Friday Coffee Hour: Check In and Hangout for all Moosekind

Good morning, Moosekind. Don’t forget to let your peeps know where to find you.

Friday Coffee Hour and check-in is an open thread and general social hour. Come back when time allows through the day – the conversation continues.

It’s traditional but not obligatory to give us a weather check where you are and let us know what’s new, interesting, challenging or even routine in your life lately. Nothing is particularly obligatory here except:

Always remember the Moose Golden (Purple?) Rule:

Be kind to each other… or else.

What could be simpler than that, right?

48 here, headed for a high of 63. TGIF.

Feels a little like a long weekend for me. I’m in a training class today and my boss is in a training class Monday and Tuesday. Woohoo!

    Random snoutage:

It’s 34 out, but there is great hope today. It’s suppose to be the first of many spring-like days in a row. The flood warning is still up. Several sunny days will help with that.

Slightly freezing at 40 degrees, but it should warm up to 65. Fed the feline. Now it’s time for my turn!

night – My husband called me from there – it was shut down and evacuated – he couldn’t get home for hours and hours – was frustrating trying to find it on the news. Stayed up till 1AM waiting for him to get home from Manhattan.

Luckily it was a false alarm.

34 degrees going up to 60’s – sunny.

Headed out in an hour to the eye doctor.

    Good morning!

  5. Going to work on getting stuff over to Fine Arts to sell. That being said what I really want to do is find a nice mountain lake and relax. I’ll leave the fishing to this guy however.

  6. I will leave work a little early today to was Son in IA present and defend his master’s thesis. It will be good. Cookies afterward.

I now have my iPad at the right height with this homemade gadget.

I will make one for you. Send $200 and a car wash sponge. I will supply the knife and glue.

should get up to mid 60’s today.  Supposed to get into low 70’s this weekend.  My yard could use a mowing… but I’m boycotting until May.

Someone that I went to community college with works at the same place I do and has for a number of years told me that the boss’s boss thinks I’m fitting in really well so far.  That’s a good thing!!  I also got a cold call from an HR person from a ‘local’ company asking if I was still looking.

and that’s as good as it will get.  Nothing planned for today except for a bone scan this morning, then just sticking my nose into a book.  Such an exciting life!

  9. Now we need Wee Mama to chime in, too. Haven’t seen much of her here lately.

nchristine and Jim already said most of what I would say.

But THIS: last night I woke up about 3 from a dream. I dreamt that I had to do a presentation and I wasn’t quite ready. Guess I am carrying a little anxiety for Son, for his defense this afternoon.

No news from me. Home today until I leave for the defense. Maybe I’ll work on those churndashes again.

    And Good morning, iriti!

heading for another warm and windy day. Yesterday ended up with everything rattling around but peak winds stayed under 35 mph, today isn’t supposed to be quite as windy. It’s official, mr w has agreed that we are keeping Grace. I figured a couple of days with her and he wouldn’t be so interested in giving her away and I was right. This is the last time I’m going to have the energy for a puppy so I’m enjoying it even when she has completely worn me out.

Book of Mormon was hilarious.  I have never laughed like that at a live show.  What fun.  Great casual dinner before hand on state st.

Today we are ripping out carpet and getting a new fridge and stove.  Big day!  Tomorrow I am going to work to pay for all this new stuff.

    Have a great day.

It’s raining and mid-50s in Fayetteville, AR.  Very stressful at work but since this is a work computer I’m using I’m not about to go into details.  Just hope everybody decides to stay home since it’s raining.  (No such luck – the Chair just walked in.)  More stress on the JP front – I’m on the Personnel Committee and next Friday we get to hear a sexual harassment v sexual discrimination grievance.  The packet, which I should get in today’s mail, is 700 pages long.  There went my weekend.  I’ve already got a headache and it’s heading towards skullbanging intensity.  If the secretary were here, I’d go get a couple of shots of Espresso to add to my coffee.  Oh well.  I hope everybody here has a better day than mine is already shaping up to be.  {{{HUGS}}} to you all.  bf

  13. He would have been 82. He died in 1997 at age 66 from lymphoma. I never knew him very well, as I didn’t grow up with him around. We were not close. But there are a lot of his characteristics that show clearly in my sibs and me.

