first, Congressional leaders knew that we were negotiating for his release since last year, and, two, there was no time to notify Congress because of concerns about the health of the prisoner:

On This Week, she explained that Bergdahl was not a “hostage,” but a “prisoner of war, taken on the battlefield,” and that the U.S. has a “sacred obligation” to free such prisoners of war. She also clarified on State of the Union that the U.S. did not negotiate directly with the terrorist Haqqani network, but with the government of Qatar, which will hold the five released Taliban prisoners for another year.

The Twittersphere was buzzing, as you can well imagine. Some of my favorites are NSFW but this pretty much captures how most people were feeling:

Blech Monday. We got upgraded to Windows 7 over the weekend. Sigh. So far, it is merely inconvenient. There’s an icon on the bottom for the media player (we’re not allowed to play media during work hours) but not for e-mail; you have to do “start”, then something, then something….. sigh. My team has 2 e-mail boxes that we switch back & forth from a lot. This is gonna be loads of fun. The e-mail from IT says we can “pin” it to the taskbar. Got no clue what that means.

Right now I’m eating toast & almond butter. Ate my apple in the car. Drinking strong tea. Voice was 90% at church yesterday. Didn’t sing along with the cd on the way in, so I don’t know if it still is good.

IT guy saw that I’m here & configured some stuff for me — and I get to test my voice, it’s working so far. And he did the “pin” thing. I forgot that Firefox is now on our computers, I’ll have to test it later.

Earworm: Just Say Yes unfortunately it’s the studio version, I’ll have to try to switch earworms later; but at least this is a bouncy song

weather: mid-70s for lows, mid-90s for highs — if we’re lucky, it won’t hit 100 this week, but this is Texas & we don’t get lucky with weather

However, I hate Windows 8 so much I’m thinking of getting a MacBook Air for a laptop. I’m getting somewhat used to Apple products with the iPhone and iPad but find Safari very difficult to navigate. Firefox is so much easier!

Some time in August I’ll become a Nanny-Granny. If my new grandson turns out to be a Sleeper I might get some work done during his naps.  ðŸ™‚

    Meanwhile, it’s still May 33.

haven’t slept this late in many months.

    Good morning Meese.

71 up to 80 in a few hours here by the Hudson.

Am going to attempt to get outdoors if I can wake up.

Need to hose the porch down and get all the chair cushions cleaned off.  The chickens soiled everything over the winter and now it’s warm enough for me to turn on the outside water and start cleaning.  This is usually done by the end of April.

Hard to believe it is June.

Will not be posting Bkos here tomorrow since we have the major reparations debate scheduled and it is really a very orange post so will not cross-post here.

    time for more java fuel

I’m used to a difficult time with the smaller devices, but yes, having no right click would drive me crazy too.

Grey managed to open a slider window and bust a screen early Saturday morning – I found him having an altercation with the next door kitteh late afternoon and managed to get him back on the porch.  All the guys are still making nasty noises at each other through the door.  I let Grey wander around the kitchen and den this morning – until he started peeing on Cloud’s pootie pad.  sigh.  Integration is never easy.

Got QC committee meeting tonight.  Otherwise, hopefully, a relatively quiet week.  (The brushfires I’ve already put out this morning don’t lend credence to that.)  My landline is still not working.  Trish found an AT&T package called UversePro + Voice 200 – intro $35/month with a 1-year contract – regular $66/month.  Anybody know anything about this?  Is it a sucker deal or a decent product?

Hope the weather is what you want it to be in Moosylvania 🙂  Take care, bf

I have to ignore the lure of plants and the garden today and focus on the desk mess….or else! Deferred taxes, unpaid bills, an ignored draft of the new will, files still full of 2013 papers, a basket full of 2014 filing to be done. Yikes!

The scary part is how much this no longer bothers me. My former self does not approve 🙂
