Motley Monday Check in and Mooselaneous Musings

Remember to let your peeps know where you are!

Good morning Motley Meese! Hope your weekend was lovely.

I’m introducing a new feature this week, the Motley Monday shot of the week. Right now I’ll be throwing in some high favorites from my archives, but once the weather warms I’ll post my week’s best shot. Please feel free to join in if you’re a shutterbug.

The Welcoming Committee

The morning check-in is an open thread and general social hour. Come back when time allows through the day – the conversation continues.

It’s traditional but not obligatory to give us a weather check where you are and let us know what’s new, interesting, challenging or even routine in your life lately. Nothing is particularly obligatory here except:

Always remember the Moose Golden (Purple?) Rule:

Be kind to each other… or else.

What could be simpler than that, right?

And now, on with the show…

    Headed for 46.

Good morning. No weather jar picture today. Posting from my iPhone ’cause I can’t lift my laptop (big old thing and me with a wounded wing).

In the last two weeks’ polls nobody dared fail the kittehs, but no one even meh’d the pups. Advantage canines.

And I didn’t watch the Oscars because I hadn’t seen any of the movies and only know who a very few of the actors even are. ‘Tis always thus with me.

  3. Getting ready to reboot all my computers so I won’t be back for a while.

I am kind of fond of moon photos … in honor of this afternoon’s full moon, last years Harvest Moon:

Sorry to hear that your shoulder is still sore, iriti!!

(still boycotting), but here is something less glamorous, and infinitely more important to watch, to think about, and act on than we usually do:

30 degrees and all is quiet and lovely. The storm we are expecting is scheduled to begin tomorrow afternoon. It has gone from 3-7 to 5-9. However much it dumps on us, be assured I will be shoveling every inch of it at work. With a smile on my face, of course.

I heard a rumor that there will be a pootie/woozle diary tonight on the Moose. The whispers said it would only be published on the purple. I wonder what the pootie are up to.

    In totally unrelated news……

    Iriti,

Is you wing feeling any better?

LONG tech rehearsal last night. Rookie on light and sound boards, and the guy was in over his head. Not the way I wanted to start my time without my immediate supervisor around at work (as I type this, he’s having his ankle fused together).

A photo from last year’s trip to the National Zoo:

wheels fall off.  If we get the 6-10 inches of snow now being forecast I won’t get out of the house until the spring thaw, whenever that will be.  Most of the residential streets are still icy with freezing rain coming first, then the snow.  It took me a couple of hours over two days to get the car cleared and I’m going to have to work up to doing it again.

it’s sunny and around 30 on the lakefront and i’m not venturing out, becoming a hobbit i’m afraid.

here’s a shot i took this past August at 4am

at Holly Creek, Tennessee. we rent a 5 bedroom

houseboat every year, tie up in our favorite

    cove for a week.

i’m having coding problems imbedding a Youtube video. i get a disallowed HTML message. Disallowed HTML tag: < iframe which begins the coding. then when i remove that tag, it says to remove the closing tag and of course then all that will print is the coding. :-[

    anyone have any suggestions?

    Frog on Jasmine 09-26-07

This little guy seemed to enjoy living on a potted jasmine plant on my back potch in the summer. Some of the little green porch lizards have already made an appearance.

Hope all you snowed in, iced in, and cabin-feverish moosies have a great day with dreams tonight of more tropical days ahead!

    Sunny near 40 today

Snow tomorrow.  Going to get my two year old son a haircut today.  This is not a fun outing.  This is an outing filled with bribery and screaming.  Then off to the library for the morning.  Have a great day.

and we’re predicted to see steady wind at 35-40 mph with gusts up to 60. The snow is swirling around and unlikely to stick but the moisture is appreciated. It’s looking like a good day to finish some inside projects. Or even start a new one.

A dreary, drippy 53 here in Ft Worth with the weather to remain depressing while getting a little colder each hour.

Oh well, spring was nice yesterday.

Up at 6:00, a bit early but it could be worse.

    San Francisco weather:

    44°F

    Current: Cloudy

    Wind: N at 0 mph

    Humidity: 85%

Predicted highs in the low-to-mid 60s today.

A busy day ahead what with packing and lots of last-minute stuff to attend to. Make sure the plants are watered. Give neighbor the mailbox key. Stuff like that.

I hope everyone has a wonderful week!

…about the First Lady announcing the Best Picture win. Honestly, is there ANYTHING she can’t do, and with such grace and style to boot? 😀

  15. slksfca

And a lovely dawning it is, with just a few cirrus feathers to mar the perfect blueness of sky I can see out my window. An enormous raven is strutting along the next-door rooftop. I should ask Ojibwa what sort of omen that portends, if any…

I have a new swim suit so maybe that  will inspire me to get to the pool today. It’s very tempting to just stay cozy.

  17. Almost home last night, made it as far as DC before my final light was cancelled, spent the night in Our Nation’s Capital. Nearly 48 hours from the time I entered Doha International one end to another.

  18. slksfca

…hand washing laundry and getting both bored AND sore, and I finally said SCREW THIS, took two or three pain pills, and when they kicked in I dragged my laundry down the street. It was difficult but do-able, and now it will all be washed, dried and folded before 3PM. Wish I’d thought to do this a few days ago, but I’ve tried to be careful about overdoing the opiates.

And I’ve heard from a friend, my former downstairs neighbor, who’s agreed to check my mailbox every few days (he now lives just four blocks away). So he’s stopping by later for the mailbox key.

Cellphone, tablet and Kindle are all charging. I’ve watered the plants and I think everything else is done that I can do, except I need to take a shower with special antiseptic lotion once I’m done with laundry (they’ve told me not to shower tomorrow morning, or shave).
