Since 2008 – Progress Through Politics

Tuesday Morning Check-in: Grazings and Greetings of the Moose Folk

Make sure you let your peeps know where to find you!

If you are new to the Moose, Kysen left a Moose Welcome Mat (Part Deux) so, please, wipe your feet before you walk in the front door start posting.

The important stuff to get you started:

– Comments do not Auto-refresh. Click the refresh/reload on your tab to see new ones.

– To check for replies to your comments, click the “My Comments” link in the right-hand column (or go to “My Moose”). Comments will be listed and a link to Recent Replies will be shown. (Note: Tending comments builds community)

– Ratings: Fierce means Thumbs Up, Fail means Thumbs Down, Meh means one of three things: I am unFailing you but I can’t Fierce you, I am unFiercing after a mistaken Fierce, or Meh. Just Meh.

– Ratings don’t bestow mojo, online behaviour does.

– Only click Post once for comments. When a diary’s comment thread gets longer, it takes a bit to reload and the comment may not display as quickly. Clicking the Post button twice posts the comment twice. (h/t Khloe)

– When creating a new diary, remember to choose the Draft option (near the bottom) while you are working on it. Choose the Public option when you want to publish it. (h/t Khloe)

(Some other commenting/posting/tending notes for newbies can be found in this past check-in and, of course, consult Meese Mehta for all your questions on meesely decorum.)

Here is a great link to have open in a tab: Motley Moose Recent Comments

Coffee’s a-brewin and I’m getting an early start to my day. Our current temperature is in the mid-40s and we’ll get to near 60F this afternoon under sunny skies.

Today is Lincoln’s actual birthday. Creating Presidents Day may have been the right thing to do, but I miss having a short month with two national holidays. 😉

and we have a new window. It is amazing what going from state-of-the-art 1930s to the present has done. Our house was designed by engineers who felt free to ignore architechural standards but at least they chose the very best materials. These houses were built by an oil company to house their workers and then to be moved to the next camp so they needed that aditional beefing up the engineers put in. And I like that the proportions are wrong because we have too much window to wall which improves the air circulation and most importantly makes our 1000 square feet appear much larger than it is. It did accoiunt for some shock at the Pella dealer though, we paid almost as much for these windows as we did for the house originally.

Will someone please fix my right shoulder???  Rotor cuff injury from shoveling snow a few weeks ago.  I confirmed last night that if I eat too much chocolate at once, I get indigestion/heartburn for a couple of hours.  I’m not amused by this turn of events.  How else am I to work on my anxiety?!?!?!  I just want the decision done and over with now…..

and in the 50’s. It has been rainy, overcast, or drizzling for the good part of the week. I hope we aren’t using up all our rain quota for the year, leaving us none for the summer. Well, at least the wildflowers are getting nourishment before the spring sprout.

especially on a clammy and rainy day. Had the “Wisconsin scramble” – featuring 4 kinds of cheese, still amazingly fluffy, and topped with chopped chives, plus bacon and sourdough toast. That should hold me until dinnertime. I love going out for breakfast, more than dinner, really.

quick update on moose schwag (shirts, bags, mugs, and misc merch):  i’ve been insanely busy, so i’ve recruited my lovely and talented wife (moose id ‘proudmama’) to help get things rolling while i eek out some time to revise our logos/design stuff. she’s working up a proposal that examines a few paths forward (zazzle, cafe press, among other old skool options) to ensure the best possible deals/set-up/quality assurance/convenience for everyone.  the proposal will be soon be submitted to moose elders for review, consensus, and then we’ll be off the the races.  soon your moose shirt, or canvass tote full of awesome, or whatever, will be the envy of all your friends — nay the world.

in the interim, let’s start brainstorming ideas for next year’s superbowl halftime ad.

I had lots of flower fun yesterday….set up “shop” in my warmer than the garage basement and processed Valentine Day greens for my friends at the flower shop. The combination of moving their shop into the finally finished new space and the big ticket Valentines orders was overwhelming. They have been so nice to me it was good to return the support…buckets of ferns, salal, and boxwood. My whole house smelled fresh and green!

Sorry no translations, but basically the parents are asking their children whether they want a new brother or sister. Boy wants a brother because he already has a sister. Girl wants a sister to play with. They cut the cake to find out the gender. The reaction of one of them, well, poor thing, but so funny.

But, I still have a feeling that I’m going to loose my current job in the next 24 hours….  There’s bickering on their end as to who gets to use what test region when and who’s code goes to prod first….  I’m just getting a really bad feeling.

  13. Been working on updating some artwork. One of my favorite pictures has always been “Morning Has Broken”. Unfortunately I hadn’t been able to update the planet and tree since it kept crashing on my computer. I had an idea today and went to my old computer and transferred that file to disc and brought it over to the new computer. I was finally able to pull it up and fix the couple of “dated” areas. This is the result.
