Motley Monday Check in and Mooselaneous Musings

 photo Monday1_zps943d9af1.jpg

Good morning Motley Meese! Hope your weekend was lovely. Sorry it’s over so soon.

PLEASE Don’t Recommend the check-in diary!

Fierces on the weather jar comment are still welcome.

The check-in is an open thread and general social hour.

It’s traditional but not obligatory to give us a weather check where you are and let us know what’s new, interesting, challenging or even routine in your life lately. Nothing is particularly obligatory here except:

Always remember the Moose Golden (Purple?) Rule:

Be kind to each other… or else.

What could be simpler than that, right?

Heading for a sunny, gorgeous 72. Perfect weather.

trs and I had a lovely hike yesterday, in Shenandoah National Park. Visited a couple waterfalls. It has been a nice rainy spring and the falls were glorious. trs committed photography. Watch this space and he might post some later in the week.

  2. It is 58 degrees in Madison and today’s expected high is 70. Some thunderstorms possible later in the day.

I am shaking my head over my quick scan of the morning news. It is a sad thing when “manliness” means wanting to go to war instead of resolving things diplomatically. I thought our country had evolved since President Studly landed on an aircraft carrier causing the media to swoon:

Chris Matthews on MSNBC called Bush a “hero” and boomed, “He won the war. He was an effective commander. Everybody recognizes that, I believe, except a few critics.” He added: “Women like a guy who’s president. Check it out. The women like this war. I think we like having a hero as our president. It’s simple.”

PBS’ Gwen Ifill said Bush was “part Tom Cruise, part Ronald Reagan.” On NBC, Brian Williams gushed, “The pictures were beautiful. It was quite something to see the first-ever American president on a-on a carrier landing.”

Bob Schieffer on CBS said: “As far as I’m concerned, that was one of the great pictures of all time.” His guest, Joe Klein, responded: “Well, that was probably the coolest presidential image since Bill Pullman played the jet fighter pilot in the movie Independence Day. That was the first thing that came to mind for me.”

Maybe we should start with a new media.

Busy Monday, as usual. See all y’alls later!!

stayed home from school today – sore throat.

Several people pointed out David Brooks (NY Times) latest crap to me yesterday:

New York Times’ David Brooks Says Obama Has ‘A Manhood Problem In The Middle East’

    http://thinkprogress.org/world

BROOKS: Basically since Yalta we’ve had an assumption that borders are basically going to be borders and once that comes into question if in Ukraine or in Crimea or anywhere else, then all over the world all bets are off. And let’s face it, Obama, whether deservedly or not, does have a – I’ll say it crudely – but a manhood problem in the Middle East. Is he tough enough to stand up to somebody like Assad or somebody like Putin? I think a lot of the rap is unfair but certainly in the Middle East there is an assumption that he’s not tough enough.

NBC’s Chuck Todd agreed. “By the way, internally they fear this you know it’s not just Corker saying it, questioning whether the president is being alpha-male,” he said. “That’s essentially saying ‘he’s not alpha-dog. His rhetoric isn’t tough enough.'”

This is the “walk and talk loudly and have a big stick/dick/prick theory of macho-military-governance”

Chuck Todd is a schmuck too.

    GAH!

And rain tomorrow. Good. We planted things last week. My face is a bright, allergic red from spending so much time weeding and planting.

Had a lovely Easter dinner, lots of work for us, but it was great to see the family. We organized an egg hunt (plastic eggs stuffed with little toys instead of candy) for the Littles after Sunday dinner. They had a good time. Where do kids get all that energy? Wish I had it.

After delivering Miss Pink Cheeks to day care, I have a bit of shopping to do, then I’m coming home to rest and think about all the things I’m supposed to be writing. The Birthday is Wednesday!   I’ve ordered a cake with a legend that reads, “Happy 450th birthday, William Shakespeare.” Want to do a birthday blog but right now I feel too weary to even think about it.

Saw on the telly that that b*st*rd Assad has once again used poison gas on his own people. (There are times when I wish I believed in hell so that people like Assad could go there after they die.) If only women ran the world! It would be SO MUCH better!

Denise, sending you throat-healing thoughts in the hope that you’ll feel better very soon. Wanted to comment on your wonderful post yesterday but was overwhelmed by dinner preparation and so on. With regard to the box marked “race” on forms–just put “Occasionally, on weekends.”  For “sex,” put “Yes, as often as possible.”

Everyone have a good day, and anotherdemocrat, hope Austin will escape the worst of the weather!

My foggy brain is slow to wake up this morning, so I’ll go to the pool soon and then have a better excuse for a nap than just feeling sluggish from eating to much Easter chocolate 🙂

they’re calling it a “supernatural romance”, but it’s Joss, so I’m thinking it’s a “romance” in the same way that Cabin In The Woods was a “horror” (so, it should subvert the genre and say something feminist)
