Wednesday Watering Hole: Check In & Hangout for the Herd

Good morning, Moosekind. Don’t forget to let your peeps know where to find you.

PLEASE Do Not Recommend the check-in diary!

Recs on the weather jar comment are still welcome.

The common Moose, Alces alces, unlike other members of the deer family, is a solitary animal that doesn’t form herds. Not so its rarer but nearest relative, Alces purplius, the Motley Moose. Though sometimes solitary, the Motley Moose herds in ever shifting groups at the local watering hole to exchange news and just pass the time.

The morning check-in is an open thread and general social hour. Come back when time allows through the day – the conversation continues.

It’s traditional but not obligatory to give us a weather check where you are and let us know what’s new, interesting, challenging or even routine in your life lately. Nothing is particularly obligatory here except:

Always remember the Moose Golden (Purple?) Rule:

Be kind to each other… or else.

What could be simpler than that, right?

  1. 73 degrees in Madison WI on its way up to 90 degrees. Storms overnight will cool us down to 83 tomorrow and low-80s through the weekend. Ten day forecast calls for mid-80s. Apparently we shall have August now.

Glad to see that you made it safe and sound to Long Island, iriti. Visit when you can!

I took my MRI CD to doctor’s office yesterday morning.

Receptionist: What do you want me to do with this? Me: Dr was asking about my back, so I thought…

Receptionist: She can’t read this. We only want the report. It isn’t in your records. Me: [getting angry] It should be. All the old dr’s records were transferred [rant rant rant]. Receptionist: [cold as ice]

Me: [apologize apologize] There should be paperwork here about my painkiller. Receptionist: [cold as ice still] [I don’t remember what happened after that except for a repeat of] What do you want me to do with this CD?

Later, dr. on home phone, which I had said not to use: I’ve been trying to reach you for two days. Your white count is high…. you have diabetes, right?

Me: No, I don’t have diabetes. [more conversation]

Her: We need to check out the infection. Can you come in now? I’ll squeeze you in.

The upshot is that I have an antibiotic Rx now. Treating “empirically” since except for a sore toe we can’t guess where the infection is.

I asked about the painkiller I’ve been trying to get since Saturday when pharmacist faxed form to Dr. (I have emergency supply, a few pills at $5 each.) Dr. gave me another prescription, patted my arm and said “This will do it.”

No go at the pharmacy of course. At the dr’s office I couldn’t remember the words “Lyrica is expensive. The insurance company won’t prescribe it unless you provide justification on the form the pharmacy has faxed to you.” I could only stammer “You have paperwork. It was faxed. You need to fill it out.”

Silly me. I need to write down all the right words and carry a script. I need to get copies of all the forms and carry them back and forth. I need to carry all the strength I can muster now that I’m in Healthcare Hell.

am resting after the dreaded dental visit yesterday.

Have to drag myself over to my file cabinets and start preparing paperwork for school next week.

    Sigh.

    Summer over.

    break out the sweaters!

Eating beans, drinking tea. Earworm: Lips Like Sugar. I should probably make a new CD. Got Democratic club meeting tonight.

We don’t have a lot of applications today and even the e-mails have calmed down a bit (20 for the 4 of us), maybe I’ll throw up a diary…..

it’ll be up in a minute, it’s perfect for purple

Well, except for the dadratted humidity.

Today is Getting Things Done Day. I’m driving down to DC on Friday, to spend a couple of days with my sister. She, her stepdaughter, and her husband are to be there attending a conference. The girls will be sightseeing while her DH is attending seminars or some such.

Last night, I fell asleep around 6, slept til 10, then played around for a couple of hours. Went back to sleep around 12:30, and slept through to 7:30. Guess I was tired? LOL

I’m enjoying the cool breeze through the open windows in my room. It will be time to close them all to soon.

    the faculty meeting just starting so I’m having a breather with cuppa joe and a GF muffin – and teh mooses 🙂 – I’d have checked in earlier but the amount of stuff faculty remember that they need 23 copies of when they walk in the door the day of the meeting is, um, a, daunting.  Yeah, that’s it, daunting.  snort.  Anyway, once I swallow the mid-morning snack (would have been gone already except the coffee’s too hot), I’ve got departmental ccn balances, more travel claims, and asset inventory, and dealing with 3 more office moves.  I’m glad I’ve been so busy though – yesterday was Momma’s birthday – she would have been 83 if she hadn’t crossed The Bridge almost 24 years ago (I don’t need the “why no come back? because I know why – I was sitting beside her when she breathed her last) – and I have appreciated the distraction, even though it’s kept me from my online friends more than I like.  Anyway, the temps are moving back up into summer – I’ll probably have to turn on the A/C when I get home from work – but it’s been a lovely respite not usually seen in August.  {{{HUGS}}}

Foggy again, but that’s okay. I need to stay at home today because I’m expecting a parcel delivery and it’s always such a pain to miss those.

It was hot, and the clouds building. The lawn guys keep getting rained out. Guess what I learned. When it rains almost every day, then the sun shines for short stretches….grass GROWS!!!
