Friday Coffee Hour: Check In and Hangout for all Moosekind

Good morning, Moosekind. TGIF! Don’t forget to let your peeps know where to find you.

Friday Coffee Hour and check-in is an open thread and general social hour. Come back when time allows through the day – the conversation continues.

It’s traditional but not obligatory to give us a weather check where you are and let us know what’s new, interesting, challenging or even routine in your life lately. Nothing is particularly obligatory here except:

Always remember the Moose Golden (Purple?) Rule:

Be kind to each other… or else.

What could be simpler than that, right?

What are your big weekend plans? We will be finishing the paint on trs’ workshop and grocery shopping. If the power is on, maybe building some planting boxes.

Should get up to 61. My highlights for the weekend include laundry, grocery shopping and cleaning the litter box. Bullwinkle is back in bed after perusing his breakfast.

reading course. Rob comes home for the summer today. He has one more semester left.

  4. Temp somewhere in the low 30s, heading up to the high 30s.

Son leaves this morning, returning to MS and the FFDIL. He’ll stop first for breakfast with Daughter in IA, about an hour south of here.

Weekend plan: I have a couple of books I’m working through. I have a couple of sewing projects in process. There are a couple of presents I need to box up and send on their way. My friend Lisa will come over Sunday afternoon to work on a baby quilt for her grandson. He’s over 2 now, though she started it before he was born. Come on, Lisa! Let’s get it finished while he can still enjoy dragging it around!

And likely I’ll be here some.

60 degrees with an expected high of 80. On the way home this morning I noticed some thunder bumber clouds forming over Saginaw Bay. They aren’t headed in this direction. We are finally beginning to dry out from the last several inches of rain.

13 hour shift tonight, so this will be a drive by post.

Everyone have a great Friday, and don’t forget to get in to some mischief!

Rainy rainy rainy here in westmont Illinois.  Supposed to rain all day.  Going to take the kids to check out our new library this morning.  Maybe to the mall to run around later.  Life is easier when my two year old is exercised.

This weekend my husband works Saturday but the weather peeps are changing their tune about all weekend rain.  Would love to get outside some.  Of course i will be painting and continuing to spruce this place up.

Advisory for May 3rd!!!!  45 minutes west and an hour north by northwest each got up to 3 inches of snow yesterday and over night (at least it wasn’t the 15 inches that Albert Lee, MN got).  We need to be careful on the bridges and low lying areas for patches of slick/icy roads.  I’m not amused.

Didn’t sleep well last night – see late post on yesterday’s check-in thread……

Iriti has already outlined my weekend activities, so I’ll just add this – in honor of the Kentucky Derby this weekend. This is not the best recording of this video, but the reason I chose this one: I was in the front row of this concert. I could have put my feet on his monitors!

but so far we haven’t dropped to freezing temps and we’re heading for a nice warm up later.Grace didn’t have a great day yesterday with all that puppy learning but today started off much better. She achieved success with her house training finding the puppy pads for both pooping and pee-ing first thing when she got up and then having a nice cuddle on my lap before she went down for that after breakfast nap. I have more paitence for this than mr w since he seems to use all his up on people.

I am grading a few late papers this weekend, doing some garden clean-up and planting and may even have time to put my feet up and read a trashy novel 🙂

Thankfully my Sunday writing chore is done already, so I have that burden off my back and can enjoy a stress-free Friday.

Have decided to ignore housework and dog and cat hairs by taking off my glasses. What I don’t see I don’t have to clean 🙂

temperature of 35 and a forecast high of 37 plus a 90% chance of rain/snow mix.  It’s been raining off and on since yesterday morning, a nice, gentle rain.  The farmers here are about a month behind in their planting because there was so much winter snow and so much “spring” rain.

Hope all of y’all have been well.

38* in North Texas on May 3rd?!?!  WTH?

Should be a beautiful weekend, headed down to Austin for a Kentucky Derby Party that me and some friends throw every year and the weather should be really nice for that. What’s not to love about playing croquet and swilling bourbon at 2:00 on a Saturday afternoon?

I think it got down to 43 last night. That’s February weather. And I think the cold has stolen all thoughts from my brain. We’ll have 80 degree lows all too soon, so I’m trying to savor this. But — it’s cold!

NY it’s in the mid fifties thinking of going up to the mid sixties.  I am thinking of coffee. Hope there a good weekend is in every Moose future.

  15. Sheesh I think the sun has abandoned us permanently here in North Carolina. Another grey and gloomy day.

Just made a pot of Carrot Cake coffee one of the flavored coffees from Archer Farms that I get at Target. I highly recommend their coffees because they are not only Fair Trade but also they donate to Save the Children.

Spending the day inside working on art since everytime I go out for any reason I have an asthma attack. Can hardly wait for pollen season to go away.

I have to go out tomorrow. I need to get my grandnephew Tristen to school for some sort of test and then take the rest of the clan to the comic book store since it is free comic book day tomorrow and the Church scheduled a meeting that their Dad has to go to.

Finished this picture last night called Walk Through Wonderland.

Wow, it’s already Friday again. Where does the time go?

I kept the back door open all last night to try and cool down the apartment. But today will be cooler than yesterday, only reaching the low 70s in my neighborhood.

I watched a movie last night on my Kindle, and just as I was told, it was visually stunning. The sound was a bit tinny, but stereo separation was really good, almost three-dimensional.

Actually it wasn’t really a movie, but an episode of Smash, NBC’s series about Broadway. Picked it because of the mix of character-driven scenes and theatrical spectacle. The Kindle passed with high marks. 🙂

Fortunately it’s above freezing – by about 1/2 a degree – so I think/hope my cherries will be OK.  (And seriously hope the rest of the local fruit crop is OK – strawberries are/were supposed to be at the Market maybe next week, week after at the latest.)  Still crap at work – should of had the summer payroll stuff in 2 days ago but I don’t have all the information (who’s working when for what cost center) nor have the Powers That Be finalized the process for paying for the new intersession and online classes.  Sigh.  On the other hand, good news on the grievance thing – they settled so the hearing is canceled.  No money involved.  The corporal was fired “without cause” – a perfectly legal and legitimate term in right to fire states – and the 2 subordinates were allowed to resign instead of being fired.  I’m sorry about one of those subordinates – she seemed to have gotten into a mess with the other two and nothing she did to try and get out of it worked (or was even paid attention to by the Powers That Be), they just kept including her in with the actions of the other two.  Sigh.  So. No hearing tonight, but I’ve got to start entering the summer payroll piecemeal as of right now.  {{{HUGS}}} to all the meeses and have a good day/weekend.  bf

So given that the pool vs garden dilemma is resolved, and I’m going to be in the garden. Yesterday was mainly cleanup, but today I’ll be able to plant a few plants and maybe even go to the garden store for some spring annuals.
