Wednesday Watering Hole: Check In & Hangout for the Herd

Good morning, Moosekind. Don’t forget to let your peeps know where to find you.

The common Moose, Alces alces, unlike other members of the deer family, is a solitary animal that doesn’t form herds. Not so its rarer but nearest relative, Alces purplius, the Motley Moose. Though sometimes solitary, the Motley Moose herds in ever shifting groups at the local watering hole to exchange news and just pass the time.

The morning check-in is an open thread and general social hour. Come back when time allows through the day – the conversation continues.

It’s traditional but not obligatory to give us a weather check where you are and let us know what’s new, interesting, challenging or even routine in your life lately. Nothing is particularly obligatory here except:

Always remember the Moose Golden (Purple?) Rule:

Be kind to each other… or else.

What could be simpler than that, right?

Happy Wednesday! 39 degrees this morning, heading for a high of 73 degrees.

trs is off to work early this morning, setting up a ‘roadblock’ where they’re handing out treats and drinks to community members as they drive out to their day’s labors. Which I must do momentarily…

    Teeny-tiny snoutage for Silks.

I’m headed off to the (ugh) dentist this morning.

Just my luck – a great day for gardening and I’ll come home and head to bed.

Did I mention I hate the dentist?

  3. I have been up since 4:30am waiting for the coffee to kick in and for some reason I seem immune to it today.

I guess I’ll just keep sipping until it takes hold. I do not want to start work without brainzzzz.

It is 33 degrees here. The cold front moved in and it will be pretty cold all morning then warming up this afternoon. We should see our first 70s this weekend. They better stick this time!! Next week is May 1st. MAY 1ST!! (That was in case the goddess needs a reminder).

What an adorable snout for slksfca!!

Dad and I have returned from China. I will try to do a photo diary in the next week or two. I am dead tired, but I am headed to work in a few.

  5. where it’s still mostly dark, only 31 degrees (BELOW freezing!) and Son will head out the door soon. He has his fitness test this morning.

He started the morning by grumbling to us how cold it is downstairs. Yes, this is Iowa, not Mississippi. Yes, we don’t keep the house very warm in the winter. Yes, it’s cold downstairs. He’ll adjust.

This is my day this week for which I have nothing scheduled for a particular time. But there’s always plenty to do.

    Have a great day!

  6. Pixie is up and at her spot on the back of the couch and will soon have her report ready on the doings of my neighbors. 😉

I have been trying to perfect this picture for over ten years. The original was lost when a hard drive self destructed. I’ve recreated it a couple of times. Last night it all came together now that I can actually get expressions on my people’s faces. Woo-Hoo! It is called The Gift.

We moved in yesterday after forty eight of the worst hours of my life.  I will explain some other time.  The movers dropped our stuff off last night didn’t finish until almost eight o’clock.  We put the kids beds together and that is about it.  Lots of work this week.

I have had a bit of a jones for the moose herd so had to pop on and say good morning.  I hope you are all well.

    Have a great day.

As Melanie stated – we should hit the 70’s for the first time this weekend.  That’ll be nice.

had it a couple of days ago and Columbia got a bit of the stuff this morning.  It is 33 going to mid-50s today.  70’s for the week-end and into next week.

temps again this morning which is unheard of around here. We should be warming up by the weekend. The puppy is learning so fast, she’s getting close to the puppy pads so she’s at least learned the general area where she’s supposed to be relieving herself. We’ve just about worked through the excessive puppy biting already, that wasn’t a huge problem but she did get some good nips on me while we were learning.

heading for mid 50s today but we’re working out way back to the 70s for the weekend.  It’s been so long since we’ve had a “normal” spring we don’t remember what one feels like.  This is a “normal” spring and we’re all surprised.  ðŸ™‚  The secretary’s out for the rest of the week (I’m the A.A.) so I’ll be soloing in the office.  Not that it will make a whole lot of difference because most of her “special” stuff I haven’t a clue how to do so it will just wait until she gets back but I’ll be covering phones and walk-ins that I normally don’t.  Hope everyone has a good day.  {{{HUGS}}} bf

Katie has found a new game to wake me up with.

Hmmm… can I remove one of her eyelashes with one of my claws?

It’s not as thick as a summer fog but it’s colder. 49°F right now and will only warm up to the high 50s today. I need to remember to call the power company today to schedule an appointment for Friday. They’re turning my gas off tomorrow and I won’t be home for someone to come relight my pilots after they’ve finished. At least this should mean the end of digging up my street. For now, anyway.

…I managed to make it until 10AM without Percocet. At this point the Naproxin is taking care of most of the pain, but not the nerves-on-fire twitchiness.

Tomorrow is my doctor visit and I’m expecting her to give me a MMJ prescription, which will help me a lot in withdrawal.

He was sitting in my side yard when I got home.  I’ve never seen a deer in my yard though they do come down I guess.  I hope she made it back to the mountains.
