    Here are some answers:

If there were a talking filibuster and you were a Senator filibustering something, what would YOU use (book, etc.) as your filibuster talk? Either the complete works of William Shakespeare or the Manhattan white pages.

What is the most beautiful rural place you have ever seen? Probably Iceland

What is the most beautiful urban place you have ever seen?

    Echmiadzen, Armenia.

    Risotto or Paella? Risotto.

What is your favorite one hit by a one hit wonder? 96 Tears, ? and the Mysterians.

What makes your most annoying neighbor so annoying? No close neighbors. My house is a wreck, but I have a lot of property.

  2. I am torn between this:

In 2 min, McCain has done a more thorough questioning of Hillary than his entire vetting process of Palin.

       – Jennifer Hayden (@Scout_Finch) January 23, 2013

    and this:

EXPLAINER: Rand Paul just leaves “according to World Net Daily” off of his accusations to avoid repetition.

       – LOLGOP (@LOLGOP) January 23, 2013

The question I saw on a headline this morning was “Will Benghazi Define Hillary Clinton’s Legacy?”. Are they kidding me? Benghazi as a “scandal” is a made up right-wing news story much like the breathless coverage of the 9/12 movement.

I will be back to read the hovers and partake in Belly Laugh Day.

And in honor of Compliment Day, may I say that your F Bombs are very bombacious.

Ten Percent Of U.S. High School Students Graduating Without Basic Object Permanence Skills

NRA Fights Legislation That Would Ban Gun Sales To Those Currently On Killing Sprees

List Of Politically Achievable Reforms Down To Just Three Minor Changes To Traffic Code

    And this:

62-Year-Old With Gun Only One Standing Between Nation And Full-Scale Government Takeover

“It is every American’s right to be good and armed, and that’s a right that should always be protected,” said Bailey, now the sole American protecting the nation from the government’s hidden plot of disarming all citizens, gradually gaining control of the mass media, and installing martial law throughout the nation’s streets.[…]

“What happens when the feds show up at your front door and start telling you how much meat you can eat or how to raise your kids?” continued the lifetime NRA member, brandishing the very weapon that now serves as the final hope of staving off a totalitarian state. “Is that the future you want?”

  4. If there were a talking filibuster and you were a Senator filibustering something, what would YOU use (book, etc.) as your filibuster talk? The script from Being There

What is the most beautiful rural place you have ever seen? Dorset, Ontario perhaps. Hard to choose, I could name northern New Mexico at dawn, here in the Smoky’s in a heartbeat or many others.

What is the most beautiful urban place you have ever seen? (Damn, these are hard!) I’ll take DC during cherry blossom time for $800, Alex.

    Risotto or Paella? Risotto.

What is your favorite one hit by a one hit wonder? Radar Love, Golden Earring. If you can’t get an immense speeding ticket listening to this late at night on the interstate you simply have no soul.

What makes your most annoying neighbor so annoying? (Sorry, you asked.) Our CA neighbor’s liberal-boomer-cliche sneering judgmentalism (“You’re moving to TN?!?! you know people there won’t accept you unless you agree with them on everything…” [facepalm]).

[unnecessary caveat: no ideology is either free from cliche foolishness or those who will perpetuate it. those do not represent the majority of realists who actually adhere to such ideologies. I love my liberal friends, am probably more liberal than other, hence folks who make my own views look like stupid cartoons make me want to spit]

  5. Its the Supreme Court Stupid

I was sure that it was named after John from Liverpool.

If there were a talking filibuster and you were a Senator filibustering something, what would YOU use (book, etc.) as your filibuster talk? The Lord of the Rings

What is the most beautiful rural place you have ever seen?  Middlebury, VT

What is the most beautiful urban place you have ever seen? Grand Central Terminal

    Risotto or Paella? Yes, please!

What is your favorite one hit by a one hit wonder? Everybdoy wants to ryule the world, by Tears for Fears

What makes your most annoying neighbor so annoying? Past tense.  When the girls were teething, I had a neighbor who reported us to child services.  She is (was) the lowest of pond scum.

  6. sricki

and I am THRILLED about that!

Love the tweets. Especially the one about Rand Paul’s hair. I was just talking with someone about that last night. Looks like a toupee to me, regardless of how real it might actually be. Like… a poodle’s toupee.

  7. jlms qkw

but the new weather is not strong enough to clean up the air.  so many accidents the law officials cannot get to them.

    umm, harry potter & LOTR.

segovia, spain, plaza, sunset, sangria, roman ruins.

    canyonlands NP.

    indifferent to fancy rice.

    golden earring – radar love

my neighbors are okay. they didn’t know that i only slept 3 hours tues night before they excavated their side yard wednesday.

  8. Floja Roja

For the filibuster, I’d go for Patrick Rothfuss, his Kingkiller Chronicles, and hope he has the last book done in time.

Most beautiful rural place? I am biased, but I’d say the Northern California Coastline, with the redwood forests coming in a close second.

Most beautiful urban place? Thus far, San Francisco.

Risotto or Paella? If I can get it without the dreaded seafood, Paella. Risotto is easier to make because no special pans are required.

One hit by a one hit wonder? The best, hands down, is The Only Ones, “Another Girl, Another Planet.”

What makes your most annoying neighbor so annoying? The freaking car alarm that goes off every. single. time. whoever it is (has not been determined yet) gets into their car.

  9. bubbanomics

    * If there were a talking filibuster and you were a Senator filibustering something, what would YOU use (book, etc.) as your filibuster talk?

Springer Verlang’s Texts in Applied Mathematics.  63 titles.

    * What is the most beautiful rural place you have ever seen?

    Bad Gastein, Austria

    * What is the most beautiful urban place you have ever seen?

