Motley Monday Check in and Mooselaneous Musings

 photo Monday3_zpsc08d979e.jpg

Good morning Motley Meese! Hope your weekend was lovely.

PLEASE Don’t Recommend the check-in diary!

Fierces on the weather jar comment are still welcome.

The check-in is an open thread and general social hour. Come back when time allows through the day – the conversation continues.

It’s traditional but not obligatory to give us a weather check where you are and let us know what’s new, interesting, challenging or even routine in your life lately. Nothing is particularly obligatory here except:

Always remember the Moose Golden (Purple?) Rule:

Be kind to each other… or else.

What could be simpler than that, right?

  1. It is -2 here and the windchill is 22 below zero. Winds are at 15 mph. The temperature will drop to a daytime low of -8 and them plummet to -18  before day break tomorrow.

Most schools in the area are closed but not ours! Our threshold for “too cold to stand outside and wait for a bus” is 35 below windchill. They will be closed tomorrow. Apparently the forecast low of 50 below Tuesday morning makes it an easier call.

In the meantime, my feet are cold, and my coffee keeps cooling off before I can drink it. 🙁

I am going to put up a Preview of the State of the Union with links and stuff from the White House. This is an important speech going into the midterm election. The president still has coattails; despite our not regaining control of the House in 2012, we increased our total seats by 8 and we increased our Senate seats not only in quantity but in quality (Elizabeth Warren! Tammy Baldwin! Mazie Hirono!). He will lay out what Democrats will run on this year and if he follows through on his threat to take executive action and bypass Congress, it will serve as a reminder of what we can do if we work to Get Out The Vote (and Get Out And Vote) and put enough Democrats in Congress to regain the majority.

The right-wing media is already telling people that the SOTU is not important. They could not be more wrong. The words may not be heard in real-time but those to whom the message is directed will hear it … over and over and over again. And about the right-wing media? BWD said it best:

Gotta go heat up my coffee!!

stuff before it drops to 18.

Hoping a hit wave heads for the Midwest and soon. Those are brutal temperatures. How do people on limited means pay for heat to survive?

Hoping to hear good news about RonK today. Will check in later.

Wondering if Alito and his pals will go to the SOTU tomorrow.

    That’s all for now.

Another cold front coming today, and precipitation expected tonight, but I doubt we’ll get a snow day out of it.

Eating breakfast, reading the directions for Wednesday, and Thursday.  I wonder why no red juices on the clear liquid day? Cherry juice (the real deal, not cherry-colored sugar water) is really good. Definitely doing my weekly weigh in for the contest on Thursday.

Meeting with the property manager and homeowner’s association president this evening. So, on a Monday following an unexpected 3 day weekend, I need to find time to look over the bills they submitted and compare them to the stuff my insurance company e-mailed. Have I mentioned I work in a call center? Yeah, that’ll work out well. And yes, I should have done it yesterday, but:

I got a FitBit — pne of those things that tracks your steps & calories & stuff. It also tracks your sleep – you wear it on your non-dominant hand at night. Anyway, the one night’s data that I have is from yesterday, when I accidentally overslept. Of the 9 hours I was in bed, I only slept 6. Even after my 4.5 mile walk that morning. Hmmm. That explains a lot. I don’t have data for last night, forgot to grab the synch-thing, but I can tell you I slept really poorly.

Anyway, only plan for today is to remain upright.

RonK comes home from the hospital…..again!….today. He had a pik line put in his arm yesterday so we’ll learn how and where the daily IV meds will be given this morning. Then we’ll start a new routine of PT appointments and infectious disease appointments.

So the good news is that so far the infection seems to be just in the skin, it’s responding to the meds, and he’s walking well with the new hip. The bad news is that this is a serious infection and will time to resolve.

I’ve been in such a medical bubble I haven’t followed the news, so it’s going to be good for both of us to get back to more normal routines.

The low for tonight is to be 5 whole degrees F.! And tomorrow’s high will be in the teens. That’s nowhere near as cold as what Jan and Denise are experiencing, but for us, that’s pretty chilly.

Princesspat, glad to hear the infection is under control and that life is getting back to normal for you and RonK. Here’s to the improvement!

Another, I feel for you with your bad night’s sleep. Last night I too had the night from hell. Despite the lavender oil on the soles of the feet and the melatonin tablet, could not get to sleep to save my life. I know I’ll crash this afternoon.

In more encouraging news, hope to get my short stories ready to send to the desktop publisher I’ve hired. Have neither the time nor the inclination to learn how to do that myself–I’d rather spend my time writing.

Hope everyone will have a good day and stay warm!

got me – not that “stuffy nose” isn’t normal with me because unfortunately it is, but my voice has descended into the alto range, which is not.  I don’t think my body really likes yoyo weather.  I moved to AR for distinct seasons, dammit! 🙂  Anyway, last-minute enrollment stuff today and end-of-the-month receipts, etc.  But hey! – end of the month means payday!  {{{HUGS}}} and good health to the meeses.  bf
