Motley Monday Check in and Mooselaneous Musings

 photo iz-dis-fing-on_zpsa847a99a.jpg

Good morning Motley Meese! Hope your weekend was lovely.

PLEASE Don’t Recommend the check-in diary!

Fierces on the weather jar comment are still welcome.

The morning check-in is an open thread and general social hour. Come back when time allows through the day – the conversation continues.

It’s traditional but not obligatory to give us a weather check where you are and let us know what’s new, interesting, challenging or even routine in your life lately. Nothing is particularly obligatory here except:

Always remember the Moose Golden (Purple?) Rule:

Be kind to each other… or else.

What could be simpler than that, right?

    Happy Monday.

37 here in the beeootiful Shenandoah Valley, where we are at peak fall color this week.

Hope it’s a great start to a marvelous week!

  2. It is 42 degrees here on its way up to 43 degrees. Strange? Not really. It is on its way down to 34 degrees which it will be right before sunrise and then work its way up to 43 degrees. Freeze warning for overnight.

The big story now that the government has reopened is the rollout of the Affordable Care Act. In the 20 days since the ACA exchanges opened, some 476,000 people have signed up for new health insurance. The web site is getting some needed fixes (some lazy “journalists” have decided that the web site being slow is a metaphor for the failure of Obamacare … no, it is simply an indication that the demand for affordable health care was overwhelming) and people are finding health care coverage and walking around with big smiles. The government shutdown and the threats to provoke a global financial calamity were all about destroying the Affordable Care Act. This whole “not letting ‘the poors’ die” thing has obviously struck a nerve. It sucks to be them because the face of their party is the smirking visage of Ted Cruz … and their voice is his ridiculous proclamations. The self-identified “serious pundits” on the right are falling all over themselves saying that Cruz is done. As Bubba would say HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Good luck with that!

i already found a misplaced sock (after i kicked the cats off the bed) and a misplaced bracelet (which i should have put away when i changed into jammies last night and didn’t).  so that is kind of a win in my book.

time to complete the parent portion of son’s weekend homework while it’s still quiet.

fb isn’t letting me post anything, not comments, not links, not likes.  i even rebooted my whole computer, and logged in and out of fb.

Yesterday at this time, it was in the 40s, this morning, the 60s. High will be in the upper 70s. But a front is coming & tomorrow I’ll probably need shoes.

At work, eating breakfast & drinking tea. Wow, yesterday was really something. The total keeps going up little by little, but they’re still at just 89%. But I have confidence the rest will come in.

Today: early voting starts for our constitutional amendment election – the first one with the new voter id law, work, fundraiser for my friend Celia who is running for state rep, and recover from yesterday.

earworm: Yahweh (U2, as if you had to ask)

productive as well as soothing as we recover from the Republican tantrums. It’s a great fall day here. Hope it is the same wherever you are!

Sitting on 54 now, headed for the mid 70’s today. Excellent weather for a Fort Worth adventure :o)

First day of “work” for me…My partner and I finally got the workshop set up. So now I’ll be going to work several days a week. I know that sounds weird, but moving the work out of my home and into a work space will be good for me. I spend way too much time in the house. I’ve gone weeks without going anywhere aside from church. So, time to get back to rat race. I’m looking forward to the change. And getting the constant mess out of my house! LOL.

On a side note business wise…So excited! We’ve cleared enough in profits to invest in a super cool die cut machine that will do just about everything but kiss my nose…Next on the wish list is pressing machine or an embroidery machine for monogramming…It’s going well, crazy, but going well.

my day schedule shifted when husband decided to stay home from work – threw me off my normal day plan where I hand him a cup of coffee at 5AM and get him out the door at 6.

Now – Back to grading mid-term papers.  Sigh

hope you all are having more fun than I am 🙂

Northern Virginia. Today is our wedding anniversary, and this crisp blue-and-gold autumn day is very much like the one on which we married 46 years ago.  Can’t believe I’ve been married two-thirds of my life–LOL!

We went to the outpatient surgery place this morning, arrived  in plenty of time, but they couldn’t perform the surgery on Dearly Beloved after all–he’d eaten breakfast, having forgotten that eating or drinking after midnight was a big no-no.  They’re keeping him there until they can operate at 3 p.m., at which time I have to go back for him.  He must be bored to the point of madness by now, there being absolutely nothing to do in those desolate medical facility rooms. He didn’t bring a book this morning, thinking he’d be operated on soon after we arrived.  Bummer.

Meanwhile, this has totally messed up the day.  I’ll do a bit of housework, then have a nap–we had to get up MUCH too early to get to Tysons Corner on time–and then go back.  So much for celebrating, eh?

    and sort of, not quite, drizzly – hope I can get a ride home from the Budget Committee meeting tonight (both my regular ride and my back up ride are in San Antonio, TX today), as walking after dark will not be fun.  Had a stellar birthday weekend – friend took me out for Mexican Friday evening, another friend took me out for steak Saturday evening, and my son prepared a beautiful lunch – gluten-free lemon chicken with jasmine rice and steamed broccoli – yesterday for my actual birthday!  Oh yeah, I’m 62.  What’s it to ya? 🙂  I’ve now reached early retirement age and the feeling of freedom is so great I probably won’t leave until I’m 70 (or at least 66) – but I can.  Hope everybody has a wonderful day/week.  FYI – I won’t be at work and therefore not online tomorrow, but see ya Wednesday.  {{{HUGS}}}
