Thursday Morning Herd Check-in: Greetings of the Moosekin

Make sure you let your peeps

  know where to find you!

PLEASE Do Not Recommend the check-in diary

Fierces on the Weather Critter Comment are obligatory welcome.

The morning check-in is an open thread posted to give you a place to visit with the meeses. Feel free to chat about your weather, share a bit of your life, grump (if you must), rave (if you can). The diarist du jour sometimes posts and runs, other times sticks around for a bit, often returns throughout the day and always cares that meeses are happy … or at least contented.

For those new to the Moose, Kysen left a Moose Welcome Mat (Part Deux) so, please, wipe your feet before you walk in the front door start posting.

The important stuff to get you started:

– Comments do not Auto-refresh. Click the refresh/reload on your tab to see new ones. Only click Post once for comments. When a diary’s comment threads grow, the page takes longer to refresh and the comment may not display right away.

– To check for replies to your comments, click the “My Comments” link in the right-hand column (or go to “My Moose”). Comments will be listed and a link to Recent Replies will be shown. (Note: Tending comments builds community)

– Ratings: Fierce means Thumbs Up, Fail means Thumbs Down, Meh means one of three things: I am unFailing you but I can’t Fierce you, I am unFiercing after a mistaken Fierce, or Meh. Just Meh. (p.s. Ratings don’t bestow mojo, online behaviour does).

– The Recommended list has a prominent place on the Front Page because it reflects the interests of the Moose. When people drive-by, we want them to see what we are talking about: news, politics, science, history, personal stories, culture. The list is based on number of recs and days on the list. Per Kysen: “The best way to control Rec List content is to ONLY rec diaries you WANT to see ON the list.

– Finally, the posting rules for a new diary: “Be excellent to each other… or else

(Some other commenting/posting/tending notes for newbies can be found in this past check-in and, of course, consult Meese Mehta for all your questions on meesely decorum.)

Let the greetings begin!

I won’t be working today, or at least not REAL work. I’ll be in process improvement team meetings all day today and tomorrow. Also Wednesday through Friday of next week. All of which leaves me only two ‘real’ work days left at this job, and I’ll spend half of one of them at the DMV getting tags for wood trailers.

    Short timers, I haz it.

of NY, rain and thunder on the way.  Am trying to drag myself around to get some work done – very tired from a very long day yesterday with many guests, first ones arrived 10AM -last to leave 10:00 PM.

Everyone ate multiple helpings of food, had a good time, but the effort to pull it all off makes me want to just get back in bed and sleep for a few days 🙂

At least today I have peace and semi-quiet  – even the roosters are muted due to the approaching storm.

the low 80s today and thunder may or may not come. The 4th Brandenburg is on the radio cheering NY up. Have a long day ahead, starting with acupuncture. Before I leave, though, must write a few letters, the real kind with paper, ink and stamps. Remember those? Hope it’s a good day for all Meese and all the news is good news.

that’s a good idea though… I’m stressing out, big time.  Which is leading to stress eating and I’ve been putting on weight.  My shoulder is still bothering me, even though I pass every evaluation for any rotator cuff deficit.  I have a feeling that it has something to do with my two workstations (the one here at home and the one at work).

Sorry I haven’t posted much lately. Was battling a bit of depression (for those that don’t know me, I have dealt with that demon for about 4 decades now). However, a med adjustment has done wonders – once iriti talked me into going back to the doctor. So, all’s well right now.

Had an upper endoscopy yesterday to check my Barrett ‘s Esophagus, and it seems to be healing itself, amazingly enough. That made me very happy!

Off to work for me. Have a good one, everybody.

starting around noon in northern Virginia.  I have to work at headquarters this afternoon–hope there’s something decent for me to do there.

Went to the dermatologist’s office yesterday, after waiting six weeks for the appointment–behold, she’d gone home sick! I almost wept as I described the misery of my present existence–the itching that wakes me up in the middle of the night to scratch my neck or my forearm.  The nurse asked why I wasn’t using the prescribed ointment.  “She told me not to use it for a week before this appointment,” I replied.  And this doctor is going to be on vacation next week!

