Motley Monday Check in and Mooselaneous Musings

 photo iz-dis-fing-on_zpsa847a99a.jpg

Good morning Motley Meese! Hope your weekend was lovely.

PLEASE Don’t Recommend the check-in diary!

Fierces on the weather jar comment are still welcome.

The morning check-in is an open thread and general social hour. Come back when time allows through the day – the conversation continues.

It’s traditional but not obligatory to give us a weather check where you are and let us know what’s new, interesting, challenging or even routine in your life lately. Nothing is particularly obligatory here except:

Always remember the Moose Golden (Purple?) Rule:

Be kind to each other… or else.

What could be simpler than that, right?

Heading for a high of only 72 before Autumn finally re-asserts itself this afternoon. Also rain. 10% now, but 90% chance this afternoon and 100% chance this evening.

It was like summer this weekend and I spent it reading. Ah, the sedentary joys of a broken foot. Hopefully only two more weeks of this cast!

    Happy Monday, Meeses.

  3. That is one hellacious Monday face!! Mine is pretty scary also but with less fur. Although I do need a haircut.

It is 46 degrees and raining. The rain will end by 8am and head to the Shenandoah Valley. 🙂 Our high is expected to be 66 degrees (at around 3pm) then the temperature drops again.

Back to the grind for me! PLEASE stay out of trouble, all y’alls.

Heading into the Big Apple today for my godson’s birthday – a nasty day for a drive since we have thunderstorms in the forecast.  I plan to head home around 4PM to beat the commuter traffic (hopefully)

Was surprised to see a clock featured on the front page of online USA Today (which I don’t often visit) which is tracking the cost of the shutdown

    http://www.usatoday.com/

As I post the clock says $1,872,145,305

The federal government shutdown costs $12.5 million an hour, according to estimates. The count-up clock shows the total since Oct. 1

It’s still dark o’clock here so I can’t see the weather but we had a weekend of warm afternoons and cool (40’s) nights.  The colder nights are the tip-off that it is indeed fall and not still summer.  Hmm… weather widget says it might rain Wednesday… that would be another tip-off!

Off to work.  Take care everyone!

Eating breakfast on my couch, watching the news. It’s in the 50s right now, I may wait on my bike ride till this afternoon & it has warmed up to the 80s, I don’t want to have to wear long sleeves.

Planning on doing very little today. Other than exercise to make sure I sleep tonight. After all, the whole point is rest.

Missed my meds yesterday, just took today’s, this morning has been frighteningly energetic and focused.

I cleared up the kitchen last night and went through kitteh-feeding and coffee-making this morning with ferocious efficiency, not a motion wasted.

Rain expected Here Near DC, must go to bank and supermarket, then work on editing novel. Will take laptop to Panera and maybe tuck up in one of their easy chairs.

My late sister’s birthday is tomorrow. Watch this space.

    Love you all,

    Jill

Can’t wait for the rain; can’t wait for the first freeze, to lay my allergies to rest.

Gym this morning, then to my work.  Have GOT to do some work today.

Finished most of the Christmas shopping this weekend, by catalogue.  A few years ago we made a rule that the kids will get handsome Christmas presents, but if gifts are exchanged among family members, they should be under $20.  It’s hard to find anything under $20 nowadays.

So that’s it for me this morning!  Waiting for hubby to make the coffee.  (I had to make coffee over the years for so many assorted males, both within the family and without, that now I refuse to do it.)

Here’s hoping everyone will have a good day!

My best friend, who lived around the corner from me, went on to college at MIT. He got a PhD from Northwestern. We had a lot of fun building short wave radios, stringing antenna wires and playing with electricity and chemicals.

He became a theoretical physicist, and was an early researcher with cloud chambers. That was when a lab could not go out and buy one, so he learned glassblowing. He made his own cloud chambers. Some of his dense matter research is pioneering. As a result, I have been watching the physics awards with great interest every October for the past thirty years. If his wife and I hold him down and we have some help, we may be able to get him into a tux should the need arise.

For a retired person, I have a long list of things to do today. Hope everyone had a nice weekend and isn’t too stressed with the Monday blahs.

    My firewood stash is low (my firewood guy got tick fever in August and didn’t tell me until I contacted him to ask “why no firewood delivery” in September – I’m very sorry he had tick fever but I would have appreciated it if he’d let me know so I could get wood somewhere else before it was mostly gone), so the furnace went on yesterday.  It didn’t actually come on until around midnight, but it got turned on once I finished my weekly baking yesterday morning.  I have a nice, tight house – the wall insulation, house wrap, and Energy Star windows may never pay for themselves in dollars but they already have in comfort.  ðŸ™‚  {{{HUGS}}}