We had a family reunion in 2009. I “met” three of his brothers and three of my cousins. We didn’t spend any time with them when I was a kid. I’d only met the cousins before at my grandma’s funeral in 1980.

Two of my siblings were able to go to the reunion, too. And we all fit together quite well, similar sense of humor, pacing, etc. It was kind of remarkable.

So happy birthday for my dad.

G’mornin’ meesebuddies. This is expected to be a guilt-free, stress-free weekend because

    1. My budget says I’ll survive until the end of May or even longer.

    2. I’ve found my client’s ancestor. I’m labeling scans and should have the report done today.

    3. I can mail the last package to my other client early tomorrow.

    4. I hope to send two invoices with backup tomorrow.

    5. If MyGenealogist.com sends me work I can legitimately put it off until Monday or Tuesday

    6. I’ve done my exercise and therefore don’t feel slothful.

And the weather will be 70° and sunny! I must plan to do something wonderful outdoors. Thinking…

Grey skies this morning — but no fog. Pretty mild temperature, in the 50s.

Yesterday was pretty good. The doctor told me I don’t need to use the cane anymore for short walks in the neighborhood, though for longer walks (like in the park) I should still carry it with me.

Plus, I was lucky getting home afterwards. I was going to run a couple of errands on the way home but something told me to put that off ’til today. And when I got to my building I noticed the side door was open. Just inside was a utility worker messing with the gas pipes. I asked him when our gas would be back on and he replied that it was nearly finished and that he’d be right up to re-light my pilots. Which he did. So I got my stove and hot water back with no fuss. 🙂

It’s currently clear and 61 here – with an expected high of 84. Here being central CA. Heard from a reliable source (or two, or three) that this was a nice place to hang out. I’m quite sure I’ll enjoy it here.

  17. And I have re-gifted it to myself!

But technically, I am a lump of flesh unable to do anything until I get my coffee so I would be unlikely to be able to kill … although a scathing look might be possible.

I think when I got up this morning, about 10 hours ago, it was something like 40 degrees. Right now my Weather Channel icon says (or more accurately, displays) 66 degrees. It will, per the forecast, get one degree warmer. I had the window over my desk open for a while but it is too windy so I closed it and opened the one opposite my desk. It is nice to hear outside neighborhood noises again. Maybe tonight I can sleep with the window open and the moon shining in on me.

I will wander through the threads and see what our peeps are up to then I will go  back to trying to organize my to-do list before I am to-done for the day.

By the way, I will be doing Saturday’s check-in because Khloe has to work late. So don’t expect the normal Saturday brilliance. I will try to leave an earworm in her honor.

with boh dogs having naps. It’s pleasantly breezy today so we’ve gotten a few things done outside and then mr w replaced the carpet in the bathroom with vinyl. Years ago before education he was a flooring contractor so it gets done well and often around here. By the time we finish house training Grace we will take the rugs out to the driveway and wash them. The only trick is rinsing, it takes about three times as long as you think and the rugs need to be turned while rinsing and drying. It’s a job but they’re sure a lot nicer when it’s done. The only ones we’ve ever worn out doing that were cheap cotton ones, the wool ones just look nicer and keep going. Or have for all these years we’ve been doing it.

It’s one of those days where the fog came in late and burned off late, just in time for the fog to come rolling back in. I managed to catch the one hour of full sunshine today. 🙂

I wasn’t able to get a prescription for the green stuff yesterday, because my clinic doesn’t want to annoy the Feds. But a savvy social worker there explained a workaround solution to me, and promised to mail me the necessary form to take to a dispensary with an on-site MD. Now I just have to find one and I’ll be set.

Meanwhile they gave me a refill for the Percocet, no questions asked. I find the whole thing sadly amusing.
