    Total snowfall here, not quite 20″. Possibility of more tomorrow night.

    The good news is that my stitches are out & I’m released to go back to work 2 days a week. I’ll work from home the other 3 days, as I have bern for the last week. Not released to drive yet though.

    My physical therapy prescription lays out a 5 month recovery program. Yikes.

    It is 10 degrees here in Madison WI with an expected high of 21 degrees. Next week 30s. Spring is nigh!!

    we are still under a Storm Warning


    Timing: snow will taper off from south to north toward daybreak, but not until another 5 to 10 inches of additional snowfall accumulates.

    Impacts: nearly impossible travel conditions expected, with snow covered roads and near White-out conditions at times. Some blowing snow across the higher terrain could further hamper Travel.

    Winds: northwest 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

    I’m glad I cancelled my lecture at school today well in advance – was supposed to be a guest speaker for women’s studies today.  

    The “gods of school closing” for the state haven’t spoken yet about whether or not SUNY campuses are open or closed.

    I can tell that the winds have been blowing pretty strongly – my back porch which has a roof – has piles of snow covering the furniture.

    Gov Cuomo closed I-84 yesterday (it runs across NY from PA to Connecticut and Massachusetts) – immediately a Republican State senator held a press conference criticizing it.

    I-84 has been a political football for years.

    All dolled up for Valentine’s Day – shirt & socks with hearts, heart earrings & necklace my mom gave me – last Friday was her birthday, I miss her. I’m not doing anything for the day, but it’s fun to dress up.

    Warm this morning – didn’t even need gloves. And it’ll get to 70 or so this afternoon. And a warm weekend. Must remember to go to the thrift store for a jacket I can just drop along the race route.

    clear blue sky on the dazzling white snow. Had another terrible night from (1) staying up too late to watch the men’s ice skating at the “limpics”; (2) a nasty throat tickle that will not go away; and (3) that dreadful little dog, who emitted two deep, hoarse barks at 4:30 a.m. Possibly he wanted to tell Mummy that he’d thrown up on the carpet of my office, where he sleeps under the computer desk. Not realizing this (at that hour my brain doesn’t work), I thought he wanted to go out, so I went downstairs and opened the door. He did not want to go out. I said something unprintable and lurched back to bed.

    Alles ist gut this morning, however, because when Dearly Beloved sat down to his computer, his e-mail informed him that we have our tax refunds! I only filed a week ago today, so we’re wildly happy.

    Wasn’t it sad about Plushenko? And poor Jeremy Abbott. I do love the way skaters immediately pick themselves up and go right back to skating their programs as if nothing had happened. One could draw a life lesson from that.

    Looks like we picked up another inch or two overnight. Glad Rich shoveled the major stuff yesterday, though he did report that the snow was very heavy … or was he complaining? 😉 But the sun is out, the road in front of the house is plowed, and we should see some melting today.

    I’m preparing for my trip to Tucson later this month. Can’t wait to see my family, the sun, and, well, home. Too bad it’s only for a couple of weeks.

    That’s 100% drizzling even though the forecast says 10% chance of precipitation – either they left off a zero or they don’t count drizzling as precipitation.  Oh well, we can use the water (even with all the snow, ice, and rain we’ve had this winter the lakes are still not up to “normal” yet) – although not as much as points west could/can.  I get to start bugging the faculty for their textbook requests for all those classes I was entering into the system early last month – May Intersession, Summer, August Intersession, and Fall – so I’d best get to it.  But moar coffee first.  {{{HUGS}}} to all in Mooseland.

    I have a Valentine bouquet I wanted to share but my phone, the wifi and flickr connection, and brain just aren’t working this morning.

    Something was wrong with the router last week and I thought it was fixed, but apparently my phone doesn’t agree.
