It’s Coffee Time!

For those that are new to the Purple, I would like to welcome you. Have fun taking a look around and checking out the Brewed Awakening’s Coffee Cafe. If you are an established Moose, pull up a barka lounger and grab a cuppa whatever type java suits your mood.

Morning Check In’s are for hanging out and visiting, gossiping, asking questions, and sharing. Please keep in mind that comments do not auto refresh. You have to click the refresh/reload on your tab to see new ones.

Also keep in mind that fierces don’t get you mojo. Being well behaved and following the golden rule does. The golden rule is very simple. “Be excellent to each other… or else”.

Morning Check In’s are also a good place to make a great second impression.

  1. That rooster pic made me spill my coffee all over my desk. Sto-len!!!

Good morning, Khloe … back after I clean things up here.

National (I refuse to call it Reagan, particularly after what he did to the air traffic controllers) Airport. I’m waiting for my flight to Chicago to board, where I’ll get a connecting flight to Peoria. Just thought I’d say hi before the plane boards.

I’m going to see what my feet will let me do. They’re still pretty pissed from Thursday. But I miss my group & want to at least say hi. Then I’ll buy groceries. Hmm, gotta think what to make for lunch next week…..

of braving all the drunken kids along the route of the St Patrick’s Day parade in order to get to the Metropolitan. They have a Matisse show that closes tomorrow and everyone says it is sublime. Kicking myself for waiting until the last minute. But, first, coffee and coffee and then….

Dad, rob, and I are headed out to collect food and donations for the Crisis Ministry later this morning. It is gray and overcast here in central NJ. My students told me that we might get some snow!! again tomorrow. Where’s my spring?

  6. Waiting for the coffee to brew. I need to do my grocery shopping for dinner tomorrow. Finally got through clothes and bagged up 5 bags of things I’ll never wear and a couple more of blankets and dishes that will go to the Rescue Mission. Still need to go through some of the rest of the stuff in the closet and the papers in the file cabinet but that can wait for a while.

Going to get my coffee before L’arpie Michele drinks it all. 😉

  8. Son will head for Mississippi in a half hour, with FFDIL and the gal they drove up with. It’s about 9 hours driving and then they’re going to see Elton John. Long day, fun at the end!

As for us…. basic household stuff. This will be the first day in a couple of weeks that is ‘normal,’ whatever that means.

It’ll be breezy and cloudy all day, so though the temps will be in the upper 30s, it won’t be very inviting to be out for a walk.

decided to sleep next to me last night…. Will have to change that tonight.

Not much planned for the weekend – relax, gather up papers and a few items needed to start the new job Monday.

I am cutting all my hair off today.  We are in active negotiations for the house.  My husband is off this weekend.  He is taking my daughter to a hockey game tomorrow.  We fly out to OK on Monday.  Busy, busy, busy.

“Moliendo Café” is a song by Venezuelan composer Hugo Blanco. It was composed in 1958, when Blanco was 18 years old. Blanco’s version hit #1 in Argentina and Japan in 1961.

The first recording of “Moliendo Café” was made by Mario Suárez. Many consider Cuban singer Xiomara Alfaro’s version to be the definitive Spanish language version. His version peaked at #1 in Peru.[4] Lucho Gatica’s version of the song peaked at #3 in Spain.[5] Mina’s version topped the Italian singles chart and was the #11 track on the end of year chart.[6] At present, the song has more than 800 versions in many languages. In Japan, the song’s title was “Coffe Rumba”. In Indonesia, the song’s title was Kopi Dangdut and was a mega hit song of 1991 in Indonesia. Ricardo Montaner performed a cover of this song on his 2001 album, Sueño Repetido.

off to get more coffee – I’m dragging since I was up almost all night – something I very rarely do.

I love the rooster pic (though I’d love to murder some of mine this morning, since they strated crowing just as I was falling asleep)

31 degrees here – I see snow in the forecast for Monday (ugh)

feathers the next”.  Sunny and 79 yesterday, cloudy and mid-40s today, mid-30s and snow tomorrow.  My sister is doing her usual St. Patty’s day feast tomorrow so all the kids and most of the grandkids will be there.  It will be fun.  Have a happy one too.

it’s so warm here already, we are headed for record breaking heat today. The good news is that the wind has dialed back to pleasant breeze. Yesterday I went with my friend to pick greens and came back with a huge bag. They’ve all been washed and put in ziplok bags, that took over an hour and half standing at the sink so I was ready to pause. Today I’ll cut out the ribs (I do not eat that which is indigestible) and blanch and freeze in meal sized bags. It will be nice to have them once the season is over.

Woke up at 5:30 but was able to coax myself back to sleep until just now. It’s very foggy out, and mild (high 40s). Predicted high downtown today in the mid-60s, and upper 50s in my neighborhood.

    Happy Saturday!

  15. It’s a bit chilly this morning in So. Cal. coming off a week of days so lovely I don’t want to brag.  This week was super fun for Grampy in that my kids dropped their Lord Dracon culinary rules for the boy.  So, I got to feed him milkshakes and Payday candy bars, to that point the sweetest thing the boy had tasted was an apple.

  16. slksfca

Just heard on the local morning news that there will be a parade downtown later today of women in bridal regalia. Name of the event: The Brides of March. Hah!

  17. slksfca

Just peeked out the back door and the sky is now a lovely pale blue. There’s still fog snaking through the Golden Gate just to the north of me, but overhead it’s all sunshiny.

This is going to make a lot of people happy, because our annual St. Patrick’s Day parade (one of the oldest around, I think this is the 162nd year) takes place later today. Perfect parade weather, sunny but not hot. Wish I could be there on behalf of my Irish great-great-grandmother, Emily Fitzgerald (who used to smoke a corncob pipe on the front porch). 😀

  18. dear occupant

another typical gloomy, overcast bitter cold day here on the lakefront..pfffft, i’m in for the duration.

just finished round 1 of birthday celebrations for Little O,

she’s officially a teenager today. ms. o is taking her to her first spa, sauna experience; Korean style, King Spa then after saunas, massages et they sleep there overnight in a huge communal room on futons. there’s a cafe/restaurant on premises that’s open till 3am.

    tomorrow is presents and pie!

    have a great day everyone!

  19. My brother posted this photo in Facebook. I’ve cropped him and his wife out of the photo, but they are holding the quilt my sister and I made for them. We gave it to them just a year ago, as they got married in fall 2011.
