On This Day

In 1776, during the Revolutionary War, Nathan Hale volunteered to spy on the British. That didn’t work out so well for him.

In 1846, Elias Howe patented the sewing machine. He later sued Isaac Singer, who had built on his basic design and was selling it as his own. He won, and collected considerable royalties.

In 1939, the British navy’s first loss was from friendly fire when the HMS Triton submarine mistook the HMS Oxley for an enemy sub.

In 1943, German troops occupied Rome.

In 2002, Switzerland joined the United Nations.

In 2012, the Large Haldron Collider went live for the first time. The world did not end.

    It’s dark.

Yesterday only got to low 80s, it was very nice. I am hoping for a repeat.

    Answers:

I take DMAE, St. John’s Wort, and L-Tyrosine twice a day for girly stuff. That’s pretty much it.That little cocktail definitely helps. I’m not currently using any homeopathic stuff, and there is nothing I will swear by.

The Moose and the GOS and Wikipedia (I finished my diary templates yesterday) and will shortly have all my favorite art sites open, but not until my eyes open.

I have a ton of bookmarks, not organized enough, I have lots of folders, but I need some folders within the folders, too.

Politics, a folder for stuff I want to read later, art, history, architecture, interiors, shopping, food, humor, weird holidays, financial, food delivery services, social media, books, reference, TV, videos, cool photographic sites, abandoned places…

    I can’t sew, even with a machine, and I don’t currently have a machine.

Do you take supplements (other than vitamins) for your health? Do you use any homeopathic remedies? Are there any that you swear by?

Valerian, melatonin, and 2 other herbal sleep aids. I don’t swear by them, I swear at them, since I still wake up at 4 am.

What other tabs are open in your browser right now?

Orange. I used to also open up FB first thing & leave it open, but it’s gotten so buggy that I just open it a few times a day to see what’s up.

Do you have a lot of favorites/bookmarks in your browser?

Are they well-organized? Outside of politics, what kinds of things do you bookmark?

I used to have a lot of bookmarks on this computer, then a virus or worm or something ate them. Books, politics, veg food & cooking, Hawaii, Ireland.

Can you sew? Without a machine?

I can patch up a seam or put on a button. With a needle & thread.

No supplements, and certainly no homeopathic remedies, which are a sham.

No other tabs yet.  I just got here!  🙂

I’ve got a lot of bookmarks on my home computer, and they are not well organized.  I bookmark science, books, music, skeptic sites.

I doubt that I can sew, never having tried.  The machines are scary.

Do you take supplements (other than vitamins) for your health? Do you use any homeopathic remedies? Are there any that you swear by? Yes, I take digestive enzymes. I have used homeopathy all my adult life. Remedies are pretty specific to the situation. I use ferrum phos. at the first sign of a cold. Arnica, etc. My dentist gave me a remedy when I had a tooth pulled. It works.

What other tabs are open in your browser right now? Facebook and e-mail

Do you have a lot of favorites/bookmarks in your browser? Are they well-organized? Outside of politics, what kinds of things do you bookmark? Not many bookmarks, not well organized. Most have to do with health and recipes.

Can you sew? Without a machine? I only sew without a machine. Hems, holes, buttons..nothing more.

  5. Gee

I don’t mind it a bit.  I think you’re on the right track, in the mane.  But pace yourself, or you won’t be punning furlong.

Never knew she was older than John.  Yoko’s even older.

    “Mother, you had me…”

Can you sew? Without a machine?  I can only sew without a machine.  Little things like putting buttons on, fixing hems, that sort of thing.
