WEEKLY RUMINATIONS

Hi there everyone.  We made it through another week and into the sequester we go.  Sometimes I just can’t believe the idiocy that reigns in congress.  Lets see what happens now.  My congressman has gotten emails from me.  My senators have heard from me.  My facebook feed is full of uninformed ranting from people I haven’t seen since college (in a very red state).  Methinks it is time for a facebook vacation.

Lets get to it folks.  What are you ruminating on this week?

I like the work at my current job, but the workplace culture is just a huge misfit for me. I dread going to work every day anymore.

Yesterday afternoon I sent an e-mail to the General Manager of my previous employer (left less than 2 years ago) and called my boss there to see if they might have any opportunities for me. They would take me back in a heartbeat if they have anything suitable, but the odds of there being something at this exact moment are small.

So time to dust off and freshen up my resume and see what I can find.

I can’t fix the first and the second has (Praise tha Lard!) already been fixed, so I’m obsessing about a certain dental implant. Four weeks after final installation of three molar implants, one of the crowns began to disintegrate. My dentist will, of course, replace it without charge, but … the zirconium head it’s built around, the head that attaches to a titanium post in my jaw, won’t come off. My perfectionist of a dentist installed it to by-God-last-forever!

Other than that, I’m praying for more snow. We had over seventeen inches in February, leaving us only elebenty gazillion inches behind what we need.

  3. tonight begins the “National Day of Unplugging.” I think I’ll go offline for 2 or 3 days, starting now. If you need me, call the landline. It actually IS plugged in, but … old school.

    Have a great weekend!

It’s either that or just lose it. Dr’s appt today, seems stress is not a good thing for lupus management and I’ve been stressed for a long while now.

My oldest son lost his job back in Nov. and he’s up for two jobs, if you have any positive energy to spare, we would very much appreciate it.

I’m worried sick over the Medicaid cuts and what they may mean for my daughter. There is no more fat to trim, we’re looking at cutting clear to the bone now. Worried about the sequester because my spouse works for a company with a federal contract. We’re already hearing noise about furloughs. He has top seniority and union backing, but until we know for sure what’s possible or what will happen it’s certainly unsettling.

As far as my congress varmints go..I’m in Texas, ’nuff said. And I’m another one tired of my Facebook page being full of ignorant uninformed photoshopped pictures. If the sequester carries on, many of the people in my community are going to feel the pinch and I dread the wailing against Obama and the Democratic party that will be louder than ever before.

But on the upside, spring is around the corner and I’m still kickin’ :o) Gotta celebrate that!

the media is looking to influence public opinion to place the blame on the sequester on Obama.

ABC’s Nightly News report was basically “But Obama said this wouldn’t happen and didn’t do anything to stop it…”

then didn’t go into detail about Congress, except that they weren’t in session and that was somehow Obama’s fault.

On the other hand, anyone else find it kinda funny that after years of “DEFICIT, DEFICIT, CUT SPENDING!!” We’re finally did and everyone’s in a tizzy about it?

It’s almost as if all the deficit, spending cut talk was disingenuous

see some sun this weekend! It’s been so long I can hardly remember what it looks like, and that is not an exaggeration.

    Grumpy MM weather post:

So that’s wonderful news, now it just has to happen.

Second, had a long talk with a colleague about working together to expand our business. We’ve met in person before and he’s quite a young guy, but a very good translator and all around nice person, so I think we may be able to get something off the ground. The only bad thing is less time to play on the intertubez.

So all in all it’s been a middlin’ week with a pretty good ending. Hope everyone gets their wishes, whatever they are: New job, good health for yuz and the pooties/woozles, etc. And just so you waste even more time on the internet, here’s a live webcam of Great Dane pups only a few days old. The ones suited to it will be trained as service dogs. I’ve posted this before, but maybe not everyone has seen it. There are 10 puppies, called pimentos, because Mom is Olive, and she was STUFFED with 12 babies, 2 were stillborn.

business opportunities. i always found it very exciting to meet folks who shared my interest and vision and who i felt i could work closely with, didn’t happen that often but when it did i always took advantage of it.

sorry to have to post this below those happy Dane pups but i need to talk. right after i checked into the morning diary yesterday i walked into work to the awful news that my long term special care woozle, Paris was put down. i needed to talk with someone but i didn’t want to cloud the atmosphere in the check in diary so i’m posting it here.

I was her primary caregiver for almost 2 years.

as you know jk, Frenchies sometimes have a whole host of health issues, Paris had arthritis specifically in her hips which made it painful for her to walk sometimes. she lived on the second floor of a walkup so my daily routine with her was to carry her up and down the stairs so she could do her business and coax her to get some excercise.

she was a really sweet, affectionate and smart Frenchie, very expressive. she always gave me cues on how she was feeling on a particular day, not always up to the task of being jostled and i never pushed the issue. on her not so great days we would just hang out together as she lay on her big fluffy pillow at the foot of the steam radiator.

early on, the owners who are really great, devised a plan to coax her walks with carrot and celery treats which I would give Paris during her walks. as we walked she would constantly look back to spy if i was putting my hand in my pocket and if i was, she would instantly stop, turn around and wait just as she is in the pic. having those treats really helped us bond and gain her trust.

my daughter who is a veg loved the story of a vegetarian Frenchie.

one day as i was taking Paris down the stairs and as always was wearing my headphones and scritching her chin on the way down, she would snort as all Frenchies do when they get rubbies. having a Frenchie myself i snorted back, rather loudly, overcompensating because of the headphones and as i reached a turn in the landing, the maintenance man was standing on the stairs staring at me with his mouth open. all he heard was a human walking down the stairs snorting, we both had a big laugh when he saw Paris and realized i was not insane.

i really loved that dog and will miss her greatly. i’ll miss the kindness of her owners too, S and B. S would often bake treats for me, i could tell she was a good cook having been a chef for a few years. her bicsotti were the best i’d ever tasted. they were both owners who truly loved and doted on their wonderful dog and this is being written for them too. they made sure it was ok for me to contact them if i needed to talk. i wanted to yesterday but it was just too difficult.

this has been a tough month for this walker having lost Shauna just a few weeks ago. jk, i thought you might understand how incredibly rewarding but difficult caregiving is, you being a vet.

i’m heartbroken for S and B. Paris was a favorite of mine. i had planned on writing a special diary for her, i just wasn’t really prepared to write this one. i did get the opportunity to visit with her one last time and i’m really grateful for that.

    Paris will be missed.

    peace.

  8. To save money, this budget bash is about to gush over three quarters of a billion dollars from America’s space budget directly into the coffers of the Russians.  Penny wise and billion dollar foolish.

We have a cooperative relationship with Russia to launch and return astronauts and supplies to the space station. The US has been developing a launch capability to replace the Shuttle program. The sequestration will delay that program. We will need to pay them about $400 million for each additional year of launches.
