GOP "Budget" Discussion Thread

Today, House Republicans submitted their counterproposal to the Federal budget for FY 2010. It is a whopping 19-pages in length, full of fiscally responsible unicorns and market-driven rainbows, and was apparently created by an intern with a beginner’s experience with using Microsoft Visio. Here’s a handy graph describing the sort of helpful information contained in this proposal:

What do YOU think about the GOP proposal?

UPDATE: Here is the PDF of the “proposal”, for your entertainment

when your counterpunch turns into a hilarious internet meme. Real bad.

Optics aside though, are you kidding me!? Huge tax cuts for those making above 100K while taking the banks into receivership? IndyMac cost 9 billion, citi is like 54 times larger…they’re going to take a bunch of these over while slashing taxes?

It’s funny, they used to irk me because they were opponents. Now it’s simply the stupidity that galls me. I can’t wait to see what they whip out Wed.

You’re kidding me. They did not bitch about ACORN in their I-am-serious-cat “budget proposal.”

Holy frak. They did. You need the whole paragraph for full effect. It’s like a laundry list of right wing bogeymen.

Oh, frak me. They use “Democrat” as an adjective too.

“Given that Congressional Budget Office estimates the Democrat budget would create a budget deficit equal to 13 percent of GDP in 2009, and 5.3 percent of GDP over the next ten years, how can this be a “responsible” proposal?

Who are the recipients of such largesse? International organizations and foreign aid recipients, including millions for reconstruction in the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip. Labor union bosses participating in a new “green jobs” program. The National Endowment for the Arts, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, Americorps, Title X Family Planning, and a host of spending programs that will do nothing to help our economy recover. And even community organizers, such as ACORN, performing ‘neighborhood stabilization.’

My God, it’s a laundry list of Republican boogeymen! Why didn’t they mention Bill Ayers?

  3. as a mark of achievement.

I either don’t understand her wily plans to get support from her base by using keywords that have no meaning whatsoever, or she’s dumb as a stump.  I’m afraid it may be “both”, and the fact that she got reelected may show that she is right.

If I ask my dog three times what part of the Constitution gives him the right to lick his own crotch, can I be in Congress, too?

I really do hope that the GOP does resurrect itself into something better…. eventually.  We will  need a new party to keep us balanced, but we need to pull from the far right for a good while before we should listen to them. I am always open to new and good ideas, however, less than zero is coming out of the Party of Palin/Plumber.  It’s f’ing pathetic, and I leave it to the funny images to express my sentiment.
