Tuesday Morning Herd Check-in: Greetings of the Moosekin

Make sure you let your peeps

  know where to find you!

PLEASE Do Not Recommend the check-in diary!

Fierces on the Weather Critter Comment are obligatory welcome.

The morning check-in is an open thread posted to give you a place to visit with the meeses. Feel free to chat about your weather, share a bit of your life, grump (if you must), rave (if you can). The diarist du jour sometimes posts and runs, other times sticks around for a bit, often returns throughout the day and always cares that meeses are happy … or at least contented.

For those new to the Moose, Kysen left a Moose Welcome Mat (Part Deux) so, please, wipe your feet before you walk in the front door start posting.

The important stuff to get you started:

– Comments do not Auto-refresh. Click the refresh/reload on your tab to see new ones. Only click Post once for comments. When a diary’s comment threads grow, the page takes longer to refresh and the comment may not display right away.

– To check for replies to your comments, click the “My Comments” link in the right-hand column (or go to “My Moose”). Comments will be listed and a link to Recent Replies will be shown. (Note: Tending comments builds community)

– Ratings: Fierce means Thumbs Up, Fail means Thumbs Down, Meh means one of three things: I am unFailing you but I can’t Fierce you, I am unFiercing after a mistaken Fierce, or Meh. Just Meh. (p.s. Ratings don’t bestow mojo, online behaviour does).

– The Recommended list has a prominent place on the Front Page because it reflects the interests of the Moose. When people drive-by, we want them to see what we are talking about: news, politics, science, history, personal stories, culture. The list is based on number of recs and days on the list. Per Kysen: “The best way to control Rec List content is to ONLY rec diaries you WANT to see ON the list.

– Finally, the posting rules for a new diary: “Be excellent to each other… or else

(Some other commenting/posting/tending notes for newbies can be found in this past check-in and, of course, consult Meese Mehta for all your questions on meesely decorum.)

Let the greetings begin!

70 here, going up to 87. Am still jetlagged, obsessed with Syria and going off to vote for DeBlasio. Hope it’s a good day for Democrats across the nation’s polling places.

We have three days of ‘ot, ‘umid, and ‘orrible weather, followed by a blessedly cool weekend.

Made the last blueberry cobbler of the season a couple of days ago, and an apple pie out of our own apples on Sunday.  Went Googling on the Net and found out one can make applesauce and freeze it!  And for no-cook apple sauce, you wash, peel, and cut up the apples, put them in bags, and take them out of the freezer when you want sauce.  Then you just mush them up.  Might try that.  Gave away three lots of apples on Freecycle yesterday but we’re still getting lots more.

Wanted to work on my short story last night but had Baby Duty until 8:15 p.m., after which I lost the desire to to sit in front of a screen. Perhaps this afternoon I can work in it–time’s getting short.

Hope everyone will have a good day!

    That’s practically cold for Austin.

Eating breakfast, drinking tea. Is there maybe possibly some home this morning on Syria? I sure hope this latest idea works.

Woke up at 4. Again. Sigh. But now I know the ambien was a waste of money because I was waking up even on it. Doesn’t make this any better.

Hi ev’ybuddy. Done my exercises, finished my coffee. Looking outside at golden leaves among the green, sighing.

I’m glad there is no rain in the forecast.  At this moment, above my head, roof shingles are being scraped off and a new one installed.  Later this morning I’ll sign the lease on my brand new apartment and maybe even get to see it.  I’ve got the floor plan but I want to see the actual finishes.  The building doesn’t officially open until Saturday and I’ll spend the week-end moving in.  Just want it to be over.

Leg hurt a lot at Big Lots and now I know why that happens some places: it’s stores with hard floors. Target is awful but I lean on the shopping cart. Big Lots aisles are too narrow for carts.

Bought Hobo Bread at Trader Joe’s. I hear that Hobo Bread is drawing people into sin all over the country. I haven’t tried it yet, but a friend told me of its divine decadence and addictive properties. Beware or indulge, as you choose, but don’t say I didn’t warn you.

I’n slow starting my day because I slept until 9:00….yay! Once I get going I’ll have enough energy to be dangerous 🙂

Tired today.  On my second latte, and I even had a rare Mountain Dew.  Hasn’t helped.

Hoping De Blasio wins without need for a run-off election.

Keeping my fingers crossed on the whole Syria situation and for the newest developments (handing over the chem weapons for destruction) works out and there’s no need for any military intervention.  I’m tired of war.

Have stuff I need to be doing at work but I don’t feel like I have the brain power to be doing them right now.

Wow, I’m whiny today.  Sorry about that.

that’s about it.  Problems – if I ever write about them on the internet it won’t be from my work computer – but could use blessings, good wishes, prayers, or whatever you can shake loose.  Thanks, bf
