Friday Coffee Hour and check-in is an open thread and general social hour.

It’s traditional but not obligatory to give us a weather check where you are and let us know what’s new, interesting, challenging or even routine in your life lately. Nothing is particularly obligatory here except:

Always remember the Moose Golden (Purple?) Rule:

Be kind to each other… or else.

What could be simpler than that, right?

28 degrees in the Shenandoah Valley; high today of 48. It’s supposed to be a warm, wonderful weekend an in the 60’s by Monday. Spring, is that you?

    TGIF!

  2. 20 degrees in Madison WI … expected high of 41. Can you say mel-ting? We have had snow cover since Dec. 9th and it is time.

Glad you made it home safe and sound, iriti. I saw that my Fedex deliveries where stuck in Tennessee and I knew it was a bad storm.

When I scanned the news, I saw that CCAP is meeting. Thank you, Republicans, for putting all of your stoopid in one place to be laughed at and scorned. I just wish we could contain it the other 362 days of the year because, really, you guys, it is damaging to our country.

Have a great day, all y’alls. I have to go pack a bag lunch so that my daughter knows that I care … because all this time I thought that “a full belly” was good for her. Turns out that food is overrated and what we really need is a heapin’ helpin’ of fact-free ideology.

if we, individually or as a nation, lose weight on a

    fact-free ideology

    ?

Hope it’s a good day for all!

also, the weather is back on the merry-go-round anyway – warm, cold, storms… I have no idea

Another really bad night’s sleep. But I kept the wrappings on.  I neglected to use the squeezing machine yesterday, will set it up in the living room, sit on the floor & use it for the max recommended tonight.

I googled “paleo vegetarian meal plan” since I’ve gained weight with the smoothies/apples/juices I’ve been eating. Will paste together an eating plan for next week. And I’m supposed to exercise with the bandages on. That should be interesting.

Plan for today, besides the cutting & pasting — just stay awake. 4-ish hours of sleep is bad. Oh – and avoid all the SXSW stuff.

  5. The Labor & Working Class Studies Project Presents Rev. William Barber II

    “ON THE PEOPLE’S MORAL AGENDA: ANTI-RACISM, ANTI-POVERTY, PRO-LABOR”

Thursday, March 13, 7pm, Bethel Lutheran Church, 312 Wisconsin Avenue

MADISON-Building on the energy and alliances of the massive labor protests that captured national attention here three years ago area labor and religious leaders have recruited the Rev. Dr. William J. Barber II to share the experience of North Carolina’s “Moral Monday” movement with the people of Wisconsin.

“Rev. Barber is a leader in a growing movement that encompasses a variety of goals, but the glue that holds it all together is economic and social justice,” said Patrick Barrett of the Labor & Working Class Studies Project (LWCSP), the group leading the effort to bring Barber to Madison. “As in North Carolina, the key to moving forward in Wisconsin is building ties between the civil rights, poor peoples and labor movements.”

Citing high unemployment and incarceration rates, voter suppression, union busting, and other dire conditions confronting the state’s working-class, Wisconsin NAACP First Vice President Wendell Harris noted, “The parallels between North Carolina and Wisconsin are undeniable. We welcome Rev. Barber-one of the greatest civil rights leaders of our time-with great enthusiasm!”

Barber will deliver his address, “The People’s Moral Agenda: Anti-Racism, Anti-Poverty, Pro-Labor,” on Thursday, March 13, at 7 pm at Bethel Lutheran Church, 312 Wisconsin Avenue in Madison. Admission is free and open to the public.

Gospel song powerhouse Yara Allen, who has led singing protests with fast food workers and unions, will offer a “call and return” sing along after Barber’s comments.

the humidity is high so it’s very damp and this makes these old bones ache.

Just finished the sunday opus after getting up at 2:30 AM to start putting it together. I’m tired and my fingers hurt from the chill, but can’t type in gloves or fingerless mittens.

I guess I should go wash dishes which helps.

We have more damn snow in the forecast for next week!!!

    ARGH!

and I may actually get to walk home today – only 2 blocks between work and home “iffy” as far as ice on the sidewalks.  60s and sunshine should take care of that by the time I leave.

Happy burfday iriti – and JanF the “let them eat…” diary I will have to read later, but just what’s showing on the FP is solid.  (Paul Ryan make up something to prove his hypocritical Randian philosophy?  Say it ain’t so!  snort.)

Everybody in Mooselandia have a good Friday and weekend.  I ‘specks I’ll be here Monday to check in as no more snow in the 7-day forecast.  {{{HUGS}}} bf

I’m not the only one ready to be in my garden….the damn deer are back, snacking on the newly emerging day lily and tulip leaves. Time to spread the netting, spray on the Deer Be Gone, and mutter about who was here first 🙂

Glad you made it home safely.

Waiting for hubby to come back so he can take me shopping (he’s the one with the credit card). Meanwhile, trying to catch up with things.

My desktop publisher sent me the galley proofs yesterday so I’ve been going through those. Will get them back to her this afternoon. We put a teaser from my unpublished novel, Witchfire, at the end in the hope it will inspire people to order it. We’re going to work on formatting that next.

Things are starting to get busy. A visitor will arrive next Friday for a social event the day after that. Note to self: Will ya clean up your messy house? That’s my plan for the weekend, in addition to working on a couple of short stories.

It’s cloudy here and 35 F. but we’re expecting a warmer weekend. Don’t forget to “spring forward”!