    Venice, Italy.

    Risotto or Paella?

    Meh.

    * What is your favorite one hit by a one hit wonder?

    * What makes your most annoying neighbor so annoying?

Pretty much anything he does…but the stench and noise from the recycling/dumpster-diving operation he runs out of his house is the worst.

  10. kirbybruno

If there were a talking filibuster and you were a Senator filibustering something, what would YOU use (book, etc.) as your filibuster talk? I would MC a fashion show. They would have something to listen to and watch that way! Oh wait, is it supposed to be boring?

What is the most beautiful rural place you have ever seen? I would have to say driving through those fucking scary ass mountains on the way to Santa Cruz was pretty damn gorgeous!

What is the most beautiful urban place you have ever seen? Chicago, natch. I love the view at night from the LSD bridge over the Chicago River looking west towards downtown. Cannot be beat.

Risotto or Paella? Sure, why not! Can I have a glass of wine with that?

What is your favorite one hit by a one hit wonder? http://bit.ly/r8BnSf

What makes your most annoying neighbor so annoying? Do no get me started. Just don’t.

  11. raina

    Filibuster: my latest novel

Rural place: you said seen, not been, so I’d say Switzerland.

Urban place: I guess I’d say Hong Kong.

I’m a rice lover and I don’t discriminate. Never had paella, I don’t think, but I’m certain I’d love it.

That Thing You Do by the fictional group, The Oneders.

No really annoying neighbors. We keep to ourselves on both ends.

  12. JG in MD

    every single day.

Yesterday I was broke & skeert. Then I got a check in the mail from Wells Fargo for excess escrow (that’s fun to say). Now I can pay my bills for next month without wringing my hands (so hard on the rheumatiz, doncha know).

    I love surprises.

  13. raina

$539 from the doctor who did my wrist surgery. Their audit showed I overpaid. Feels like I won the lottery!

July 2010, I was at Wekiva Falls in Florida. There’s a pretty steep hill you have to cross to get to the swimming area, though there are concrete steps in some places. Anyhow, I was picking up toys when it started to rain, slipped and landed smack-dab on my palm, breaking the bone just above my wrist. I could see two bumps under my skin from the broken edges of the bone. This is the place. The ER doctor joked that that’s why it’s named Wekiva FALLS. Harhar.

it’s called The Mount and it is beautiful.   Morning Meeses & thank you once again Floja Roja for your creativity and creating a fun place to play!

  15. slksfca

…I’d read from Boswell’s Life of Johnson. Why? Because it would interest me and bore nearly everyone else. And it’s LONG, so I could go for days and days if necessary. ;-p

  16. princesspat

Good morning…..I’ll be back later to read and visit. Why would I make an early Dr. appointment….grrr!

  17. dear occupant

home sick so i have time to play.

lots of favs in this diary FR. Belushi, Zevon, Modigliani and now that hot writer with the big puffy shirt and woozles on her shoulder. is that considered classic author porn?

most beautiful rural place, the view from Mt. Katahdin in Maine, most beautiful urban place, New York, for all the right and wrong reasons, risotto or paella, only if someone else made it, talking filibuster, i don’t need no stinkin’ book, i’d just stand there with my hands covering my ears saying,LALALALA, just like they do, fav one hit wonder, i’ll be kinder than y’all and not provide anymore earworms, and my the first words out of the mouth of my downstairs neighbor after we invited her for coffee, shuddering she said,

    ‘OOHH, it’s so c l u t t e r e d in here!’

vile woman. i could write a book!

  18. Hedwig

See Hillary’s smirk when he said, “If I was President…”

Was he named after Ayn Rand?

The Lil dates are backwards…unless she was a time traveling, Benjamin Button type or something…

Although I do like the photo.

And Ann Todd looks like she just made it to the Pacific Ocean with Lewis and Clark…what an Explorer!

  19. Avilyn

    I need more coffee.

If there were a talking filibuster and you were a Senator filibustering something, what would YOU use (book, etc.) as your filibuster talk?

Dennis McKiernan’s Mithgar novels.  Dragondoom if I had to pick just one (although I suppose it would be lost on most of them).

What is the most beautiful rural place you have ever seen?

Oooh, that’s a toughie.  I’m gonna go with Northern Scotland though.

What is the most beautiful urban place you have ever seen?

In general, I have a huge dislike of urban places.  Edinburgh was nice though.

    Risotto or Paella?

Risotto, hands down.  But then I hate seafood.

What is your favorite one hit by a one hit wonder?

Tough call…  probably “Believe it or Not (theme from “Greatest American Hero)” by Joey Scarbury though.

What makes your most annoying neighbor so annoying?

Well, technically not neighbors, but I’m on the town border, and across the street from us is a different town/different county, which is zoned residential, and has a strip mall… with an Irish Pub.  Said Irish Pub tends to have loud blaring outdoor music in the summer, and loud drunks at night year round.  Even with windows shut, noise leaks in.

  20. sarahnity

“What are you talking about?  There was no $5000 check you deposited in an ATM!”

And this, boys and girls, is why those new ATMS that give you an image of your check on the receipt are golden.  And why you should always keep your receipts.

They eventually found it sitting on someone’s desk.  Someone, I would hope would soon be fired, but I’m sure that ain’t gonna happen.

  21. slksfca

Not the healthiest (eggs, home fries and a pancake) but nicely filling. đŸ™‚

And I noticed that I was almost the only person in the restaurant not buried in an iPhone or tablet (except for two chatty groups of four). Am I the only one left who is content with his own random thoughts during a solitary meal?

  22. princesspat

I’ve been sitting that way for over a year now…..and I’m becoming quite shameless about it!

Thanks Floja…..the F Bomb is a daily pleasure.
