Motley Monday Check in and Mooselaneous Musings

Good morning Motley Meese! Hope your weekend was lovely. Mine could have been exhausting – 410 miles each way to take Mom back to Tennessee, but Kidlet drove all but one hour the whole trip. Payback for all my years as a chauffeur, I guess.

PLEASE Don’t Recommend the check-in diary!

Fierces on the weather jar comment are still welcome.

This week’s shot is from a couple of weeks ago in Catoctin, MD: a kookaburra…really does look like it’s laughing.

Catoctin Zoo Trip-3

The morning check-in is an open thread and general social hour. Come back when time allows through the day – the conversation continues.

It’s traditional but not obligatory to give us a weather check where you are and let us know what’s new, interesting, challenging or even routine in your life lately. Nothing is particularly obligatory here except:

Always remember the Moose Golden (Purple?) Rule:

Be kind to each other… or else.

What could be simpler than that, right?

Here’s the ultimate diss for when someone is dancing on your last nerve:

What month is it again? Did we skip the end of July and all of August and go straight for late September? High today 81. Love it!

    Happy Monday, Meese!

  3. 54 degrees in Madison WI on its way up to 77 degrees … mostly sunny.

So there is payback for years of chauffeuring? Excellent!!

pour here, have two different forecasts – one is rain the other sun – I will get my shopping done early regardless.

    Have a good day Meese.

at home though…. 😉 The counterweight springs in my garage door broke last evening and the door is also stuck.  Calling the door people this morning…. No problem with working from home though.

Why am I up? Drinking coffee; we’ll see if it has any effect. If not, I’m going back to bed.

It’s a gorgeous morning, nice and cool so far. Supposed to be sunny and 84 here in northern Delawhere.

We’ll be canning again today. My batches are small, but they keep coming!

    with a high of 81 F. today.

Another miserable night–woke up at 3 a.m. scratching furiously, stumbled out of bed to put the steroid ointment on my neck, jaw, and right hand, even though my dermatologist doesn’t want me to use it for at least a week before the next appointment on 7 Aug.  I didn’t go outside in the backyard yesterday but my husband picked some beets, which I prepared and boiled for dinner.  They were delicious, by the way. I’d thought it was green beans I was allergic to, but no–hours after going to bed the rash and itching began again.  I’m doomed.

Oh, well, at least work is proceeding apace on my short story! Worked on Scene 2, which I’d been putting off, and it now reads quite well. Still not completely happy with Scene 4 and still have scene 5, the last one, to write. Hope to get it all done today as I like to let a story “cool” for a while.

Hope everyone will have a wonderful day in this refreshing weather!

and highs will get over 100 every day this week, sigh

Eating breakfast – oats soaked in almond milk with cherries, mango & blueberries. Drinking tea. Gym bag is in the trunk. I’m going to do my pt exercises, at the very least, if I can remember them.

I’m thinking of signing up for a training group for the half-marathon. The trouble is, you have to raise money for a charity & I already do the Walk. I don’t know about asking again. But it is run by friends of mine & they give you a lot for your registration money. Like I said, I’m thinking about it.

Today: work, pt exercises, maybe some exercise.

booming and crashing all around us, some strikes were very close. The old dog is very scared of thunder, she curled up in my lap and shook until it was over. We got some nice rain out of it too. The reunion was so much fun, got to see people we haven’t seen since last year and I managed to dodge all the boring stuff.

Poor Joseph R didn’t get his Rev War pension, at least I don’t think so. Everybody knew he was a war veteran and by 1830 he was at the end of his tether, but the documents seem to say his request was denied.

His cousin-in-law John B seems to have received his pension in 1834 but the record peters out after that. Can’t tell how much he got or for how long. Still looking.

A little less foggy this morning, but the sky is still very, very grey. Pretty cold, too.

Wishing everyone a good week ahead.

I’ve been on Flickr for six years. This year they changed how it works and I no longer know how to take a picture from THERE and put it HERE. Honestly, I don’t know how I stay sane.

We are getting efficient around here today!  When we bought a ranch one of the things I was most excited about was the fact that if properly insulated these little houses can be very efficient.  Today we are having an attic fan installed, more vents put in the soffets and insulation blown in up to R49.  Snug as a bug in a rug we will be.

    Have a great day!

Emma’s birthday bouquet was lush, but a bit unbalanced as hydrangeas seem to arrange themselves, but had fun celebrating her birthday yesterday regardless 🙂 Today will be busy too as both girls will be here soon and I also have the PT pool and a dentist appointment. Reading time for the girls and a rest for me will happen this afternoon!

    I did a wedding Saturday which was fun – people are always happy and hopeful on their wedding day and I bask in that glow as I do a nice fire in the winter.  They also paid me, which is not required but also nice.  QC committee mtg this evening – shouldn’t be too bad as it’s Public Works and County Services.  There’s only one member on the Court thinks there shouldn’t be any of either.  (Finance and Budget – next Tuesday – are another matter entirely.)  The sun is shining and doing the “life giving” thing, so enjoy.  {{{HUGS}}}

Today’s adventure in pain relief: 200mg Tramadol. And Yes, Mother, I won’t drive far and I’ll come home well before I get sleepy.

I’ve squeezed my cane walking stick down several inches because it was too long. My arms reach halfway down my thighs, as the mirror forces me to admit. There aren’t any more pegs/holes to anchor it at that length, so it’s just rubber thingie against metal. It should be all right if I use it for balance and don’t put much weight on it.

I’ll keep you posted on the results of all this folderol.

…and it turned into a huge nap, from which I woke up abruptly in the middle of a wild dream. Now I’m a little discombobulated so I just made some more coffee to help clear the head.

Still dark grey outside; looks like rainy weather does in the winter time. I’m trying to motivate myself to get out and go to the store (or anywhere, really) but my heart just isn’t in it!
