Wednesday Watering Hole: Check In & Hangout for the Herd

Good morning, Moosekind. Don’t forget to let your peeps know where to find you.

PLEASE Do Not Recommend the check-in diary!

Recs on the weather jar comment are still welcome.

The common Moose, Alces alces, unlike other members of the deer family, is a solitary animal that doesn’t form herds. Not so its rarer but nearest relative, Alces purplius, the Motley Moose. Though sometimes solitary, the Motley Moose herds in ever shifting groups at the local watering hole to exchange news and just pass the time.

The morning check-in is an open thread and general social hour. Come back when time allows through the day – the conversation continues.

It’s traditional but not obligatory to give us a weather check where you are and let us know what’s new, interesting, challenging or even routine in your life lately. Nothing is particularly obligatory here except:

Always remember the Moose Golden (Purple?) Rule:

Be kind to each other… or else.

What could be simpler than that, right?

    Happy Wednesday!

70 degrees in the Shenandoah Valley, headed for a high of only 79, they say. Rainy today.

So my hand-painted clogs finally arrived, woohoo! Since my feet shrank with weight loss I have been loosing my inner Imelda Marcos. I have one more pair of shoes due to arrive tomorrow, and then I must put her back in her cage. Sigh.

    My new clogs:

I am very jealous. I love your clogs. I have always been fairly thin, but I have huge feet. I can never find cool shoes in my size.

It is around 68 degrees in central NJ. It was really hot yesterday when we took Rob (Son 3) back to school for his final semester.

  3. 74 degrees here in Madison WI, expected high of 86 degrees. That is about 10 degrees lower than yesterday which was blast furnace hot. I have my window open in my office just so I can hear the still-dark-morning sounds but it will be closed soon.

Sorry I haven’t been able to meese much this week. I have a big project that has to be delivered by 9am and then I promise to go back and read everyone’s brilliant comments from yesterday and Monday … and catch up on the F Bombs (I feel so ignorant about what is going on when I don’t at least scan the tweets!!).

I am going to try to look for a live feed of the president and other, as Valerie Jarrett calls them, luminaries at the Let Freedom Ring rally today. Speeches start at either 11am or 11:30am Eastern (conflicting reports). If I find it, I will put it at the bottom of the “I Have A Dream” front page post.

Stay out of trouble, all y’all!!

Does anyone remember that Levi’s commercial where a pair of jeans says:

Go back to sleep, it’s only a dream….

Heh… Just one of those days where I wish ai could be back in bed!

    Bleh to Wednesdays!

gray sky. We’re supposed to have a high of 86 F., but I hope it doesn’t get up to that.  We need some coolness after yesterday and the day before.

Lunch with two of the Circle sisters today; catching up on e-mail; must start work on the short story I’d like to post around the time of the autumn equinox.  We are contemplating a week away, but in view of recent developments, I don’t know…a holiday depends on easy access to bank accounts.  If the Syrian Electronic Army is going to hit bank sites as well as the NY Times, it’s going to be too difficult to make the financial arrangements.

The news is so uniformly horrible at home and abroad I might have to take a news break.  Then, of course, I’ll feel like an irresponsible person.  But it might be less stressful.

Eating breakfast, drinking tea. The new guy is here extra early too, thanks to special transit. Hopefully he hates it & gets them to re-arrange that. But they’re notorious for this kind of thing, my co-worker who retired was frequently late, and/or not picked up after work until 6pm. I just kinda like being here alone for a while in the morning.

Back to hot & dry. High today is only supposed to be 99, but then 104s over the weekend. And sadly, no rain in sight.

Today: work, maybe the free ab class after – though it being the first day at UT, parking everywhere in town just got harder.

Looking forward to seeing coverage of today’s festivities. Though I think UT’s monument is way prettier than the one in DC:

ok, so I’m a proud mama – since that’s the only thing I’m ever going to be a mama of, I think I’m entitled

Hot again today but not as bad as yesterday.  All I HAVE to do today is grocery store and workout.  My kids are eating breakfast now and I have introduced them to old muppet shows so they are getting to watch one of those while they eat.  They love it.

My husbands fortieth birthday is next week and we are having a party so I need to get the cake ordered.  We invited about twenty people but everyone we know has kids so there will really be like thirty five people here.  In our one bathroom house.  I guess the guys will have to go outside.

    Have a great day all!

Khloe went to a “cattle call” interview session for the soon to be opened Bass Pro Shop yesterday. She did so well, they immediately asked her to come back next week for a second interview! This one requires applicants to bring a completed application with them, and I was looking at it this morning while waiting on my coffee. Under the “skills” section, in addition to the usual “typing, data entry, spread sheet, word processing” and etc. there’s something I haven’t seen before: “scuba”!

which is a blessing (attribute to whomever you wish) – got about a minute and a half before the hoards descend again (changing classes will bring more desperate students to the office).  Will check back later.  {{{HUGS}}} bf

The season has changed to fast this year. RonK will be visiting his mom in Kennewick, Wa. for the rest of the week and my summer time with the grand girls is over so I’ll have time to regroup.

I did finally get the trunk of family photos sorted and put away, and bought enough albums so the next time the girls are here we can do the next step of making them even more accessible. It was an interesting experience to “time travel” through the decades of my and our families life.

I’m sleeping in a bit later these days, which is nice. Hope it’s not a temporary fluke.

No real news here, just more fog. Oh, but I do have an appointment with the orthopedist tomorrow when I expect to be cleared for full activity, including joining the neighborhood gym. I have a vague goal of being able to fit into at least some of my old clothes by the end of the year.

Hope everyone has a pleasant Wednesday!

It’s a gray, drizzly day here in the Where of Dela. Think I’ll stay in.

Spent yesterday still recovering from the DC weekend, but today I’m more myself, and starting to get things done again.

Thought I had the issue fixed with my wheelchair wheel order, but the website is still refusing my CC, says ZIP code discrepancy. I thought I had that fixed. Ain’t technology grand (when it works)?

Here’s the Peep who hugged me in DC.

The doctor called this evening to tell me my blood test results were all normal. She said something to the effect of “Keep on having fun.” I think I’m going to be known from now on as the patient who has fun. Sounds good to me.
