Friday Coffee Hour: Check In and Hangout for the Herd

Good morning, Moosekind. TGIF! Hope it has been a good week for everyone.

PLEASE Do Not Recommend the check-in diary!

Recs on the weather jar comment are still welcome.

Friday Coffee Hour and check-in is an open thread and general social hour. Come back when time allows through the day – the conversation continues.

It’s traditional but not obligatory to give us a weather check where you are and let us know what’s new, interesting, challenging or even routine in your life lately. Nothing is particularly obligatory here except:

Always remember the Moose Golden (Purple?) Rule:

Be kind to each other… or else.

What could be simpler than that, right?

56 degrees in the Shenandoah Valley with a high today of 49 and I’ll have some of what the weatherperson is drinking.

    Ice storm coming, joy joy.

  2. 9 degrees here on its way up to a high of 15. The nasty weather stays well south of us.

Stay safe everyone who is in the path of the storm!

We got a 2 hour delay in opening, so that’s nice. Watching local news & MSNBC (now that the smarmy frat boy is off). It is 34 outside, with a winter weather advisory till this afternoon – and a “high” for the day of 36.

Wondering about going to tomorrow’s crack of dawn workout — more rain is supposed to come & there’ll be less traffic to de-ice the roads…..

Wow, the temperature has dropped a good 10 degrees on this gray, “misty, moisty morning” across the river from Washington, DC.  We are expecting something nasty on Sunday, so I’ve got to get all my run-arounds done before then.

Miss Pink Cheeks ate an enormous breakfast without being prompted–thank Goddess–and even turned off the cartoons without being asked!  Can it be that she is growing up?  On the way to day care it appeared to be “telecommuting” Friday, so the traffic was slightly less awful than usual. As we inch our way forward on Fairfax County Parkway, Miss PC requires me to sing, so I sing all four stanzas of “The Earth is Our Mother,” and various other songs. I’d better start brushing up on some lyrics.

Daughter is in town from Austin, but is working so hard we’re not sure we can touch base while she’s here. We might manage it later this afternoon, but that remains to be seen.

Would like to come back later and read the offerings up front–must dash to the gym now.

Hope everyone has a good day and doesn’t slip on the icy roads!

And that’s cold enough for me! I had fun at an arts supply store yesterday finding creative non electronic gifts for the grand kids…..beading sets in appealing colors for the little girls, a fractal magnet set with a metal design board, duct tape in patterns and colors, a good mechanical pencil (with lead refills and a cool eraser), a purple sketch book, a set of small note books, some drawing books, etc.

All the kids enjoy using their kindles and or parents iPads, so I’ll add a gift card for e-fun as well but this gives them some quiet alternatives.
