Lots of goodness afoot with the jobs bill.
Booyah!
Why should we fight for it? In the words of Representative Emanuel Cleaver, “Jobs.” Yes, it’s got tax breaks, but they are overwhelmingly of the “contingent upon hiring” variety. Obama’s jobs bill also aims to keep the employee-side payroll tax cut that started last December, which is, apparently, the only tax cut the GOP doesn’t like.
It will also expand the nation’s broadband infrastructure, bringing a lot of rural communities into the 21st century in the process. This point is very important, because a lot of the money raised by auctioning off broadband spectrum is to be applied to the deficit. So, if anyone starts in about how whatever Obama is negotiating is all/cuts/no revenue/teh suck, you know one place you can point them.
