Wednesday Watering Hole: Check In & Hangout for the Herd

Good morning, Moosekind. Don’t forget to let your peeps know where to find you.

 photo moose2_zps78305346.jpg

Today is day two of “so many meetings I can’t get any work done”. The hardest part about meetings for me is not letting the other participants see that I’d rather be in the dentist’s chair. Anyway, I’ll be around for a while this morning, then will check back between ordeals.

The morning check-in is an open thread and general social hour. Come back when time allows through the day – the conversation continues.

It’s traditional but not obligatory to give us a weather check where you are and let us know what’s new, interesting, challenging or even routine in your life lately. Nothing is particularly obligatory here except:

Always remember the Moose Golden (Purple?) Rule:

Be kind to each other… or else.

What could be simpler than that, right?

And now, on with the show!

trs has had a change in his hours which means he gets to sleep in an extra hour now. I’m not jealous. Not jealous at all!

Now off to get ready for work…

    (thanks to the Google widget):

    47°F

    Current: Partly Cloudy

    Wind: W at 8 mph

    Humidity: 90%

They’re saying we’ll break 70°F today. Got close yesterday, though I missed it by sleeping all day. Which is probably why I’m up now. Not insomnia, but I’m just caught up on sleep finally. I’ll head back off to bed shortly for some more zzzzz’s. So while I’m up I thought I’d get in an early word in today’s check-in, because it’s so West Coast unfriendly. ;-p

I hope everyone has a marvelous day in store. Me? Some more napping, and probably a visit from the therapist (though I haven’t checked my calendar). And at some point an enjoyable short walk around the neighborhood, alone or with my neighbor C if she’s available.

26 with a wind chill of 13. We had a dusting of snow last night.  ::sigh:: I guess winter isn’t over yet.

Cabin fever has set in. I has the whines.

Wee-hours TV news (ABC) interrupted by a Special Report: smoke rising from Sistine roof and they can’t decide whether it’s black or white. No, wait, as I type they have determined the smoke is black. Still no new Pope. Sheesh.

Now back to regular programming, which happens to be sorta interesting, about the Mars exploration…

On the way out the door. Had to rush back in for a coat. And while I was doing that Frank spotted a possum down the steps and was barking like a lunatic until I could get back out there and shut him up. Nothing like waking the neighbors at 5 am. Finished a painting last night but looking at it today it may need a few minor changes? We shall see. Hope you all have a great Wednesday.

  6. Ice on the car windows today. Getting ready to take my niece to work. I then need to do some serious work on the cookbook. I combined both of my original recipe books together and now need to put 303 recipes in order.

I finished updating this picture the other day.

  7. We saw the movie Chasing Ice with friends last night. In a word…

    Awesome!

See it if you can. The visual evidence of global warming may bring tears to your eyes. Mine got wet.

  8. It’s about 19 degrees, heading ALL THE WAY up to about 33 today. Sheeeesh….. no springy weather around here yet, not even one day of it.

This afternoon I get to hang out with FFDIL and her mom and sister, as we go look at possible wedding reception sites. Son and FFDIL must be the most patient people in the world. They met in junior high, started dating as seniors in high school (more than 6 years ago), got engaged 2 years ago, and are looking at 2 more years until the wedding.

No new reports on her grad school acceptances. She should hear from the other 3 by the end of the month.

…have kept me up much longer than I’d planned. But that’s okay; there’s always time for me to nap later on, and it’s fun being here when everyone checks in.

Just peered out the back door into the darkness and saw the most beautiful morning-to-be, with the thinnest possible mist, invisible up close and detectable only when seen in the distance. Looks almost like clear (though starless) sky overhead, but the trees off in Golden Gate Park are completely hidden from view. 🙂

Late start today.  Kids still sleeping.  This time change has really thrown them for a loop.  I haven’t looked at the weather because it is going to piss me off that I can’t go outside yet.  Another showing right in the middle of naptime again today.  Grrrrrr.   Car naps are insufficient IMO.  Need to work out but don’t really want to today.  What to do, what to do…

Yesterday was busy writing thank-you notes for birthday cards and presents, so did not get to the gym.  MUST go to the gym today or expire from “unfitness”!

Hope everyone will have a good day–gad, the news is depressing, more shootings, things like that. I’d stop watching and listening to the news but then would chide myself for being an irresponsible citizen.

Anyway–I’m happy the sun is shining and hope everyone here will have a good day!

We’re having gorgeous weather. Cool enough at night to need a sweater, highs in the upper 70s. Packing up the car to head to Dallas for a couple of days. I should be able to check in from up there.

Woke up this morning with a sinus infection (I think). Have had them before, so, by the way I feel, I suspect that’s what it is. I call the doctor’s office, and they’re getting me in this morning to be looked at. Incredibly bad timing on my sinuses’ part: New guy started working with me Monday, management change for the community management office yesterday. I’m just glad the person in charge currently knows me and how I work, so she wasn’t upset at all – she just told me to go to the doctor and do what they told me. I’ve often said, “In my next life, I want sinuses that work!”

