I’ve never thought of it this way before, but I guess New Orleans jazz

Are you pro or anti nuclear power? Why?

    Anti. Ummmm….. Fukushima, anyone?

When a solar plant has a meltdown it’s called a nice day

Do you try to avoid cooking or eating with salt? Is it easy?

    I don’t try.

When did you first actually feel like an adult? Do you recall what triggered that feeling?

I don’t remember feeling it all at once. But the first time I felt old at all was when some kids I was baby sitting for didn’t know who the Beatles were.

  2. Floja Roja

for the horrible hover puns today. It was really shellfish of me to resort to those.

    Answers…

My favorite of the regional sounds? It really depends on my mood. I prefer Motown to Philadelphia, if I am nostalgic, the San Francisco 60s sound is much fun, and a little Seattle grunge or CBGB era punk helps when I am angry (nothing like catharsis). Or blues…Memphis, Chicago..? I can’t decide on those.

I’m anti-nuke for lots of reasons, the main ones being the waste produced and the fact that humans cannot be trusted not to cut corners in unsafe ways or to handle those materials safely and responsibly.

Once I had a very good friend who ate little or no added salt, and for a while that rubbed offf on me and I found my taste for salt rapidly decreasing, but since we stopped hanging out so much my taste for salt has gone through the roof (it doesn’t help with all the salted chocolate or caramel out there – yum).

I think finally having a roommate-free apartment that I furnished entirely with stuff I found and bought myself is what made me feel grownup, finally. Of course, that feeling still comes and goes. Now if I could just figure out what I want to be when I grow up…

  3. These!!

POLL: 52% of conservatives feel that race relations have improved so much that it’s time to make it harder for black people to vote.

Since we’re playing the game of appropriating the views of dead moral titans, I’m pretty sure Lincoln would have hated Bill O’Reilly.

Punnilicious hovers today!! Quite on pointillist! I choose orb … but only out of sphere.

Hey! I see a linkage here! Do I get a prize?

In 1949, the Soviet Union tested their first atomic bomb.

    International Day against Nuclear Tests

Here is one I wish had a linkage:

In 2005, Hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf Coast.

National Republicans Never Again Elected to Important Public Offices Day

“More Herbs, Less Salt Day” … really? The answer to the question, “is there a ‘day’ set aside for just about everything?”.

Speaking of revenge, Henri “rewards” his owner for going on a trip and leaving a barbarian in charge:

    Liverpool.  Then San Francisco.

Anti, because of the problem of radioactive waste disposal.

    I don’t try.

I was almost 34.  It was the birth of my second son.  Don’t know why I didn’t feel like an adult when the first one was born!

  5. anotherdemocrat

Of all the music styles associated with a particular city (Detroit, Memphis, Philly, Seattle, San Francisco, etc.) which is your favorite?

Austin, of course. Though I guess it’s hard to define – from Willie Nelson to Stevie Ray Vaughn……

Are you pro or anti nuclear power? Why?

Anti. What do we do with the waste?

Do you try to avoid cooking or eating with salt? Is it easy?

Yes. Easy. Just don’t put any in.

When did you first actually feel like an adult? Do you recall what triggered that feeling?

    Buying my condo.

Exactly what I was thinking.  “Hey, that kid’s pretending to be a cat!”

Love the wonderful horrible pun hovers today, too!

Music:  Detroit and Seattle from that list.  There is some music from Nashville that I like too.

Nuclear power:  truthfully I am ambivalent.  I have felt strongly both ways and still do sometimes though lately I have been more against than for in light of the Fukushima disaster.

Salt:  we don’t eat much processed food so if I want to salt something I am cooking I do it.  I freakin love salt.  But I try to restrain myself.

Adult:  when I walked into an exam room for the first time and my client called me doctor.  That is freaky the first time.
