Don’t forget to let your peeps know where to find you!

Happy Motley Monday herd. Hope your weekend was lovely. Mine was productive yet lazy all at once, everything a weekend should be.

Before we begin, some important miscellaneous reminders:

Always remember the Moose Golden (Purple?) Rule:

Be kind to each other… or else.

– Ratings: Fierce means Thumbs Up, Fail means Thumbs Down, Meh means one of three things: I am unFailing you but I can’t Fierce you, I am unFiercing after a mistaken Fierce, or Meh. Just Meh.

And one from me:

Refugees from a site of a different color BEWARE! Placement of the ratings buttons is the opposite of what you’re used to. Fierce (that’s good) is on the right, Fail (that’s bad) is on the left and there’s an extra Meh in the middle. Until your habits change be careful. I’ve failed or meh-d some terrific folks!

And now, on with the show…

here in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. Changing to regular rain AFTER my morning commute and allegedly heading for a high of 46.

Tomorrow we were supposed to hit 64, with the long awaited return of the shiny yellow orb that’s been so long absent from the skies. Today’s weather report now says cloudy tomorrow and rainy Wednesday, with the orb’s return delayed until Thursday.

    They taunt me.

  2. 34 degrees in Madison WI. We got our ice and snow and I can hear the plows out front. A couple of rural school districts in the area have delayed the start of school and I will be watching the school closings site. If there is no news by 6am, they will have school at the regular time. Last night at 11pm there was a nice coating of glare ice on everything. Oh and we have a dense fog alert until noon.

If I can get my work done, I am going to post something mid-morning about online news sites.

In the meantime: it is January and there is still too much to do before 1/31/2013.

Right now, it’s 32 degrees. But the temp has been going up and down all night. It’s expected to hit 45 later. We did get 3 inches of snow at the start of last night. As the night went on it cycled between freezing rain, snow, and sleet. The weatherman just predicted some freezing fog within the next hour. A person could get whiplash trying to keep up our weather.

Being from Michigan and all, you would expect we all know how to drive in constantly changing weather, but……

has been. Today is my first day of the spring semester. At least I have no evening classes this semester. I will be out of class by 5 today.

Supposed to start off as snow before finishing as rain.  Tomorrow is the beginning of a nice, 2-day, warm up that will quickly go away.

For once I’m here before there are a hundred comments to read. 😉

Of course it’s utterly barbaric, given that it’s 3:30AM here on the West Coast. But I’m always happy to say hello.

Cold-ish, low 40s, but I’m all covered up in sweats while on a break from trying to sleep.

Boy howdy was Downton Abbey good last night. I’ve decided that I’m not unhappy that episodes are only an hour long: I can only hold my breath for so long waiting to see what will happen next. 😀

May you all have as pleasant a Monday as possible. I’ll be napping for at least part of it!

NY – I’m running late – in a rush to get out to school since I’ll have to drive slowly

Will check in during my lunch break – have a good day folks!

everything is a sheet of ice here, which should disappear once things get about 2&deg warmer. Lydia is driving me nuts, demanding that she be let into the bedroom so she can bully her way into eating the rest of Gaffer’s food. Ain’t. Gonna. Happen.

Freezing rain and slippery roads here, so gov’t workers go in today at noon, most schools are closed. However, I am still going to my tennis class, because I am a nut. Got cell phone and AAA card 😉

See you all later, and have a great day. <—-I was going to put an exclamation point there, but then I remembered it’s Monday. 🙂

coming for a few days.  Going to visit Sadie this morning, maybe soon some answers will be found.  Paws crossed.

I have a hopeful and a sad today.

The hopeful is for a friend who has a job interview this morning.

The sad is for teacherken’s wife who has a spinal mass discovered on MRI as part of a work up prior to pain management.  She’s a very nice lady who reached out to me when he got snippy with me one time.  He is asking for her to be held in the light.  And so I am.  I thought it appropriate to be sure everyone knew so they could do the same if they wanted to.

all i heard yesterday was the sound of frustrated folks trying to scrape ice of their windshields, today it’s all gone. 45 and climbing, no matter. i haven’t been out since friday. my flu fog is finally clearing. vile stuff.

    ok, a word about diary templates: F R U S T R A T I N G. that is all.

    on a constructive note, does anyone know the code or procedure for setting text along side a pic? that would be really helpful, seems like there are some code fiends in this thread. :-}

oh and i’ll have a diary up later this morning.

  12. pittiepat

the temperature around 70.  Tomorrow we’ll be under the gun for severe storms.  Hope we just get the rain.

