Friday Coffee Hour: Check In and Hangout for the Herd

Good morning, Moosekind. TGIF! Don’t forget to let your peeps know where to find you.

PLEASE Do Not Recommend the check-in diary!

Recs on the weather jar comment are still welcome.

Friday Coffee Hour and check-in is an open thread and general social hour. Come back when time allows through the day – the conversation continues.

It’s traditional but not obligatory to give us a weather check where you are and let us know what’s new, interesting, challenging or even routine in your life lately. Nothing is particularly obligatory here except:

Always remember the Moose Golden (Purple?) Rule:

Be kind to each other… or else.

What could be simpler than that, right?

65 here in the Shenandoah Valley, headed for a high of only 69. A real change from Tuesday & Wednesday’s highs in the mid 90’s. Speaking of Wednesday – sorry I missed you. My internet was down. And thanks, Jan F, for the save.

I haz a new phone. Hubs trs sent his iPhone to sleep with fishes…

No, I mean literally. He dropped it in the lake here in our community, never to be seen again. The fish may text and surf the web to their hearts’ content, as we have unlimited, but they better not run up our minutes!

Anyway, I struggle with eye strain. I keep everything I can – computer monitor, Kindle – set on large print to help make things easier. So I gave trs my almost new iPhone and I got one of these:

    5″ screen. I love it!

It is still very humid from the rain, but it’s better than those 90 degree days. Bullwinkle got me up to feed him the fudz, so he’s good. I have to do some shopping today or I will be out of fudz for the both of us.

    Have a good day everyone!

  3. 48 degrees in Madison WI on its way “up” to 66 degrees.

It is Friday of what seems like the longest week of the year. The short week last week coupled with starting my work week on Sunday this week has thrown off my internal clock. Yesterday was Friday and now … what the heck is today??

I did find this interesting coffee article for you about those who can’t be bothered with actually drinking coffee: Coming Soon: A Jolt Of Caffeine You Can Spray On Your Skin

Something called Sprayable Energy is coming soon to an online store. It is a topical caffeine spray. That’s right. So if you only drink coffee for the energy jolt, and not the taste or experience, you’ll soon be able to spray your skin to stay awake.

I drink coffee for the energy jolt but also because I love the taste and smell of coffee and the ritual of making coffee and how it tastes with cookies and other pastries. PLUS, who thinks this is a good idea? I remember taking No-Doz once when I was in high school and the first class started at 6am. I thought to myself “I am really tired …I’ll just take a couple more pills”. My heart was racing so fast I thought I would die. There is nothing you can do but wait for it to wear off. 🙁

we had torrential rains here yesterday – flooding on the NYS Thruway was so bad my husband didn’t get home from NYC till 11:30 PM.

More rain coming today. Hopefully with no hail. Heading off to school in 2 hours.

    Have a good day folks.

Rained last night, so creeks and streams will be up this morning. Runoff in the mountains is fast, which is one reason we have white water after a rain.

High today and tomorrow only room temperature. We are going to have color season in the mountains before you know it.

he had to put that triple-digit thing back in the forecast. But next week, if a hurricane/tropical storm hits Mexico just right, me might get rain. Even several days of it. Maybe even heavy rain if we’re really, really lucky. I feel bad saying that with the floods in Colorado, but our lakes are only 40% full, we really really need rain.

I put up a diary. You’ll be stunned, it’s an AIDS Walk diary

funny – my song for the diary is Elevation, but my earworm, for 2 days now, is Love & Peace (or Else).

Looks like a room temperature day Here Near DC also.

How do you talk on an iPhone when it’s the size of your hand? Isn’t it awkward to hold it next to your head?

Yesterday evening we had “scattered showers” of epic proportions. Between thunderclaps Katie decided very casually to come up onto the sofa and snuggle, which she never does any more. Doing me a big favor, she was, and I let her know I appreciated it. This is Katie before she had a big scar on her tummy.

We turned off the a.c. last night before dinner, so during the night I felt really hot.  Had to switch the fan on and open the window.  We seem to have had what the weather person described as “a stray sprinkle” just now and that’s all to the good.  The grass already looks less desperate.  Wish we’d get some more rain.

Busy, busy day ahead–library morning today with my beloved niece and great-nephew, then we’re going to Trader Joe’s.  I have to wait until she gets here at 10 before I can enjoy a cup of coffee, but I’ve had lots of tea.

Need to knock down more apples, then clean my office because I’ve got a coffee date tomorrow with a friend in New Orleans.  He just got FaceTime on his iPhone. Have to tidy up the flat downstairs for the family that’s moving in tomorrow. The good news–their offer on a new house has been accepted! Even better news–my precious granddaughter will attend the same elementary school her father and her uncle attended. And Grandma will walk her to school every morning and back in the afternoon.  It won’t be until next year that she’s old enough for kindergarten, but I’m already thinking of the gingerbread, molasses cookies, and brownies we’ll make after school. Talk about leaps of imagination!  😉

Been having trouble with the Moose and my browser not getting along. Today, they seem to have kissed and made up, though.

Beautiful, cool morning here in northern Delawhere. I’m looking at going to a spin-in tomorrow, so I have to prepare for that. My wheel’s bobbins are full, so I need to wind them off before I spin anything else.

so not quite to 80 today – I turned off the A/C and left the window to the porch open for the kittehs to run in and out (porch is enclosed) which they love.  ‘Sposed to get down to the 50s tonight – my bedroom windows will be open 🙂 Blessings upon everyone who sent me blessings this week.  I won’t say the situation is better but tensions have eased.  While I can still see the cliff edge, I’m not in danger of going over at the moment.  Have a wonderful Friday and an even more wonderful weekend.  I’ll drop back if I can but otherwise I’ll check in Monday.  {{{HUGS}}} bf

Justin, my ever so appreciated computer guy, just installed a repeater router in the upstairs of our old house and now my new computer is finally working as it should. So now I’m all set to enjoy a quiet morning of reading and resting…and elevating my friggen leg!

Perhaps I should work on an attitude adjustment as well….
