Saturday All Day Check-in for the Herd: Greetings of the Moosekin

Make sure you let your peeps

  know where to find you!

PLEASE Do Not Recommend the check-in diary!

Recs on the Weather Comment are still welcome. 🙂

The morning check-in is an open thread posted to give you a place to visit with the meeses. Feel free to chat about your weather, share a bit of your life, grump (if you must), rave (if you can). The diarist du jour sometimes posts and runs, other times sticks around for a bit, often returns throughout the day and always cares that meeses are happy … or at least content.

On weekends (and holidays), you may find the check-in thread earlier or later than normal because … it is the weekend! Moosies need their beauty rest:

For those new to the Moose, Kysen left a Moose Welcome Mat (Part Deux) so, please, wipe your feet before you walk in the front door start posting.

The important stuff to get you started:

– Comments do not Auto-refresh. Click the refresh/reload on your tab to see new ones. Only click Post once for comments. When a diary’s comment threads grow, the page takes longer to refresh and the comment may not display right away.

– To check for replies to your comments, click the “My Comments” link in the right-hand column (or go to “My Moose”). Comments will be listed and a link to Recent Replies will be shown. (Note: Tending comments builds community)

– Ratings: Fierce means Thumbs Up, Fail means Thumbs Down, Meh means one of three things: I am unFailing you but I can’t Fierce you, I am unFiercing after a mistaken Fierce, or Meh. Just Meh. (p.s. Ratings don’t bestow mojo, online behaviour does).

– Finally, the posting rules for a new diary: “Be excellent to each other… or else

(Some other commenting/posting/tending notes for newbies can be found in this past check-in and, of course, consult Meese Mehta for all your questions on meesely decorum.)

Let the greetings begin!

57 degrees with an expected high of 70. My last full day in Michigan. A day of rushing around and intospection.

Now if I could just quit breaking things…….

Cough is non-productive, but I think clearing up anyway. Can’t stay, gotta run. I have to go interview some prospective new hires at the Sheriff’s Department two counties over. Kidling is off work today, so she is insisting on driving me. Since we are going to the Sheriff’s department, she will probably wear hear BDUs and boots because she says they are comfortable, even though she is off duty. Says she likes the BDUs because the are comfortable. Kind of funny the looks she gets. Cute little 5’3″ young woman looks as if she is a member of the SWAT team.

I heard from shortfinals. It is no secret that he has some health problems, but I will let him share what he wishes. He had a bad night last night. I did invite him back, with the proviso he not try to drive the full length of Tennessee next time.

More later. It is a nice 59 degrees at the moment, and severe clear. Some early summer haze which makes distant mountains look gauzy. When I first started flying, the haze layer was seldom more than three thousand feet thick. Now, one is lucky to break into the clear by seven thousand feet.

head out to the Farmers Market in a few minutes.  Hoping for strawberries.  One of these days I’m going to take a basket and stock up on some of the many, many goodies on offer.  Maybe some fresh trout….

We’re supposed to have a nice warm day here, close to 70° at the beach, mid-70s downtown. I look forward to a good walk.

we got almost an inch of rain overnight! I slept through it but I had turned off and unplugged all the electronics so all was good. Grace was chilled when she got up so she just snuggled into my robe to enjoy my first cup of coffee with me. The cat cooperated last night so she spent the night high ‘ dry in the garage, she was happy to see me refill her food bowl this morning.

but the view out the window appears like another glorious, sunshiny early Summer day.

I was up late last night, so kinda draggin’ this morning.  This often happens when I have an evening service.  It takes me too long to wind down.

So, I’ve gotta chug the rest of my coffee, and head out the door.  I’ll check back in after a few hours.

A great Saturday to one and all.

I’m finally emerging from the land of the sick…..last day of antibiotics and breathing is nearly normal. Now to regain some stamina and try not to feel overwhelmed with all that is waiting for me to attend to.

We’re driving to Edmonds, Wa today for a birthday lunch with our daughter and her family so that will be fun. She will be 45 yrs old on Monday…..how has that happened!

  9. Feeling much better. I’m actually cooking! I had to put a small roast in the freezer last week because I was too sick to eat it. I defrosted it for a couple of days in the fridge. I trimmed off the heavy fat and sinew and then salted it with Kosher salt and wrapped it tight and put it in the fridge to marinate until tomorrow afternoon. I’ll bake it with a Dijon and Italian herbs crust for dinner tomorrow. In the meantime I cleaned up the leftovers and scrapped enough meat off for a beef stir fry for lunch with caramelized shallots and julienned ginger and some vegetables.

I finished this picture last night called Let The Fly.

in the Armstrong Valley.  Expected to get into the 90s today.  Heading out to get some yard work done before it gets too hot.  I want to dig a bed for some berries that have been waiting to get into the ground: I’m trying a raspberry, a marionberry and an olallieberry.

A local nursery has a clearance sale on their remaining blueberry plants.  I’ve never grown blueberries and am not sure where I’d put them, but the vision of pints of fresh, organic blueberries has me sorely tempted…

    Have a great day, ever’body!

That always motivates me to walk further than I would on my own. Plus, I enjoy having the company. I wish you all were here and could go walking with us. 🙂