  13. LabWitch

temps yesterday were in the 70s, still a bit cool (for me anyway, but my temperature is almost unregulable)but it’s foggy out.  the last noaa forecast i read stated that we were going to have a spring weather situation this evening into tomorrow which means the possibility of severe thunderstorms, threat of tornadic activity, etc.  i hope not.

have an eye doc appt later, he has to check once a month to make certain that the steroid drops i have to take so that my eyes don’t get super irritated due to my disease, haven’t raised the pressure in them too high.  we’re on the cusp of that so i may have to put up with some irritations if we have to stop the drops.  such is life.  i’d rather have my eyesight and irritation than no eyesight.

then i have to go to walgreens and straighten out why, after only 8 days of three pills a day (the scrip was for 90) there are only 45 left.  they’re locked up and go with me in a locked case everywhere so no one is taking them.  then there’s the hydrocodone, supposed to be 60, i have only taken 8, there are 40 left.  dammit, what is wrong with people who are supposed to be trusted!  i’ll likely have to change pharmacies, but who can you trust?

oh well, piddly problems compared to so many people’s.

i’ll be checking in and out today.  not a super busy monday, but, not a lightweight one either.  still working on hubby’s sleeping cap.  have new patterns for great panda hats for both kids and adults. now i just need to find people to make them for.  helps with the stiffness in my hands.

have a nice quiet and safe day all.

I was out gardening yesterday in a short-sleeved shirt and saw an orange and black butterfly. Goldfinches are gobbling up the thistle and little seed mix, trying to go from their drab gray-green to the bright yellow mating wardrobe before they head north. I like to think of my little back yard as their all-you-can-eat buffet, open 24 hours a day.

  15. Moozmuse

I made some this morning and while tasting wondered why it seemed a little bit more tangy than usual. Have you ever put cayenne into oatmeal instead of cinnamon? 🙁 I had inadvertently traded their usual places and didn’t read the label. Luckily I hadn’t gone overboard on it, so it’s still palatable, but with a kind of interesting ZING to it. Oh, well, note to self: next time READ the damn labels!

heading our way. Just a few days ago, the temps were down in the teens at night and the kids got a day off school on Friday due to the ice on the roads. It’s supposed to get up to nearly  70 one day this week, and tomorrow night, we might get severe thunderstorms–our local weatherguy thinks some areas–particularly the south–may be at risk of a tornado outbreak over the next few days.

  17. rb137

I do not know anything about the weather today. I am here in the dark, and can’t quite bring myself to turn on the lights. (Starting into a computer backlight is waking me up, though.) I expect a beautiful day, though. A little rainy, but balmy (low 40’s).

I hope all the icy road folk are safe and warm…

Aye. Nation’s gain is state’s loss. I am so not ready for another campaign. As the subject of why MA dems leaders would be so stupid as to have a special election for senator was one of the impetuses for my migrating purpleward, an explanation of the MA situation follows in a separate post.

  19. Jk2003

Had a showing in the middle of it all so we took the family out for pizza.  It was the most successful restaurant experience we have had with our dear two year old in over a year.  I even got to sit long enough to drink a beer.  Lots of fog here this AM in the forties today.  Almost 60 tomorrow.  In northern Illinois.  In January.  Weird. Whatever, we are going outside in the rain today.  My little one has a puddle behind the house he obsesses over.  I’m gonna let him roll in it tomorrow if he wants to.  Have a great day all.  I may not be back a naptime, my 5 year old wants to do math today (for real, she is like that).

Should be a beautiful spring day here in D/FW.

That’s a problem. A welcome problem for the moment but a problem nonetheless.

Hope everyone has a great week.

A law bars the governor from naming a permanent replacement to prevent Romney from appointing a Republican successor if Kerry won in 2004.

The governor names an interim senator sits. The interim senator can be a candidate.

The interim may be former rep. Barney Frank but Franks is not likely to run and the gov. prefers that the Interim not run.

  22. Clearing storm and sharp crisp air this morning.  I saw an article this morning that stated people in North Korea are literally eating their children.  This world is so fucked up sometimes I wonder if we’ll make it.

  23. raina

so warm we had to turn on a/c for the past week or so.

I predict another cold spell before winter here ends.

And I’m eating oatmeal right now.

  24. DavidW

The low last night was around 70. Gorgeous out but we are so screwed if there is no winter to cool down the ocean. Makes for prime hurricane breeding grounds. But will try not to think about all that and enjoy the day. Painting tonight and tomorrow, so off to do some drawings. Hope all you Meeses have a great Monday!

  25. LeftOverFlowerChild

It’s been a busy hectic day, one of those gosh can I get a do-over kind of days. I’m screamin’ uncle but I’m thinkin’ the powers that be ain’t listenin’. Tea, jasmine tea using the pretty violet tea set did go far in easing the afternoon aggravation.

Kind of muggy here, got up to 82. I’m dreading tomorrow when we’re suppose to get hit with some pretty stout storms. I hope it passes quickly.

Hope my fellow Meeses have had a great day! :o)

Long time no see!!! Checking in from Gizo in the Solomon Islands where it’s mostly overcast, temperature about 90, humidity about the same and the water temp is 87!

Hope there’s room here for me! I’m a gettin’ real tired of that RKBA nonsense at the GOS. Doesn’t seem to be much of that here and that’s a good thing!!

Nice to see so many familiar names here!
