Motley Monday Check in and Mooselaneous Musings

Good morning Motley Meese! Hope your weekend was lovely. Remember to let your peeps know where you are!

Here’s today’s Motley Monday Shot of the Week, taken last week at Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs.

Garden of the Gods (51 of 59)

The morning check-in is an open thread and general social hour. Come back when time allows through the day – the conversation continues.

It’s traditional but not obligatory to give us a weather check where you are and let us know what’s new, interesting, challenging or even routine in your life lately. Nothing is particularly obligatory here except:

Always remember the Moose Golden (Purple?) Rule:

Be kind to each other… or else.

What could be simpler than that, right?

    Sorry I’m late. Overslept!

68 here, heading for a high of 84. Back to work after a week of vacation – should be exciting.

    Happy Monday!

  2. I love that pine cone photo! I hope you will do a photo diary of your visit to Garden of the Gods.

I do not envy you going back to work after a week of “vacation” (I put that in quotes because I happen to know that it was not exactly an R&R type of vacation for you). You will face the dreaded Inbox From Hell (with the temptation to Select All, Delete) and, I am sure, assorted crises that were waiting for you rather than handled by your co-workers.

Take it slow and easy and remember this advice “Drink Moar Coffee”.

68 degrees here on its way up to “too hot for me”.

    Have a great day!!

After a miserable day yesterday the prep continues, then more blood tests, then the exam……

This afternoon can’t come soon enough! As I whine however, I think of my neighbor, a lovely woman facing yet another round of chemo and then a dreadful surgery for the type of cancer this exam screens for. And thanks to avoidance and life interfering I’m two years overdue.

    I will now resume whining…..

Ate too  much over the weekend, will have to pay for it this week. Not much happened. Today is going to be a busy day doing all the housework I didn’t do over the weekend.

Princesspat, that sounds like a rigorous regimen you’re on–hope it’s over soon. You must be feeling exhausted.

    Everyone have a good day!

decent day in the low 80’s going to high 80’s by the end of the week.  Do I have to go to work???  Yeah, if I want to pay my bills…

Nothing special planned for my day off.  I’m just going to take care of personal business.  And, if at all possible, catch a nap!

Have a strom afixing to hit. Darker than it should be this time of morning and all the topsoil from Oklahoma is blowing horizontally.

Thunderstorm has just arrived as I sit snuggly inside my old building.

Hope everyone has a good week.

We had a great day yesterday. Worked in the house and visited my husbands family.  The kids had a ball playing and eating.  I love when the visits go smoothly.  It is such a big family (I am from a smaller one) that I get overwhelmed and someone is always upset with someone else.  Yesterday was one of the better gatherings.

Super-thick fog outside right now. But it actually burned off yesterday afternoon and the band concert I attended was held under sunny skies. After the concert we went to the museum’s cafe just across from the bandshell for a light lunch. Then we went to the museum’s observation tower for the 360-degree views of the City.

I walked a LOT yesterday and am a little sore, but I’ll survive. Today, an early lunch overlooking the Pacific at the Cliff House. Tomorrow I plan to nap a lot! 🙂

Supposed to get storms later in the day.

Had too much fun yesterday and I’m not draggin’ my way through this Monday morning.

Hope everyone has a good start to their week.

Khloe and I are catching up on our sleep. It got quite cool last night, making for good snoozing.

expected to go up to four score today. I keep telling myself that November will soon be here.

  13. I ordered the last 2 prescriptions covered by our “old” insurance. One of them is for my migraine medicine, and I think I’ll have a stockpile of it that should last me several months. Surprisingly, that isn’t the most expensive one. The worst is an old ointment that should be nearly free, but instead retails at about $150 or more a tube. Crazy. More than one pharmacist has suggested buying OTC substitutes, somewhat less effective but certainly cheaper.

…and not yet done drinking coffee this morning. I hate it when that happens. I do have an emergency stash of non-dairy creamer but it’s just not the same.

Meanwhile, I saw the sun peek through for about five minutes, but now the fog has taken over again. It’s going to be one of those days.

  16. roasted asparagus and mushrooms
  17. butter lettuce salad with apples and dried cranberries
  18. rhubarb cookies and vanilla ice cream
  19. Doesn’t that sound good??

And the weather should be perfect for eating on the deck.

Leaving at 10:30 to walk to my friends hotel. Will get there at 11:00 and from there we’ll take a cab to the Cliff House, where they open for lunch at 11:30.

I’m still feeling sluggish even after three cups of coffee and feeling a tad resentful at having to actually get up from the computer. Hopefully a good lunch will improve my mood. 😉

Foot is still sore – I think the protective gel pad is actually causing part of the soreness.  I’ve got permission to try going without it, so as soon as I get home from work off it comes!  Almost got the Annual Report to the stage where the Chair takes over.  On the other hand only half the faculty have answered my plea for Spring 2014 class requests. Of course they aren’t officially here being 9-month contract people – but that doesn’t keep the Powers That Be from giving me a deadline for having this done and entered that isn’t possible if I don’t start now.  Sigh.  {{{HUGS}}} bf

After eating we took a walk down the esplanade along Ocean Beach, where the howling wind sandblasted us both fresh new complexions. I found sand in my pockets and in my ears!

Luckily the wind was strong, but not really cold, and the sun had burnt off all the fog to quite a distance from the coast so the scenery was lovely.

It was a fairly long walk which was probably very healthy after the nice meal and even nicer cocktails, LOL! Now I’m off to put my feet up and relax with my Kindle.

I’m not whining at all, but wore a lightweight shawl that I could pull up over the back of my neck when Bill-the-dog took our afternoon walk.

Papa Barred Owl made a food delivery to one of the babies while we sat and watched – a medium sized rodent this time. Baby squealed and hissed over its luck, then carried its meal off to a place deeper in the woods. The other owlets hissed from nearby trees. All three of this nest’s babies are flying well now.

One of the southern nest Bald Eagles sat in the usual roost tree while the eaglets cried and cried from the nest. They haven’t ventured up to the edge of the nest yet so I can’t tell how many are in the clutch.
