Thursday Morning Herd Check-in: Greetings of the Meeses

Make sure you let your peeps

  know where to find you!

PLEASE Do Not Recommend the check-in diary

Fierces on the Weather Critter Comment are obligatory welcome.

The morning check-in is an open thread posted to give you a place to visit with the meeses. Feel free to chat about your weather, share a bit of your life, grump (if you must), rave (if you can). The diarist du jour sometimes posts and runs, other times sticks around for a bit, often returns throughout the day and always cares that meeses are happy … or at least contented.

For those new to the Moose, Kysen left a Moose Welcome Mat (Part Deux) so, please, wipe your feet before you walk in the front door start posting.

The important stuff to get you started:

– Comments do not Auto-refresh. Click the refresh/reload on your tab to see new ones. Only click Post once for comments. When a diary’s comment threads grow, the page takes longer to refresh and the comment may not display right away.

– To check for replies to your comments, click the “My Comments” link in the right-hand column (or go to “My Moose”). Comments will be listed and a link to Recent Replies will be shown. (Note: Tending comments builds community)

– Ratings: Fierce means Thumbs Up, Fail means Thumbs Down, Meh means one of three things: I am unFailing you but I can’t Fierce you, I am unFiercing after a mistaken Fierce, or Meh. Just Meh. (p.s. Ratings don’t bestow mojo, online behaviour does).

– The Recommended list has a prominent place on the Front Page because it reflects the interests of the Moose. When people drive-by, we want them to see what we are talking about: news, politics, science, history, personal stories, culture. The list is based on number of recs and days on the list. Per Kysen: “The best way to control Rec List content is to ONLY rec diaries you WANT to see ON the list.

– Finally, the posting rules for a new diary: “Be excellent to each other… or else

(Some other commenting/posting/tending notes for newbies can be found in this past check-in and, of course, consult Meese Mehta for all your questions on meesely decorum.)

Let the greetings begin!

out the web on Republican madness and then heading out to acupuncture so I can start my day with some some serenity and mobility. Hope it’s a good day for all.

Physical therapy, doctor’s appointment and the most important thing of all, today is Frank’s Birthday!

Hope the rest of the herd has a wonderful day as well.

Up well before dawn so I’m here on time for once. 🙂

Predicted high at the beach today: 66°F and sunny. Warmer downtown (low 70s). I live in-between but closer to the beach so my neighborhood will probably see about 68°.

Tomorrow night a friend is taking me to a club to see Tommy Tune live on stage. Way above my budget but my friend is kindly treating. Will be fun to see a living legend whom I’ve admired for decades in an intimate cabaret setting. Now I just have to scrounge up something to wear since I’m in between fat clothes and skinny clothes and nothing seems to fit. I don’t even care if I’m stylish, so long as I’m fully dressed. 🙂

Back at work today. Eyes feel much better. Did wake up in the 3 o’clock hour, but I have tea so I’ll live.

Back to wearing sandals. And the extended forecast does not have me thinking I’ll need shoes & socks any time real soon. Mid to upper 90s, but no triple digits.

Yesterday was so nice, on so many levels. I’m pretty happy this morning. Earworm: In The End by the cute Scottish boys: “In the end, there’s nothing more to life than love, is there?”

    Lovely walking home weather – I have to leave too early to walk in (not quite daylight) but since I either carpool or ride the bus in, I can choose to walk home anytime I wish (like today).  FYI – I won’t be online tomorrow (definitely not in the morning, maybe in the afternoon) – the foot dr wants one last look at the scar.  It’s small and on the side rather than actually on the bottom of my foot so it doesn’t cause a problem with walking, but it is still sensitive to pressure (when I rub the ointment on it) so he wants to check.  The appt is for morning, but you never know when you actually will see a dr who is also a surgeon.  Everybody have a lovely day and weekend, whether or not I’m here tomorrow to wish it for you 🙂  {{{HUGS}}}

Going to be mid-70’s today, but I’ll mostly be inside, doing envelopes for tomorrow’s delivery. Also going to cook up the last pick of tomatoes, and make minestrone for dinner. Yum.

    Have a glorious day!

I’m listening to President Obama speak re the ACA……a refreshing change from the lying R’s. He is very clearly explaining the the steps people need to take and the changes it will make in their lives. He’s also generously thanking the R’s who are cooperating and noting that many are not.

“Why don’t they want you to have health care?” “What’s all the fuss about?” “What are the R’s so mad about?”

    Good questions!
