I really like seeing the changes in the art as the years go by.

This really is my day 🙂

Who/what are you currently boycotting? Mean-spirited people

What do you have to brag about? My teens are good human beings. I would like to think that I had a hand in that.

Are you going to Heaven or to Hell? I am going to LOVE–so is everyone else.

What is the creepiest bug? A big spider. When I was a Girl Scout summer overnight counselor (The summer that would not end) we would get very large wood spiders in our tents. They look similar to tarantulas. We used a broom to sweep them out. We had to check our sleeping bags to be sure they weren’t hanging out there. Girls would scream and we knew they had a wood spider in their tent. We took turns sweeping the spiders out of the girls’ tents.

What is your favorite card game? Uno…With real cards? Rummy.

What would you like to be reincarnated as? Either one of my cats–they have the life!

  3. DeniseVelez

Who/what are you currently boycotting? Donald Trump (and Macy’s)

What do you have to brag about? My roses. When blooming they are simply luscious.

Are you going to Heaven or to Hell?
    Heaven.

What is the creepiest bug? Bedbugs.

What is your favorite card game? Bid whist.

What would you like to be reincarnated as? A dolphin

  4. Who/what are you currently boycotting?

    Macys, Whole Foods

What do you have to brag about?

Well, at age 6 I convinced a mother of a baby that corporal punishment was a bad idea and that it would only teach her daughter that stronger people can force weaker people to do things.

Are you going to Heaven or to Hell?

    No.

    What is the creepiest bug?

    Roaches are icky. Waterbugs too.

What is your favorite card game?

    Bridge

What would you like to be reincarnated as?

    I don’t know

  5. Abra Crabcakeya

rained all night. Tsula gave a few good growls every time the rain fell a little harder. I’m getting tired of this – but then it will quit in mid – April or mid -May, leaving newly planted crops not sprouting or dead at two inches tall. Damn , sund like a farmer , don’t I? I’m not , but a very frustrated fisherman the last couple of years.

  6. Abra Crabcakeya

and the girl with cows by Adrien Moreau. The Strange Peace Of Painter Moreau. That is like an golden oldie of where I live , in general spirit and feel, on most days. Wish I had a pretty milkmaid , and a cow would be nice , too. Then again , there are people who do pay lots of money to have as quite and peaceful a place to live as here. That “painterly effect” I usually strove for with 35mm , why this painter really got it down. Misty , sweet , nostalgia evoking memory with only the beauty and grace , the innocence remaining. I am an old man now.

Who/what are you currently boycotting? anything Koch brothers

What do you have to brag about? being re-elected chair of my county’s Democratic Party, the first time could’ve been a fluke but the second was a confirmation to keep going.

Are you going to Heaven or to Hell? yes

What is the creepiest bug? I don’t find bugs off-putting but don’t enjoy watching the carrion eating ones work. I’ve used them to clean bones though.

What is your favorite card game? cribbage

What would you like to be reincarnated as? a higher life form that is unimaginable in the present state.

Who/what are you currently boycotting? What do you have to brag about? Are you going to Heaven or to Hell? What is the creepiest bug? What is your favorite card game? What would you like to be reincarnated as?

I don’t eat veal, and I never shop at Walmart.  Not conscious of anything else, but I’m sure I’ll get some good ideas here.

I’ve read some “because they’re there” books, like Ulysses and In Search of Lost Time.

Just going to sleep, I hope.

The one that comes to mind is not a bug, but a long, hairy-looking centipede kind of thing.  I don’t know what it’s called.  I’d see an occasional one crawling across the ceiling in my apartment.  One time I was watching one from my bed, and I thought, “Gosh, I hope that thing doesn’t fall now,” and it did.  Aieeeeee!  Well, even that doesn’t top a cockroach, does it?

I like “Pit,” a really noisy, chaotic game.  I’ve got no mind for most of the games played with a standard deck of cards (Poker, Hearts).

    An otter.

Who/what are you currently boycotting? What do you have to brag about? Are you going to Heaven or to Hell? What is the creepiest bug? What is your favorite card game? What would you like to be reincarnated as?

Boycott:  I haven’t been in a Walmart since 2001( it was the only store in my small Oklahoma town) but now I have choices.  I am boycotting a particular mechanic in town for showing Fox News in his waiting room.  Home Depot, menards, BP, EXXON, Georgia pacific products, anywhere that uses styrofoam cups, the cubs.  The list goes on and on…

Brag:  my kids – they are truly awesome, smart, beautiful, funny children.  I am the luckiest mother in the world.

Heaven or hell:  I’ll be dead.  That’s all folks.

Creepiest bug:  in my house – earwig,  in the world – scorpion

Favorite card game:  blackjack at a table full of fun people

Reincarnated as:  my children’s caregiver when they are old. Wouldn’t that be neat to be there too?

  10. Via Chicago

Wow, I love that Hurd painting!

    Who/what are you currently boycotting?

Nothing so official as a boycott but I’ve never been to Walmart or an Oberwiess Dairy. I’ve been avoiding Whole Foods since the CEO opened his greedy trap.

What do you have to brag about?

Nothing at all. I could name drop, though. I once spent the day driving Joe Biden around town when he came to Chicago for some meetings back in the mid-eighties. I was a college kid with dyed-black hair and a dangly earring. I think I probably left the eyeliner off that day. Wonder what he thought of me.

Are you going to Heaven or to Hell?

I don’t believe in the afterlife. But if I’m wrong, I think my ass is burned.

