Thanks to all the Mooses for their gracious welcome. The Purge and Kos-Out of 2011 led a bunch of us here. Would we act like the Bumpus’ hounds in The Christmas Story, wolfing down all the turkey and destroying the screen door on the way out?
After a week, it’s hard to say. I’ve wandered back to the dailykos, but only to chat with a few old friends. I’m liking it here, and I plan to stick around. Maybe someday I’ll even write a real diary.
So, everybody else’s spin-up diaries contained some reasoning about moving here or blogging, so I feel compelled to add just a bit. Feel free to skip down to the Meh bits.
What I viewed as the horrors of the Bush administration got me to participating at the dailykos, but it hasn’t taken long for our side to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
I want to contribute to problem-solving.
I want to contribute to making life better for us all.
Building a house takes a lot of planning, but it takes even more work to build it up, steady, tedious, step-at-a-time work. Imagine laying bricks with 1500 people yelling that it’s not going fast enough, they’re not uniform in color and texture, the mortar’s too runny, the sand is too coarse, the trowel is getting dirty… Yikes.
There’s a lot of work to be done. Most of it ain’t done by typing on a blog. But having a place to chat about the work without getting electronic spittle flecked all over would be nice. And I think this is a place for that. Thanks, Meeses.