Workshop is coming along nicely – Almost all the wiring inside the shop is done – the rest will be done once I start work on the framing for the raised floor (raising the floor 6″ so we can insulate and run dust collection ducts under the floor). Was planning on trenching for the main power run this weekend, but the weather forecast is calling for rain all weekend. Once I get that trenching done, I can have the system inspected, and once the system is passed, I can contact the utility to hook up power to the shop. After that, everything will become much easier!

…when I was bad and turned the ringer off all day. Turns out I don’t have a therapy visit until tomorrow or Friday, which suits me fine. Means I can do my exercises, have a nice walk and laze about the rest of the day without stressing over “company” because I always feel like I have to spruce up for it. 🙂

…in snippet of interview with George Snuffelopagus being shown on GMA. How people can not see this quality in him just staggers me.

pretty cold at 23 but the sun just peeked out and it looks like it means to stay. looks like we’re in for a few days of intense lake effect mini storms – had one lastnight just as i got home. horizontal snow for a few hours, just enough to cover the windshield for the morning drive. :- /

revived a long delayed project started before i got sick in August, my focus and energy will probably be there for awhile. CC tells me she will be greeting everyone tomorrow, Limerick style, so it’s time to get yer rhymin’ ready!

    have a great day everyone!

to green up and the birds are having a joyous time.  There was a pair of little brown birds on my deck railing who looked like they were courting — heads and necks intertwined.  It would be cat tv if I had a pootie.  Right not I just go to the shelter and play with a couple of older cats.  About an hour provides me with my quota of cat fur.  A good time.

for the preview of tomorrow’s check-in limerick fest. In honor of upcoming St. Patrick’s day, I will post my commentary in lilting limerick format. You’re free to do the same if you’re so inclined, otherwise, you can use more traditional early-morning communication approaches.

“I drove the motherf***ing snakes out of the motherf***ing country and all I’m remembered for is moronic poems and green beer? WTF?!”

  19. wordsinthewind

but warming up quick heading to the mid 70s today. We’re in for a general warming into the 80s this weekend. The local weather guy thinks the wind is over for a couple of days and even explained the terms he uses to distinguish between the winds here. We are so eloquent about it which is kinda sad when you think too much about that. It’s the only thing people are eloquent about otherwise it can be a silent mystery.

I enjoyed my time in the (wet) garden yesterday….now it’s time to find my suit and get to the pool on time. This afternoon I take care of the grand girls after school so I’ve got a fun day ahead of me.

The advantage of my late west coast check in is that I’ve enjoyed reading all of your comments. Thanks everyone!

I can’t get into my email. I’ve tried Verizon and Mail2web.com, no go.

The last few days have been funny peculiar, funny ha-ha, awful and aawwww… Poor Alice. She’s better now. Tell you later.

I asked #verizon on Twitter for help, they’ve always been terrific about responding.

Anybody know an email pick-up website besides Mail2Web?

I’ll go and try Yahoo, but they referred me to Verizon last time.

I’m in the library with about 35 minutes to go. TTYL.

…I was overhearing some boring business report on the TV news in which a pundit said “Apple pioneered [blah blah blah]” and all I heard was “Apple pie.”

Time for some oatmeal with cinnamon, and then to elevate my leg, which inevitably means a nap. 🙂

Late check in…This morning has just flown by, I’d like to say I’ve managed to get oodles of items checked off my to do list…But alas tis not happening. Little pop up issues all over the place, the kind that demand attention and eat up big chunks of time. When those pop up time eaters come along I’m always remind of what makes Universe laugh: Saying aloud, “I have a schedule and plans to keep”. Humble pie for breakfast and lunch. As my great granny would say,”That’ll learn you won’t it little miss” Indeed it does :o)

Weather is a little cloudy but warming nicely. The peach trees are beginning to blossom so here’s to hoping we don’t have another hard freeze. We’d very much like things to be just peachy keen around here in a few months. :o)

“White Smoke Rises; New Pope is Chosen in Short Conclave

With a puff of white smoke from the chimney of the Sistine Chapel and to the cheers of thousands of rain-soaked faithful, a gathering of Catholic cardinals picked a new pope from among their midst on Wednesday. The name of the new pope, the 266th pontiff of the Roman Catholic Church, was not immediately promulgated.”

I’m always late to morning gatherings. I’m more of a night owl.  Have a great day & enjoy this tune.

Nice & bright in the SF East Bay~58F which will become much warmer in the afternoon.

corner of the country today, with warmish meaning the low 50’s. Pink and white cherry blossoms are busting out all over the city and  even some deciduous trees are budding green.

Nice to see familiar faces here.

The blank button fills with a black dot when I click on it, all right and proper like, and there’s some virtual whirring and creaking, then the Completed! message comes on, just as one would suspect. However, when I refresh the page the fierce button is blank again and I don’t show up on the “who rated” list. Am I too new? Do I have a security widget on my computer that won’t let be be fierce?? Any ideas?

Seem as I can recommend diaries, though.
