Friday Coffee Hour: Check In and Hangout for the Herd

Good morning, Moosekind. TGIF! Don’t forget to let your peeps know where to find you.

PLEASE Do Not Recommend the check-in diary!

Recs on the weather jar comment are still welcome.

Friday Coffee Hour and check-in is an open thread and general social hour. Come back when time allows through the day – the conversation continues.

It’s traditional but not obligatory to give us a weather check where you are and let us know what’s new, interesting, challenging or even routine in your life lately. Nothing is particularly obligatory here except:

Always remember the Moose Golden (Purple?) Rule:

Be kind to each other… or else.

What could be simpler than that, right?

in Hudson Valley NY- and more thunderstorms …looks like for the entire weekend.

I feel like a limp noodle.

Time to take yet another shower 🙂

Skeeters are having a field day eating me alive.

Hope everyone and their animals survived last night’s fireworks without incident.

Alas, summer is creeping back in to North Texas but it is all good.

Be good all, have the day you want to have.

We’ve got a day’s respite from the heat, the Weather Channel calling for a high of only 84°.

I imagine I’ll be paying for having closed the office for a couple of days.  Surely there will be a backlog.  (I know, don’t call you Shirley.)

I desperately need to get caffeine into this body.  More later.  On all counts.

forecast.  Yesterday wasn’t too bad heat-wise and there was a gentle breeze.  A big thunderstorm just to the west of us cooled us down even more while giving us just a few sprinkles while we sat on the patio watching the pork steaks grill.  Columbia is a no-fireworks city too but you’d never know that by the quantity of things going bang all over the place.  Dropped an Ambien and slept through the rest of the noise.  Going to spend today going through more kitchen stuff as I’ll be darned if I’m going to move it all again.  If I haven’t used it since the last move, it’s going to be donated somewhere.

here in the desert, woke up to mid 60s which is really nice. We will heat up to the mid 90s today according to our local weather guy. I have one more project to complete this weekend for the baby shower, next week will be taken up with food prep. We have a simple menu planned with about half of it stuff that can be made in advance so there’s not too much last minute pressure.

Had a nice time yesterday.  Had a nice fire.  My daughter went with neighbors to watch the fireworks.  She is such a big girl now.

Weather today is mid eighties and sunny with increasing humidity.  Will probably have to turn the air on tomorrow as the weekend and early next week look hot!

I’ve got a blanket to finish crocheting this week.  I am tired of looking at it so just need to get it done.  I have my eye on my next project anyway.

Watching Le Tour. One of the American riders dropped out yesterday. Still, an interesting race today.

Going to see Much Ado again this afternoon. Yes, it’s that good. Then I’ve really got to do some housekeeping stuff.

We’re getting back to the mid-90s, still cool for July but edging towards normal.

Woke up to dark clouds passing through and a temp of 56°. “They” say we’ll clear out and reach a scorching 78 before the end of the day.

Hold a good thought for Scottie Thomaston’s cousin, who was in a terrible car crash last night. My nefarious facebook group stayed up with him throughout most of the night, until his cousin came out of surgery. I had the bad luck to have taken a sleeping pill just before he posted, so I faded before midnight. I just checked, and Scottie is sleeping. Many thanks to everyone who held his trembling hands during the long, dark hours.

to tell me he’d be late.  This was after it took him two weeks to call me back with some excuse about having trouble with his answering machine/service.  I was willing to accept it was possible but, seriously, he couldn’t call to say, “Hey! I’m running late, is it okay to make it 10:00?”

I didn’t answer the door because I’m a passive-aggressive coward who didn’t really want to listen to any excuses.  And I was knee-deep in pulling up the kitchen floor (yes, I’m still yanking up the floor after several weeks).

The humidity kicked up enough I had to turn on the A/C yesterday afternoon, but over all it’s been a very pleasant beginning of July.  (Sort of like back in the 1970s normal instead of the “new” normal.  I’ll take it.)  The stitches are out but I’m still not back to full speed.  Literally, I’m still walking slower and not as far as usual – the scab is supposed to flake off over the next week and as I get used to my regular shoes again I should be as good as I get by the end of the month when I go back for the final checkup.  My friend is dealing relatively well with the legal and financial issues of suddenly becoming a widow.  She thinks she’ll be fine as long as she has things to do, but she’s scheduling a counselor visit as soon as she sees light in the tunnel on this.  I’m trying to get my own head working today but Monday on Friday is just wrong.  Need moar coffee and I’m outta milk.  {{{HUGS}}} bf

I have one more day for gardening fun before my house fills up with company again. Then my focus has to change to the next meal and keeping the towels clean!

just came home from seeing Much Ado for the 2nd time — if you haven’t seen it, you really really should. It is amazing & luminous. If Amy Acker doesn’t get an Emmy nomination for this, it is conclusive proof that there’s discrimination against genre actors. If you look at just this performance, a nomination is clearly in order.
