Motley Monday Check in and Mooselaneous Musings

Good morning Motley Meese! Hope your weekend was lovely. Remember to let your peeps know where you are!

PLEASE Do Not Recommend the check-in diary!

Recs on the weather jar comment are still welcome.

Here’s today’s Motley Monday Shot of the Week. I took this at Catoctin, MD on Saturday.

Catoctin Zoo Trip-1

The morning check-in is an open thread and general social hour. Come back when time allows through the day – the conversation continues.

It’s traditional but not obligatory to give us a weather check where you are and let us know what’s new, interesting, challenging or even routine in your life lately. Nothing is particularly obligatory here except:

Always remember the Moose Golden (Purple?) Rule:

Be kind to each other… or else.

What could be simpler than that, right?

Hot all week. Actually only 65 right now but headed for a high of 93 or 95 depending on who you ask.

    Good morning all. Happy Monday.

  2. 67 degrees here in Madison WI on its way up to 88 degrees. Forecast calls for highs of 88, 89, 91 over the next 3 days. This is traditionally the hot part of summer, the last two weeks of July and August.

Is it too soon to wish that kids were back in school? Just asking.

I have my new computer set up and I am about 85% productive (not all my programs have been migrated yet). I have to decide if I like the keyboard that came with it or if I will go back to the old one. This one is noisier and the sound of typing is keeping me awake!! I find the Windows 7 “active” taskbar a bit annoying and, if I have time for research, I will see if there is a way to make it less sensitive. I do like it to show me which windows I have open (this is a huge timesaver when I am connected to client’s computers) but sometimes when I am moving my mouse I am just, you know, moving my mouse and if it accidentally runs over the taskbar, the flying screens skeer me.

Try to stay out of trouble, all y’alls!!

Haven’t had much rain in more than two weeks now… it’s showing.  Right shoulder is getting better, still has issues, but not as bad.  Woke up at 3.30 with a headache – it hasn’t gone away yet…. makes for a very lovely Monday!

here in the Hudson Valley – instead we have a ” ** Severe weather warning ** Heat Advisory” which informs us “* Heat index values… around 100 degrees.”

Guess I’ll stay indoors again today sitting under a ceiling fan, drinking water and blogging.

My garden will just have to survive without me 🙂

so far we’ve gotten almost a quarter of an inch and are predicted to get as much as 5 to 6 inches in the next three days. It’s also 15 degrees cooler than it has been, our highs the next few days are what we’ve been seeing as morning lows. It’s a nice break but if we do get that much rain we will have flooding. We sit on a hill so we’ve never had any problems but not far from us is the low spot in the county and that floods rather impressively with this much rain.

I’m going to have to work at least until Noon.  Some brush fires arose for clients on Saturday that I couldn’t deal with because we were the only ones open, so I am making the referral calls today.

It also looks like crashing and burning on Sunday afternoons is developing into a pattern.  Once again, I went down for a nap at about 2:30 and didn’t wake up until after bedtime, putzed about for awhile, and then hit the sack again.  When one has so little time off, it feels a little like being cheated when so much of it gets slept away.

Low turnout at Mass yesterday.  Some regulars were on vacation, and others were just AWOL.  I don’t know whether it being rodeo week here in town has anything to do with it, but it may very well be a factor.

Time for another cup of coffee or three.  Wishin’ all Moosebegotten a wonderful day.

Happy, happy dance – it might rain all week!!!!! Our high today might not get out of the 80s. That’s a normal low for this time of year.

I missed all the excitement at the Capitol Friday, and I think that literally everyone was here. But I had left work early because I was literally falling asleep between calls. I wish I had been able to be here, it was a huge demonstration. But even after taking a nap, I just didn’t feel up to driving back downtown. I dozed & watched TV all day Saturday. Cleared out the DVR & watched a Covert Affairs marathon. I’ve always thought that show needed more (_many, many_ more) excuses for Chris Gorham to take his shirt off & looks like next season we get them. Yea!

The verdict, of course, makes me sick to my stomach. I can’t begin to comprehend. And calm… wtf? Telling parents of teenagers to be calm when they’ve also just been told it isn’t safe for their kids to walk the street?

There is too much bad happening in this world. I need a wedding to go to. We’ve got to all go over to the orange place & gang up on Bill & Michael & get them to get married. For the public good.

Failing that, I’ll look at Chris Gorham tomorrow, and will try to find out where Revolution is filming so maybe there can be an irl sighting of Billy Burke.

  9. the spiders in the basement assumed squatters’ rights. I just swept up A LOT of bug bodies around the water heater and in the bathroom down there. There is still plenty of spider poop to clean up, but that will wait for another day.

On a more pleasant note, we’re making yogurt today, using our new yogurt cooker for the first time. (It’s the styrofoam cooler and light bulb method.)

  10. Gee I can’t believe it. It has rained every day in North Carolina forever. I keep expecting Wal-Mart to have a sale on arks. 😉

I did this picture a couple of years ago for a friend for her boyfriend who loved eagles and dogs. She never paid me for it so I tweaked it and now have it up for sale on Fine Arts America.

laundromat this afternoon, or buy a couple more pair of slacks and underwear.

    Seriously.

    It’s tempting.

I’m very late getting out the door today.  Just have been especially sluggish since arising.  I can remember when I could get up a half-hour before having to head to work, and manage to shower, shave, check e-mail, dress, pray, and have room to spare.  Now, I get up two hours early, and am late leaving more often than not.

Got the backyard mowed (did the front the other day) which isn’t a big deal since it takes, like, 10 minutes with a reel mower but it was still sweaty.

I did have a good news/bad news realization:  when you lose weight your thighs quit rubbing together but your boobs get smaller, too.

Our 12 yr old grandson is staying with us this week. Last night as I found an extension cord and a 3 prong adapter for the plug strip so he could plug in the bed side lamp and all the chargers I found myself missing the bag of stuffed animals that used to come with him.

I hope he still wants to play with the legos 🙂

Was offline as usual and no paper this weekend so the verdict was a jolt.  A sick and damaged soul was just rewarded for its sickness by a bunch of MSM-manipulated people thus damaging their own souls.  If I didn’t believe in the 10-fold law, well, let’s just say I shouldn’t put in writing at all and especially on the internet what I would be recommending.

We have lived through worse times.  Yes, we’ve lost what we thought was solid ground – sinkholes opening up beneath our feet – on several fronts, but the only way I can survive is to believe (and work for in what little ways I can) that we can regain that ground and make progress towards the day when America really will have “freedom and justice for all!”  Otherwise I’d just curl up into a ball of despair and die.

Good thing I have no social life to endanger with that, since I don’t have a toothbrush or mouthwash here at the office.  (I’ll be remedying that on today’s shopping excursion.)

…over the past four months since surgery. That’s a good thing, except that my “fat pants” are too big for me now, and my older clothes (from before I became inactive) are still too small. And I’m hoping to lose yet more weight, like 20 more pounds, so I don’t want to spend money on clothes that will end up not fitting.

I know, I know, it’s a stupid problem to have, and I’m not complaining, believe me. But I hate being stuck in-between!
