Motley Monday Check in and Mooselaneous Musings

Good morning Motley Meese! Hope your weekend was lovely. Remember to let your peeps know where you are!

Here’s today’s Motley Monday Shot of the Week. Right now I’ll be throwing in some favorites from my archives, but once the weather warms (which it is finally showing signs of doing) I’ll post my week’s best shot.

Grist Mill, Babcock State Park, WV

The morning check-in is an open thread and general social hour. Come back when time allows through the day – the conversation continues.

It’s traditional but not obligatory to give us a weather check where you are and let us know what’s new, interesting, challenging or even routine in your life lately. Nothing is particularly obligatory here except:

Always remember the Moose Golden (Purple?) Rule:

Be kind to each other… or else.

What could be simpler than that, right?

And now, on with the show…

With apologies to Silks

45 degrees this fine morning headed for a high of 52.

Got our taxes done this weekend, and both Uncle Sam and the Commonwealth are going to cough up some cash. Very cheering, as I was afraid we might owe this year.

    How was your weekend?

  2. 27 degrees in Madison WI. According to the weather guessers, one more cold day then we have 40s and 50s the rest of the week. What? You think 40s and 50s are cold? Not in Wisconsin in HOLYMACKERALHOWDIDTHATHAPPEN April.

I better get to work. PLEASE keep Nurse Kelley out of trouble. And watch out for Khloe … it is April 1.

    Later!!

28 degrees with a high of 35. It snowed again. The snow seems to have put me in a mood. Sad but true. Have a good day everyone, and watch out for my grumps.    ðŸ˜‰

It really is 42 degrees here in central NJ, and this is not an April Fools’ Day joke.

Best get on the road a little early as the combination of Monday + rain will likely confuzzle all the other drivers this morning.  Best wishes for a Fool-free April 1st.!

Going back to work today after missing most of last week with the flu. Still dragging, but hoping that will get better as the day goes on.

Reason behind today’s FMF Poll: Kidlet gets her driver’s license tomorrow!

    In the meantime…

Didn’t sleep all that well last night and it’s 25F out there this morning.

Does anyone have any idea on how I can protect the keys on a computer keyboard from the letters wearing off??  I’m very hard on keyboards, the ‘R’ key will be worn off in 6-9 months.  I think it’s caused by a combination of acids in the skin oils and finger nails that are typically 1/8-1/4 inch in length (I trim them down when too many of them are uneven length and/or I feel that they’re getting in the way of typing).

It’s so NICE to see the sun again!  We had a rainy Easter, but I made sure the cake was frosted with lemon-yellow icing, the tablecloth was yellow, and the traycloth for the before-dinner drinks was yellow.  It brightened up the gray day a bit.

It was great having the family over for Easter dinner; today we get to wash all the good china, clean the silver, and put it all back until the next feast day.

Lots of writing to do today–if it would just warm up a tiny bit, we could plant potatoes and put the latest grow-beds together.  I’m really looking forward to this waist-high gardening thing–this year I might grow my own ingredients for ratatouille.

Everyone have a good day–I’m hoping to get to the gym, after breakfast–see you later!

a Manhattan that will soon be baking in a sixty degree

    temperature.

It’s the beginning of April so for those

Meese whose Middle English is better than mine (which means

    everyone)……..

WHAN that Aprille with his shoures soote

The droghte  of Marche hath perced to the roote,

And bathed every veyne in swich  licour,

    Of which vertu engendred is the flour;

Whan Zephirus eek with his swete breeth

Inspired hath in every holt  and heeth

The tendre croppes, and the yonge sonne

Hath in the Ram his halfe cours y-ronne,

    And smale fowles maken melodye,

That slepen al the night with open ye,

(So priketh hem nature in hir corages:

Than longen folk to goon on pilgrimages,

some local weather-wizard played April Fool a bit early by adding a slight chance of snow to today’s forecast.  Not there now but it isn’t going to get much warmer than it is now (low 40s).  After a week off, I’m going back to the pool today and perhaps work up enough enthusiasm to scrub and vacuum.  I can only imagine Keke’s reaction to the vacuum cleaner.  Heh.

Unseasonably cool  for the next few days.  Sun is out though.  Trip to the library on tap for today.  Have a great one!

  13. I discovered a bright new comet in the predawn sky today. Binoculars revealed it to be a jet far far away with a short vapor trail. It looked like a comet. But, the tail was pointing the wrong direction.

Three blue jays and a crow had a hootenanny in the trees out back this morning. Maybe a cat was walking through that I didn’t see.

we’re supposed to reach the high 80s so that’s hot enough to spark up a thunderstorm, could be exciting this afternoon. We turn all the electronics off and unplug them since we’ve lost a few, mostly to the surge when the power comes back on. I enjoy watching the storms and the dog enjoys having a lap to snuggle in, thunder seems to be the only thing that scares her.

It’s 55°F and raining in the City by the Bay. We got 1/2 inch or so yesterday and every bit helps. I have one must-do errand today but otherwise plan to keep inside with morning coffee and afternoon tea.

I hope you find something to make you smile as you go about your Monday business! 😀

Rain this morning in “sunny” Central California. No complaints, we need the rain. A quilting Sunday after brunch with the family. I’ll be attached to my quilting machine all day again today.

    Have a good one all!

I’ve been up for an hour now and have seen hardly any new comments here. Are you all hiding out somewhere else, snickering at my haplessness? 😉

like crazy right next to my head last night but she didn’t actually hork up anything, thank goodness.

Goldfinch and little brown bird are back. Are they an interracial couple? They’re inseparable.

Hate to post and run but I have errands before the ball game starts. TTYL.

heading for 60s and pretty but dropping to low 30s tonight in Fayetteville, AR. First day of priority registration, a test for a class of 450 tying up the copy machine, a speaker for an Honor Society event just showed up and took over our conference room, professors are asking us for C.C.’s sake what their enrollment requirements are, and students are trying to get into classes they have no business trying to get into at their grade level – AND I’ve got 2 Quorum Court meetings after work.  (And I’ve been interrupted 6 times since starting to write this comment.)  Anybody got the Okiciyap link?  I want to set up automatic donations now that they can do that but I can’t find it.  Thanks and y’all take care, bf

Cardinal is eating from feeder next to me while Katie sits on the lounge 6 ft away watching him. Spring is here.

Those pills I’ve been taking 4 times a day? My doctor switched the Rx to extended-release so I won’t have to do that. Happy I am.

…managed to time it perfectly between showers. Not a drop hit my innocent head. 🙂

Out in the neighborhood it’s very quiet today, partly because it’s Monday and a lot of shops are closed. As I passed by the co-op bakery I saw them having their weekly meeting behind closed (glass) doors. As always, I wish I could be a fly on the wall. Anything “co-op” fascinates me.

The donut shop was open (it always is, 24/7) and I stopped in for a blueberry muffin and some hazelnut coffee, which is the best of the eight(!) flavors they sell there. Now I’m home again and happy to have kicked my shoes off for the rest of the day.

Tonight: Dancing With The Stars, one of the more innocent of my guilty pleasures. 🙂
