Motley Monday Check in and Mooselaneous Musings

Remember to let your peeps know where you are!

Good morning Motley Meese! Hope your weekend was lovely.

Here’s today’s Motley Monday Shot of the Week. Right now I’ll be throwing in some favorites from my archives, but once the weather warms I’ll post my week’s best shot. Please feel free to join in if you’re a shutterbug.

Oh yeah, and that’s trs doing his Indiana Jones impression. He insists that’s his best side.

The morning check-in is an open thread and general social hour. Come back when time allows through the day – the conversation continues.

It’s traditional but not obligatory to give us a weather check where you are and let us know what’s new, interesting, challenging or even routine in your life lately. Nothing is particularly obligatory here except:

Always remember the Moose Golden (Purple?) Rule:

Be kind to each other… or else.

What could be simpler than that, right?

And now, on with the show…

Headed for a high of 43 today. We are facing snowpocalypse on Wednesday, which around here just means actual accumulation

Herewith my favorite picture I ever took of trs. This was on the Staten Island Ferry, New Years Day 2011.

14 degrees, with a high of 30 expected. I’m very pleased to report that the winter storm expected to hit the midwest this week will be missing my neighborhood. South of my little town is expecting to get dumped upon. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not exactly bragging about it. Well, maybe a wee bit.  ðŸ˜‰

I voted meh, although I really love baseball. Unfortunately, I live in Pittsburgh and the Pirates only deserve a meh. We’ve had 2 years of hope and then they die out. It’s not easy being a Pirates fan.

On the other sports front, I will be going to see my Pittsburgh Penguins tonight with Hubby and my Son, who is home on break from Penn State 🙂

Today will be 34 and partly sunny, or partly cloudy–depending on which weatherman you are watching this morning.

    Have a good day!

  4. WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO 6 PM CST TUESDAY

    * TIMING… LIGHT SNOW WILL DEVELOP THIS EVENING BUT BECOME HEAVIER LATE TONIGHT AND TUESDAY. SNOWFALL RATES OF ONE INCH PER HOUR OR HIGHER ARE EXPECTED AT TIMES. SNOW WILL TAPER OFF TUESDAY EVENING.

    * SNOW ACCUMULATIONS… 6 TO 10 INCHES BY TUESDAY EVENING.

    * WINDS… NORTH TO NORTHEAST 10 TO 20 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 25 MPH WILL CAUSE AREAS OF BLOWING SNOW TUESDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING.

When I was driving yesterday, I noticed that the snowbanks are still pretty tall and that they are very shiny from slight melting and then refreezing. Starting on Thursday, we are forecast to have our first significant string of above freezing days … at least through the 7 days following that.

    Typical winter weather

Mostly cloudy with a chance of snow. High of 37F with a windchill as low as 14F. Breezy. Winds from the WNW at 15 to 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph. Chance of snow 30%.

Headed off to school in an hour.

Wish I could climb back into the bed. 🙂

Moose Land from a 29 degree New York. Alas, we’re not getting any of the snow. We always miss out on the fun. I voted “meh” in the poll but am thinking I should have been more positive. My team is the Red Sox but where I live everyone seems to care about the Mets or the Yankees and that is very irritating. Now on to check the news about the sequester and have more coffee

Saint Charles is cold and hazy this morning with snow starting later today.  By the time it ends tomorrow the forecast is for 4 – 7inches of snow.  Have a great day all.  We are off to the library this morning then home to read our new treasures.

sometime late tomorrow afternoon.  “They” say 4-8 inches worth.  “They” say we’re supposed to get to 40 on Friday.

Last Monday at the ‘old’ job!!!  Found out that this next Saturday is the time change…. ick… Pick a time and stick with it!!!  At least I’ll have a week to get used to it before starting the new job.

  9. Jim and I are laughing, being philosophical this morning. I think we both have a great capacity for happiness, truly a blessing.

Well… So it’s about 25 degrees and as to forecast, what nchristine said.

Last night we watched The Man from Laramie, with Jimmy Stewart. Pretty good, really. I love old movies.

I didn’t get my little quilt top finished yesterday due to being slowed down in a handful of ways. Should finish it today and if I’m really productive, might even get it quilted today. I’ll show you a picture when I’m done.

Heading out this morning to choose new glasses. They’re the last ones I’ll get with any insurance coverage, so they better look/see AWESOME!

Going to take Mom’s clothes to church clothes closet later, then buy some frozen mangoes & make some smoothies. Maybe hang out outside later. That sounds like a full enough day.

…as the herd gathers for morning greetings, steam wisping from large (but so delicate1) nostrils. So far this morning, I’ve noticed myself much more alert and responsive to others than yesterday. And I ask myself if kids and underwear is really such a complicated question. Oh bloody hell. Turns out I need to quit trying to think after akk and head back to my nice, cool bed. This blogging stuff ain’t for delicate constitutions, that’s for sire!

We’re headed for a lovely 88 degrees today. Then a quick cool down for a few days, but I do believe spring is about to jump out in a very big way here in North Texas.

A lot of good things going on today. Oldest son goes for another job interview while waiting for follow up on a couple of interviews from last week. He’s been out of work since Nov. doing odd jobs here and there to keep himself alive. I know it’s been tough I really hope he gets good news soon.

Sharing an inspiring video of a young man with Downs–a successful business owner and giver of hope. Too cool.

looks like Chicago is in the path of THE SNOWQUESTER.

    have a great day everyone.

Yesterday it was around 60. Snowing this morning, isolated snow showers all day (YAY for moisture), 13 tonight, 60 Wednesday and Thursday. Somewhere in the forecast (Sat?), I saw the miraculous word rain.

Good wishes to all and to all a good day.

My friend has told me that I must wear lipstick every time I leave the house. “You’re pale. In fact, your face is white. And with your hair…” I start to shout that it’s silver and I love it, but I hold my tongue. My hair is pale, my face is pale, my lips are pale and I have no eyelashes. Well, maybe a teeny bit, but they’re invisible in the fold of my eyelids.

She has given me a half dozen lipsticks. I’ll pick one and wear it.

Off to buy kitty litter and fun stuff like that before the storm comes.

P.S. Since I’ve been tapering off Effexor I feel way, way better.

This was posted on Twitter and Facebook by Capital Weather Gang. They’re calling the impending Virginia/MD/DC snow event the #snowquester.

Latest GFS model shows significant snow for DC area Wed, but bullseye is NW VA…around Winchester. #snowquester

Iriti and TRS, are you ready? Are home and cabin sealed up and battened down?

made a good catch — I saw a couple of broaches on the lapels of some jackets, one of them is very valuable. The others I’ll give to the clothes pantry next week when I take the rest of her clothes & her shoes.

I’ve got her kindle. Trying to figure out how to use it (hey, if you’ve never used one, how are you supposed to figure it out?)

Going to work tomorrow, will see if I can stay the whole day. I’m really tired. Maybe my brain is re-routing grief to “tired” since that is easier. But I need to do something normal tomorrow & what is more normal than work? I’m even going to pack my gym bag & put it in the trunk – maybe I’ll do normal things all day.
