Motley Monday Check in and Mooselaneous Musings

Good morning Motley Meese! Hope your weekend was lovely. Mine could have been exhausting – 410 miles each way to take Mom back to Tennessee, but Kidlet drove all but one hour the whole trip. Payback for all my years as a chauffeur, I guess.

PLEASE Don’t Recommend the check-in diary!

Fierces on the weather jar comment are still welcome.

This week’s shot is from a couple of weeks ago in Catoctin, MD. This is unretouched as it came off the camera. I just loved how this flower almost glowed in the light.

The morning check-in is an open thread and general social hour. Come back when time allows through the day – the conversation continues.

It’s traditional but not obligatory to give us a weather check where you are and let us know what’s new, interesting, challenging or even routine in your life lately. Nothing is particularly obligatory here except:

Always remember the Moose Golden (Purple?) Rule:

Be kind to each other… or else.

What could be simpler than that, right?

55 degrees (in August?!?!?) here in the Shenandoah Valley, headed for a high of 79.

Lovely but absolutely exhausting weekend here. Friday I shopped. I’ve worked manufacturing admin for well over 20 years; previous two jobs have been ‘floor office’ dress of jeans and decent shirt plus steel toes or closed tennis shoes. New job is ‘front office’ and therefore business casual. Number of non-jeans pants I owned was less than one.

Saturday, trs and I visited DC and clocked 8.13 miles of monument walking.

Sunday was back to school shopping for Kidlet, supplies and clothes. It was Virginia tax-free weekend and all the stores always have great sales that weekend, so we did really well for both her and me. Biggest expenditures: we both splurged on our feet. I got a pair of clogs, she got a pair of cowboy boots (I know, I know, but they’re stylish right now).

Did I mention I hate to clothes shop? So does Kidlet.

  2. 59 degrees here in Madison WI on its way up to 71 with storms in the forecast.

That Corgi is one of my very favorite Monday LOLs. Thank you for making my Monday suck less. 🙂

And ita coming  later and later….

But it’s a fabulously cool morning! I welcome it after the heat.

Iriti, I hate shopping for clothes as well.  Congrats on finding what you need for your new job!

54 degrees at dark-o’clock in the morning here.  Dreading going in to work today as the boss thinks I’m supposed to be able to finish something in three days that should really take six weeks to do right, or at least three weeks to do crappy.  Sigh.  At least the commute should be okay — the threatened BART transit strike has been averted for at a week by order of the governor.

    Have a happy day, Meeses!

that I have that are literally falling apart after 10-12 years.

One round of rain has gone through and maybe a couple more today.  Mid 60’s this morning with upper 70’s later today.  I’m missing the sun rise before 6am…. I detest the long dark days.

Eating breakfast – oats soaked in almond milk with cinnamon, cherries, blueberries, mango & papaya, oh & hemp seeds.

    Earworm – Michael Franti’s I Love You.

Thought about riding my bike to work roday, put swim stuff in trunk instead. Might make preps tonight for a Wednesday bike ride. It really doesn’t feel that hot to me – evening outdoor workout last thursday actually felt good.

I need to do an e-mail for the Walk, but the website doesn’t have any of my old templates. So I have to start from scratch or use one of theirs. Sigh. Monday.

Someone on “Good morning, Merrycar” said we’d have a cooler than normal August.  Sounds great to me!  Any time we can turn off the air conditioning and breathe actual air is a good time.

Must, must catch up on e-mail this morning, work on blog commemorating late father’s birthday, go to the gym, and clean up at least one room of this ghastly house. The goal is to clean all the public rooms by Saturday morning. The entire family is coming Saturday to celebrate Dearly Beloved’s birthday, which actually isn’t until the 13th, but it falls inconveniently on a Tuesday this year.

Damn dog woke me up barking by my bedside because he was hungry. No wonder I look so haggard–no beauty sleep!

    Everyone have a good day!

I don’t like shopping either but at least you have a good reason. We have nice weather right now, clear blue sunny skies and no wind. It will get hot later but the we are supposed to stay just under 100 all week. What saves us is that it cools off as soon as the sun sets and the mornings are really nice.

It’s a glorious morning here; doesn’t really feel like August. Sixty degrees for the low, and supposed to be 79 again today.

Got the bedroom area rearranged and cleaned yesterday, and I’m pretty happy with that. There’s more stuff to put away, which I hope to do today, and I want to warp my loom today. Maybe can some salsa, since I have a bagful of tomatoes waiting.

Hold a good thought for my pootie patient. He sees the vet at 1:00 to determine if his corneal ulcer is healing enough to avoid surgery.

Somewhat less foggy, but even more overcast. No relief in sight until possibly next Sunday, and even then only for the sunnier side of town.

Been watching a lot of TV, mostly old sitcoms like The Dick Van Dyke Show and old westerns like Wagon Train. Summertime television is pretty barren in terms of new programming.

    for Fay, AR – just about right for the old normal of 30 years back – so not exactly comfortable (too humid) but it won’t kill you either.  About half my stuff got through the approval chain as of this morning so I’ve been dealing with it.  Hope everybody has a much-less-sucky-Monday thanks to the corgi pup up top 🙂  {{{HUGS}}}
