Since 2008 – Progress Through Politics

I Reckon I'll Stay

Thanks to all the Mooses for their gracious welcome.  The Purge and Kos-Out of 2011 led a bunch of us here. Would we act like the Bumpus’ hounds in The Christmas Story, wolfing down all the turkey and destroying the screen door on the way out?

After a week, it’s hard to say.  I’ve wandered back to the dailykos, but only to chat with a few old friends.  I’m liking it here, and I plan to stick around.  Maybe someday I’ll even write a real diary.

So, everybody else’s spin-up diaries contained some reasoning about moving here or blogging, so I feel compelled to add just a bit.  Feel free to skip down to the Meh bits.

What I viewed as the horrors of the Bush administration got me to participating at the dailykos, but it hasn’t taken long for our side to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

I want to contribute to problem-solving.

I want to contribute to making life better for us all.

Building a house takes a lot of planning, but it takes even more work to build it up, steady, tedious, step-at-a-time work.  Imagine laying bricks with 1500 people yelling that it’s not going fast enough, they’re not uniform in color and texture, the mortar’s too runny, the sand is too coarse, the trowel is getting dirty… Yikes.

There’s a lot of work to be done.  Most of it ain’t done by typing on a blog.  But having a place to chat about the work without getting electronic spittle flecked all over would be nice.  And I think this is a place for that.  Thanks, Meeses.

    And, you can stay.  😛

thread with some “openness.”  To that end, may I present the greatest closer of all times:

Apparently I can embed but you have to watch on mlb.com.  🙁

I’ve been looking for a spot to place this.  Thanks!!!  🙂

… those who have been here for less time are just as important as those or us who have been here for a longer time. I always like to say that nobody is a newbie here and this place is as much yours as it is mine. The pace picks up and slows down but everybody posts again eventually. It’s all about having fun and trying to outsnark each other. We love taking on controversial topics and a few here love (love) to play devils advocate for shits and giggles. It works out great because either way we are challenged to think. What you post will get read.

Glad you like it here and feel free to let loose! (it’s what we do)

  4. The awesome bubbanomics is staying.

And it ain’t all just pretty pictures, that’s for sure.

I think of your building analogy all the time, especially with Crossrail, one of the biggest engineering projects in Europe happening outside my doorstep, and Europe’s biggest Skyscraper, the Shard, suddenly sprouting at the end of my road.

These foundations have been laid for years now. All the tough work done below the surface (like the legs of a swan). The superstructure rises up quickly after all that work on the base is done.

Glad to have you as a fully fledged Mooq – mixed metaphors aside. Go gallop, ruminate, munch and rut

We need more Moose who appreciate the word ‘reckon’.  😉

I’m very pleased you are stickin’ around bubba…I hope others do as well (or at least drop by and say “hi” when they are in the neighborhood).

this seems like the perfect spot.

This had me in tears…right till the end.

I know I’ve been that sauced before…I just don’t think I was ever still mobile. Or conscious. Ooph. /grin

scanned through some of the fp stories I missed last week.

was excited to see the boycott edition of Black Kos.

    read Animal Nuz and hatemailapalooza.

    rec’d a few comments, rec’d a few diaries.

    haven’t commented yet.

i like it here and definitely plan to stay.

but only if the Yankee fans keep their gloating to a minimum. 😀

Sorry to read about the unpleasant happenings at GOS leading up to the boycott.

Please keep blogging, and keep up the spirit of the progressive ideas.

I’ve had an account here for quite a while now, posted one diary, and this week, found out a lot more about the heart and soul (and mind) of this place. I like it very much and feel at ease in this space.

I just know it newly. And am glad to see you here, bubbanomics!

  10. just want to say hi!!…needed to feel a little hope and lightheartedness.. i cant seem to shake my sadness about Robinswing being banned from dailykos after she started the boycott/protest…. it takes me forever to process stuff… just makes me start seeing the world with such bleakness…. so it is good to come to your diary and get a little pick me up.. laughter is good… anyway peace to all..

..to say hi, I’m still around, just took some badly need time off  to recover from yet another episode of BBS.

(Blog Burnout Syndrome.) It’s a chronic ailment that has no permanent cure.

As for sticking around, well, as long as I’m still upright and able to take nourishment, and have at least two functional fingers, I reckon I’ll be here awhile. 🙂

Another reason not to drift back to GOS, no bubbanomics.

Actually, for the time being, I’m going to be here and at Critical Mass Project exclusively.  I stopped by another blog yesterday (not DK), tried to make a nuanced comment, and got an answer that was pretty much “If you’re not with me, you’re against me” in response, and decided, OK, it is really not worth the headache to voice my opinion most places.

I might actually get some work done now.  Imagine.

Oh, don’t get me wrong, I’m back at the Big Orange, and I’ll try and pitch in on the conversation that seems to be starting there and try to help steer it in a positive direction.

But I only have so much of my Copious Free Time [tm] to devote to politibloggy stuff, and I’ll definitely be at dKos less than before because I’ll be spending time here too.

    Up the Moose!

I’m so glad lots of us are staying… me eleventy-six (I think)

Love the laid-back, funny, hysterical, but also serious attitudes here, so thanks for having us, MMoose. I’m happy to hang my antlers here often. I still have to argue with the 3 pro-nuke protagonists at the GOS, and read up on important stuff, but will hang here for the conversation.