    What is the creepiest bug?

    Spiders!

What is your favorite card game?

    Blackjack

What would you like to be reincarnated as?

    Someone with musical talent

  11. Its the Supreme Court Stupid

of the Girl Guides were both born on this date?  Coincidence?  I think NOT!

    Answers:

Who/what are you currently boycotting? All Georgia/Pacific products (they are owned by the odious Koch Brothers)

What do you have to brag about? I start a new job on Monday

Are you going to Heaven or to Hell? I’m staying here — in Purgatory.

What is the creepiest bug? In Sierra Leone, there were these spider-like bugs which had crab-claws.  Ykies!

What is your favorite card game? Bridge

What would you like to be reincarnated as? A human being (sorry, no joining the Republican Party for me)

  12. anotherdemocrat

first post, finally got around to joining, was going to cross-post something but it doesn’t look like I can yet, so I’ll just say hi

  13. slksfca

Don’t like to think about bugs, creepy or less-creepy.

I don’t expect to be reincarnated. I shall be me, for better or for worse, throughout all eternity. And heaven is in the heart, so I think I’m safe. 🙂

  14. jlms qkw

you must have tipped from orange to purple this week, right?

NFL, Big Oil, Walmart, Whole Foods but I really need good miso.

I didn’t swear at the radio this morning when I raised my voice at it, and my son complimented me.

heaven.  such as it will be.

the sheer quantity of bugs in the american south, including missouri.  volume.

used to play euchre, hearts, and stuff.  before kids.

my kids’ pet cat when my kids are grown up.  lol.

  15. raina

Clone of a Cinnabon, they’re called. First time I used the rapid rise yeast- bought by mistake. Rapid? Hah! Took all day for it to rise a little bit,not doubled, but once I went ahead and baked it, It did rise significantly more. I could only eat half of one roll.

A blog that shall not be named. Well, no not really boycotting, but every time I check in, I’m meh’d out the door.

My daughter. She’s always been a good kid.

    Maggots.

Spider solitaire, on the computer. With a group, Uno.

Me. I can’t imagine being reincarnated with a different family, and I don’t want to.

  16. cassandracarolina

Currently boycotting? Koch Industries products, Home Depot, Hobby Lobby, Macy’s, Papa John’s Pizza, and whoever else happens to piss me off.

What do you have to brag about? Having worked hard all my life along with Mr. Carolina, and looking forward to retiring and moving to our Casa Carolina dream home, thanks to our fanatical focus on rebuilding our finances. We were both divorced, both paying alimony to our exes, while putting his kids through college with no money saved. We we literally taking the coin jar to the supermarket and sleeping on a mattress on the floor for years (in our 40’s). Now we are on solid financial ground. It all started when we did a detailed financial plan instead of the usual New Year’s resolution. We’ve put aside as much as we could. Having a plan makes that soooo much easier. We just ask ourselves if some purchase is worth deferring our retirement by weeks, months, or years. The answer’s always “no!”.

Heaven or hell? Who knows. As far as I’m concerned, our place in NC is heaven enough.

Creepiest bug? Silverfish. They live in drains, and move in ways that only Satan or H. P. Lovecraft would endorse.

Favorite card game? Used to be Tarot, long ago, but that’s way more serious than a game. Now, nothin’ much.

Reincarnation? I used to joke that I wanted to come back as one of my dogs. They got plenty of attention and unconditional love from me.

  18. slksfca

…and this commercial keeps coming on with a phone ringing in the background that mimics my own cellphone’s ringtone so exactly that I’ve reached for the phone three times.

I’m on edge because last time I was scheduled for surgery, last August, they called me on the Friday morning before to first postpone, and then cancel it. I hate being such a Nervous Nellie, but once burned is twice shy I suppose.

Anyway, I’m heading off to the barber shortly and will leave the damn phone at home. THAT’ll teach them. ;-p

  19. Avilyn

I’ll even listen to Warrant later in honor of it 😉

    On to the interrogation!

Who/what are you currently boycotting?  Erm.  Well, Walmart/Sam’s Club generally.  Can’t think of anything else off the top of my head.

What do you have to brag about?   Uhh…. certainly not my stellar memory or my ability to think quick.

Are you going to Heaven or to Hell?   Don’t believe in either; no idea what to expect on the other side.

What is the creepiest bug?   Japanese Water Beetle or swarms of ants.

What is your favorite card game?   Pinochle

What would you like to be reincarnated as?   A cat.

  20. This is actually a good idea:

If anti-gun advocates were like anti-abortion folks, they’d carry large posters with dead kids displaying massive gunshot wounds at protests

       – Hesiod Theogeny (@Hesiod2k11) February 21, 2013

Something like this should be a flop.

In 1983, the notorious Broadway flop Moose Murders opened and closed on the same night at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre.

    Harumph!!

The #FakeRightWingHagelStories meme is very funny. “Replacement Refs” made me laugh out loud.

I feel like Wilma most days, by the way. I only read the news so that others don’t have to.

HAHAHAHA!! My FRIST was completely unintentional. I did not realize he was mentioned in the diary. As I always say, better to be lucky than good.

There … that is certainly enough thinking for one day. Off the grid …

  21. Who/what are you currently boycotting?

    – Chik-Fil-A is still on my shit list (which is too bad because they have those great waffle fries). Less a boycott than an on-going tendency to avoid.

What do you have to brag about?

    – Donna and our kids

Are you going to Heaven or to Hell?

    – Narnia.

    What is the creepiest bug?
