Wednesday Watering Hole: Check In & Hangout for the Herd

Good morning, Moosekind. Don’t forget to let your peeps know where to find you.

PLEASE Do Not Recommend the check-in diary!

Recs on the weather jar comment are still welcome.

The common Moose, Alces alces, unlike other members of the deer family, is a solitary animal that doesn’t form herds. Not so its rarer but nearest relative, Alces purplius, the Motley Moose. Though sometimes solitary, the Motley Moose herds in ever shifting groups at the local watering hole to exchange news and just pass the time.

The morning check-in is an open thread and general social hour. Come back when time allows through the day – the conversation continues.

It’s traditional but not obligatory to give us a weather check where you are and let us know what’s new, interesting, challenging or even routine in your life lately. Nothing is particularly obligatory here except:

Always remember the Moose Golden (Purple?) Rule:

Be kind to each other… or else.

What could be simpler than that, right?

68 degrees here in the Shenandoah Valley, headed for a high of 82 with a chance of rain again. I don’t mind: First, we need the rain and second, it has been so dry since trs moved here in 2010 that he has never seen our fall foliage in all its glory. Maybe this is the year!

  2. It is 73 degrees here in Madison WI on its way up to 79. Hot and dry for the next couple of days then a front will cool us down. What, you say? Isn’t 79 cool? No.

I had Inbox angst over the weekend so I changed out how I manage my helpdesk function on Monday and it is not working. I was focusing so much on keeping my Inbox clean that I forgot to do triage. Now my Inbox is tidy but I did not work on the most important projects and now I am sadly out of sync with my priority list. Now I know how my Inbox gets out of control: I am working on projects! And getting stuff done!!

I blame Outlook 2010. I used to have colored flags to manage my prioritization (must do, research and get back to, ask for more information). Now I have one color, red. A whole inbox of red flags is useless.

So off to figure out what the heck I am supposed to be doing today. I am pretty sure it is not hanging around on the Internets with meeses even though that is what I would prefer to do.

    Great images!!

It’s going to be in the 70’s here with thunderstorms to liven things up.

My computer problems are not as clamorous. let alone glamorous, as Jan’s but I am struggling with Word 2013. Have made some progress and am in a better mood.

Getting my hair cut at noon and can hardly wait. It’s a Japanese place that gives head, neck, and shoulder massage. Now to find coffee, the news, and my lists of things to do that should have been done last week.

Have a great day, Meeses. May all your problems be solved!

Cool but humidity rising. I really wish it would rain at this point. I’d love further cooler sunny days, but the trees and yard are begging for some significant rainfall.

going up to 75 the hordes of guests are heading north  so I’m cooking.

Will be back very latte if I survive the invasion 🙂

Rain is fine.  Sunny days are fine.  But a day when all the sky does is glower, rather than produce raindrops fallin’ on my head, is useless.  However, we are able to keep the a.c. off, so I suppose that’s something.

Off to the dermatologist this afternoon–also a stop to donate backpacks, brand-new underwear, and a gift card for shoes to the “Back to School” campaign. The gift cards for haircuts are being provided by a single donor this year, from what I understand.

Still have to clean up this dreadful house–the family room looks sort of okay now, just needs vacuuming and polishing nearer the time–but the dining room and Dearly Beloved’s office are a wreck.  My office is a wreck too, but at least it’s upstairs, not on public view.

    Everyone have a good day!

I went all holler & scream on R last night when she came over. Wasn’t her, it was just everything, and she let me let it out. I feel much better this morning.

Katie doesn’t get her staples out until next monday. Her surgery was a week ago Friday, but David is on vacation this week. I’m hoping the staples don’t somehow heal into her skin after all that time. Never mind, I trust David to know what he’s doing.

That’s right, now that I think of it, the foliage in Iriti’s neck of the woods hasn’t been at its best the last couple of years. Maybe this year it will be and if so I’ll be sure to go over and make photographs.

My A/C is broken. Sigh. They’re coming between 8-10, so that’s ok, but all of my credit cards are near their max. I really need my brother to have already sent that check for half my mom’s bank account. Bigger sigh.

Anyway, not going to work, at least for the morning.

Eating breakfast, watching tv, drinking tea.

lightning and thunder this morning, went to the computer to look at radar and prepared to be slammed by some heavy duty storms.  Not a drop fell here but massive amounts of rain continue to my south.  Lots of flooding (one of the small streams near Waynesville rose 26 feet in less than 20 hours).  It was in the upper 80s yesterday but by the end of the week we’ll be in the mid-70s.  Not the typical Missouri summer.

Low 50s and foggy. Predicted high: 60°F here in the Outside Lands (west side of town), slightly warmer downtown (east side).

I’ve delayed our company arriving until Thursday with the hopes the sewer drain that backed up into the basement will please please get fixed today. The plumbers were here for 2 hrs yesterday, but the day ended with the drain still blocked.

So I’ve got a mess….half done laundry, quickly moved and unpacked and waiting to be cleaned ( because it got wet) and then put away boxes of my MIL’s and the boat stuff, and a general grumpy attitude!

I get checkbook worries when plumbers need to come back the next day…..
