Thursday Morning Herd Check-in

Make sure you let your peeps

  know where to find you!

PLEASE Do Not Recommend the check-in diary

Fierces on the Weather Critter Comment are obligatory welcome.

The morning check-in is an open thread posted to give you a place to visit with the meeses. Feel free to chat about your weather, share a bit of your life, grump (if you must), rave (if you can). The diarist du jour sometimes posts and runs, other times sticks around for a bit, often returns throughout the day and always cares that meeses are happy … or at least contented.

For those new to the Moose, Kysen left a Moose Welcome Mat (Part Deux) so, please, wipe your feet before you walk in the front door start posting.

The important stuff to get you started:

– Comments do not Auto-refresh. Click the refresh/reload on your tab to see new ones. Only click Post once for comments. When a diary’s comment threads grow, the page takes longer to refresh and the comment may not display right away.

– To check for replies to your comments, click the “My Comments” link in the right-hand column (or go to “My Moose”). Comments will be listed and a link to Recent Replies will be shown. (Note: Tending comments builds community)

– Ratings: Fierce means Thumbs Up, Fail means Thumbs Down, Meh means one of three things: I am unFailing you but I can’t Fierce you, I am unFiercing after a mistaken Fierce, … or Meh. Just Meh. (p.s. Ratings don’t bestow mojo, online behaviour does).

– The Recommended list has a prominent place on the Front Page because it reflects the interests of the Moose. When people drive-by, we want them to see what we are talking about: news, politics, science, history, personal stories, culture. The list is based on number of recs and days on the list. Per Kysen: “The best way to control Rec List content is to ONLY rec diaries you WANT to see ON the list.

– Finally, the posting rules for a new diary: “Be excellent to each other… or else

(Some other commenting/posting/tending notes for newbies can be found in this past check-in and, of course, consult Meese Mehta for all your questions on meesely decorum.)

  1. Have a great day, meeses!

Spring will be springing in at 16:57 UTC today or 1:57pm as we say in Central Daylight Time.

I can see Spring from here, too. 🙂

Why does everything happen on the same day?

I’m having breakfast with Fred this morning and going to a meetup to greet Chacounne this evening.

Missing Zumba this morning so I kinda worked out yesterday (set timer for 15 mins, run around the apt till it goes off) to make up for it.

This is sixth day of being off Lamictal (after a month-long taper). Between that, the snow and the hay fever I practically have to write my name on my hand to remember who I am this week.

I see a couple of y’all have seen my diary – thanks! I went with Beautiful Day for the song. Might still edit & switch to Invisible, which is my current earworm. (There is no them, there’s only us. There is no them, there’s only you, there’s only me). Or I could use them both.

Crappy night’s sleep, of course. I bought some “tea concentrate” last weekend, I don’t quite drink it straight – just because it is too sweet that way. I add some water, then some instant tea. Having that with my breakfast frittata & an apple.

It’s gorgeous again. Jacket weather this morning, then 70s this afternoon. Bummed I won’t be joining my workout group this evening, but I have to mind the diary at the orange place — if it gets that much attention. (see, of I went to my workout, it would make the Rec List & I wouldn’t be there to comment & people would complain about a drive-by diary. But if I don’t go, it’s only going to get about 10 comments)

also the wind has died down.  QC tonght.  Don’t know whether it will be good, bad, or indifferent.  I’m going to miss the County employees (and they’ve already told me they’re going to miss me – I support the people who serve County residents and apparently that’s rare) and I’m going to miss the money (my income’s going to drop by about 20% starting next January) but I’m not going to miss the meetings.  Oh well, Happy Equinox Moosylvania!  {{{HUGS}}} bf

A Brigadoon-like fog early this morning has melted away to a brilliant blue sky and little powder puffs of white cloud. The birds are tweeting happily that it’s a lovely day for the equinox and the temperature, currently 49 F., will rise to 57 F.

Have been staying very busy and will get busier! Got to learn how to tweet now that I have something to tweet about. My e-book, The Deer at Lammas Tide: Nine Sabbat Tales, is is now published at Smashwords.com. Briefly, short stories describe how, between one Lammas and the next, practitioners of the Craft of the Wise encounter magick in their lives.

Lots more writing to do! Jan, I’ll come back to read your Ostara diary when Spring arrives this afternoon. I love all special days.

Just saw the wind tear the neighbor’s garbage out of the Recyclables box and redistribute it across the neighbor’s lawn, to say nothing of the street. Hold on to your hats, everyone, and have a good day!

I enjoyed my grand girls orchestra concert last night. She is leaning the violin, and overall the 6th grade group was surprisingly musical. Her music teacher was also her mom’s teacher and it was fun to watch her enthusiasm for teaching and to see the room full of generational changes.

I wish I was spiritually advanced enough to wish him peace in the Summerlands, but I don’t.