“What about the other dermatologist,” I asked.  “Any hope of getting in to see her?”  “Oh, no, she’s way overbooked as it is,” the receptionist said.

Well, of course she was overbooked: she’s as beautiful as a movie star and by the time I turned to slink off in a huff there was already a long line of people, stretching all the way back to the door, to see her.

There’s a chance I’ll be able to get an appointment on Friday morning, which ruins other plans I had made to go to the lab and get blood drawn, but never mind. I can do that next week.  In the meantime, itch, itch, itch and gritch, gritch, gritch!

Everyone else–hope you have a jolly Thor’s Day!

I came in to work today & literally everything had been unplugged because the carpets were cleaned last night. So I had to plug everything back in. Glad I don’t dress up for work, I’d have been annoyed crawling around on the floor putting power strips back.

Eating breakfast, drinking tea & finally checking the intertubez.

Worked yesterday.  Crazy day for the clinic.  Lots of sick puppies and crazy cases.  We were only two docs when we needed at least three there.  My 9-4 shift turned into a 9-7:30 shift.  The full timers said this is how it has been all summer.  They are burned out!  Sooooooo glad I don’t work full time anymore there.  The hours were insane and it appears to have gotten worse.

Needless to say, I am glad to be home with my kids today.  Lovely weather too!

be embarking on the filming of the magnum opus “Love Story” 21st century style, starring Carlos Danger and Sydney Leathers, right after the NYC Democratic party primary. Let’s wish Carlos all the best in his natural profession.

very glad you aren’t vacationing this week at Lake of the Ozarks.  While they haven’t received as much rain as south central MO, it has been very wet and miserable at the lakes.  It will rain again today over the same area of the state that has received so much water over the past few days.  It is supposed to shift a bit to the north, which means we are forecast to get potentially heavy rain overnight and tomorrow.

It’s actually raining here right now. In August. I’m officially discombobulated. #WeirdestSummerEver.

  12. Nurse Kelley

We’re having a strange summer, too, but the best kind: wet. After years of drought and fires, it’s nice to see the rain totals climbing all over this part of Colorado. I had to turn the heat on yesterday for a while, but that’s okay.

My feline patient continues to improve. His huge corneal ulcer was 70% smaller on Monday, so I hope tomorrow’s recheck will find it healed. He’s very very very very tired of eyedrops, eye gels, and eye ointments.

    My cherry tree is happy.  The pre-Fall semester frenzy is getting frenzier but I am getting a few things checked off my list.  QC update for critter lovers – we passed out of committee the Animal Shelter request for a full-time vet, 2nd vet tech, and a “floater” with only 1 no vote, but the request for additional exercise kennels just barely made it (Chair had to break the tie).  The final approval (or not) will come at next Thursday’s full Quorum Court meeting.  On the personal/health front my back is almost as sore from the chiropractic visit as it was before I went (and she wants to see me next week to make sure the adjustments “took”) – I was out at the #3 vertebrae in every section of my back and neck.  I don’t think the homeopathic thing I’m trying for the chronic sinusitis is working but it was worth a try.  Anyway, hope everybody has a stellar day.  {{{HUGS}}}

Our plumbing works again….yay! They finally had to call in “the bruiser” a 2 man jetter to break up the clog. The plumbers were worried it might also break the old pipes but they survived to clog another day, so all’s well.

My sister arrived last evening and the rest of the family comes on Saturday so I’ll be busy with lots of RL fun but I’ll check in whenever I can.

  15. slksfca

This one of my youngest sister and me is from the mid-’60s. The stink-eye is from having to squint into the sun. Youngest sister is now a (step-)grandmother! 🙂

I am pooped! But my day is not yet over. We’re making twice-daily trips to take care of BIL’s cat (who has been recently diagnosed with kidney disease). Went shopping for a couple of items, gave MIL a bath, and processed tomatoes to can for sauce.

Fortunately, I managed to fit in a nap, too. 😀
