Friday Coffee Hour: Check In and Hangout for all Moosekind

Good morning, Moosekind. Don’t forget to let your peeps know where to find you.

Today is a post and run as I am in transit to visit our own Khloe for her birthday tomorrow. I will arrive sometime this morning!

Friday Coffee Hour and check-in is an open thread and general social hour. Come back when time allows through the day – the conversation continues.

It’s traditional but not obligatory to give us a weather check where you are and let us know what’s new, interesting, challenging or even routine in your life lately. Nothing is particularly obligatory here except:

Always remember the Moose Golden (Purple?) Rule:

Be kind to each other… or else.

What could be simpler than that, right?

Greetings from Khloe’s house where I arrived safely an hour ago. Going to sleep now and don’t know when I’ll awaken. Whenever I do, I’ll stop back in.

This is a record of sorts. 🙂

Glad  you made it safely, and please quit updating  your dang diary while I’m typing. It makes teh page jump.

And maybe the other at large but cordoned into area of Watertown, Mass.

    An MIT cop also dead.

    Transit cop wounded.

Have been some gunfire exchanges and explosive devices encountered.

Other police incidents confuse some of situational reports.

Some believe a house to house search will commence at daybreak in Watertown.

BPD releases new pix of Suspect #2, in gray hoodie/sweatshirt.

Residents advised to stay inside and call cops if suspect sighted.

Was a brief news conference/update a few minutes ago but not many press questions answered.

Purpose was to alert everyone how lethally dangerous suspect2 is, and that he is at large. Cops all over Watertown area. No one can get in or out where police perimeter is maintained.

I’m hearing WBZ, mostly, (Boston radio)

Don’t know if MIT cop (didn’t make it) or transit cop(wounded) were shot by bomb susects, but it’s likely.

Bombers detonated explosive devices while being pursued.

Avoid Watertown til all clear given..

off and went to bed.  Woke up at 4:33 am (again), turned on the news and was very surprised to learn what happened overnight in Watertown.  It’s going to be interesting to watch what unfolds with regard to who these guys are and where they came from.

  5. The high winds last night brought in a cold front. Today, snow is in the forecast and overnight lows tonight into the 20s.

news, that the other suspect is killed and there are no more casualities, Hoping for good news of any kind,

  7. Just logged on to see the Watertown news. Very scary.

Thought people could use a serene image for this morning. It has been a horrible week for many.

right now for latest ever freeeze, it’s 31 and will continue to drop for another hour. I watered everything yesterday evening and am hoping for the best. The puppy spent the night in her crate last night, for small dogs it’s important to crate train them so they consider it their safe place. When they’re young it’s very easy for small dogs to get too excited and fling themselves around so crate training is more important for them. Luckily we had a spare I cleaned up for new pup so now our living room is going to look like we’re hoarders! The old dog is coming to acceptance I believe which would make my life a whole lot more peaceful. Now about shaking that feeling that I’ve acquired too many animals-I’ll need some support for the idea that two dogs and a cat isn’t excessive.

We’ve reached our high of 43 degrees already. 29 degrees is what it is expected to drop down to. We are down to only 4 weather alerts. High wind advisory and flood warnings are in effect.

I kept myself awake all day yesterday. I was expecting to sleep last night. When Iriti went to sleep, they had just announced the death of the MIT officer. I spent most of the night watching WHDH and listening to the police radio feed out of Boston. The news junkie in me and all.

I’m not sure what is planned for today. I am sure about one thing …….

As iriti posted above, she made it safely, and was welcomed by Khloe’s cats in a proper fashion.

After the Watertown news last night, this feels a bit inconsequential, but the workshop passed the electrical inspection yesterday with no problem. They’ll notify Potomac Edison, and power will be hooked up next week.

49°F where I am, with a nice warm day in store. Just woke up to the big news from Boston all over the TV. Wow.

  12. I finished picking meat off chicken thighs to make a lovely soup tomorrow. Besides that I have some chunks of ham thawing, which I’ll grind to make ham salad.

Company coming tomorrow, another MOOSE!! (who is welcome to announce herself, but I won’t say who it is without permission). And also Son coming home tomorrow evening, assuming the car is in working condition.

Cleaning, cooking, shopping, sewing, writing… all on the docket for the weekend. If all my dreams come true, my dear friend Lisa will come see me on Sunday, too.

warmer through the weekend.  QC last night was irritating but not bad.  Nobody but me seems to think it’s a problem to combine the special Budget committee (meets up to 3x per week for 3 months to create a budget for the coming year) with the standing Finance committee (meets once a month to deal with expenditures in the current year that weren’t covered in the budget we passed last year because they didn’t come up until this year).  I tried to split them out and got a whole lot of blather I’m not going to reproduce here before they voted me down.  Sigh.  Anyway, everything else passed – including adding 2 new personnel – that Social Worker position for JDC and the special domestic abuse entry clerk for the Circuit Clerk’s office I mentioned when we passed them out of committee – AND the county’s share of a research project regarding P loading crossing the OK border in the Illinois River watershed.  Glad to see iriti made it safely to Khloe’s house – and the mischief will be put off until she gets her sleep out 🙂 {{{HUGS}}} Y’all take care, bf

  14. Two bad things:

    1) a house finch just flew hard into our living room window, killed itself.

    2) Son won’t get back until Tuesday, as his car won’t be ready before then.
