Wednesday Watering Hole: Check In & Hangout for the Herd

Good morning, Moosekind. Don’t forget to let your peeps know where to find you.

The common Moose, Alces alces, unlike other members of the deer family, is a solitary animal that doesn’t form herds. Not so its rarer but nearest relative, Alces purplius, the Motley Moose. Though sometimes solitary, the Motley Moose herds in ever shifting groups at the local watering hole to exchange news and just pass the time.

The morning check-in is an open thread and general social hour. Come back when time allows through the day – the conversation continues.

It’s traditional but not obligatory to give us a weather check where you are and let us know what’s new, interesting, challenging or even routine in your life lately. Nothing is particularly obligatory here except:

Always remember the Moose Golden (Purple?) Rule:

Be kind to each other… or else.

What could be simpler than that, right?

  1. I rec’ed your post, iriti, because I want everyone to see that you and the gang made it safely to Colorado.

Already 68 degrees here and the air-conditioning will probably be going on. It was hot yesterday and peepul were cranky. I can’t take another day of cranky. The temperature will only get to 76 degrees but it is muggy. Storms later.

  2. Glad to hear all’s right with the universe.

It’s all fine here. We have the door open and are listening to the birds. Catbird, as usual, takes honors for composition. The highway drone in the background spoils the mood a little. Higher humidity usually carries more volume.

It’s 73° now and heading to high 80s. T-storms likely this afternoon.

    Coffee…

  3. Hot and humid from North Carolina. Found out last night that the house is split 4 ways and my niece doesn’t get her Dad’s piece. It was written siblings only and if one dies the remaining siblings get that person’s part. I was going to take the money she owed me for fixing her car etc. out of her share and give her the rest. The other siblings are in financial difficulties too so they can’t give her any. I may be able to find a couple thousand or so when finishing up Mike’s finances. I have to tell her today. Not looking forward to it.

I just want to hide in My Secret Garden away from everyone and everything for a while.

would say, the fierce buttons didn’t work for either her or Melanie’s morning wishes but hope they consider themselves fierced, firsted, and fristed by me. It’s sixty five thinking of eighty here. The crows have been screaming all morning. Pleased to see that our Colorado bound Meese got there safely. Hope you all have the kind of day you want.

out there now.  The storms might get pretty strong this afternoon.

Lab results came back less than 100% negative… crap… have to go back in 6 months.

I will be on my way to Ukraine tomorrow afternoon, then on to Turkey, Israel, and Armenia. I will post a photo diary when I return.

We haven’t hit 100 yet, but we will soon. And the heat indexes are already there in the 4-5pm-ish hours.

Eating breakfast, seeing what’s up. Well, delaying the actual consumption of breakfast by dissolving arnica under my tongue. Breakfast is steel cut oats with sundried tomatoes, spinach, shitake mushrooms & nutritional yeast.

I have both the acoustic & the studio version of a song playing in my head. I keep trying to tune in only the acoustic version, but the other one keeps playing as well. Sigh.

I’m going to have to ask to leave work early today. Workout is a bike/run. So I need time to not only go get my bike, but I had brought all my plants & paraphenalia in because of the washing of the building. Guess where most of them are. Oh — and I can’t tell if the washed the building or not.

    Anyway, happy Wednesday everyone.

52°F at the moment, and again only mid-70’s projected.

A dear friend and colleague dropped me off a stack of DVD’s from her collection of indy films this past weekend.  Several, I’ve never even heard of.  I’m going to try to find time to watch a few of them this week.  It was so kind of her to share.

Nothing out of the ordinary to report here.  Still sniffling and wheezing, but I don’t think it’s serious.  An awful lot of people seem to be down with this bug.

in the desert, it will be another hot ‘n muggy day with no prospect for rain. This should clear out today which would lift spirits all around. We’re just not used to dealing with humidity and our evaporative coolers don’t work so well when it’s high so everyone will be glad to see it move on. Grace had a really good day yesterday, she is getting the idea on house training and having more success finding appropriate places to relieve herself. Her fine spirit though doesn’t need any improvement-that is glorious just as it is.

No smoke here, just bad memories of the Waldo Canyon Fire. iriti and trs have gone for a hike at Garden of the Gods, while Khloe and I are blobbing. (h/t to Onomastic for that great word.)

Otteray Scribe loves Black Forest and has many good memories of his time spent there. Hope they use today’s milder weather to start getting lines around that thing.

    And now … coffee time!

I’m glad to be back in the Mon, Wed, Fri morning pool routine, but I have to remember to slowly increase my workout. The combo of being away then being sick really effected my stamina.

up at 3AM – I’m still groggy from effects of yesterday’s root canal, and the trauma of reading Godwinism’s from “progressives”

Very grumpy here in Hudson Valley – overcast day that matches my mood

Guess I’ll have to tear myself away from the intert00bz and go get some. How could I have let such a state of affairs come to pass?

Anyway, since it’s a sunny morning I might as well take a walk. 🙂
