Sunday Morning Moose Check In – Marvelous Moose Musings

Be sure and let your Peeps know where you are.

They might like to visit periodically.

 photo PeepsPeriodictable.jpg

I would like to welcome you if you are new to the Moose. Feel free to walk around and check out your new digs. Feel free to comment at any time or continue lurking as you will.  Kysen has left us all a Welcome Mat Part Duex to help us get around easier.

JanFab has written out some instructions to help.

The big stuff:

– Comments do not Auto-refresh. Click the refresh/reload on your tab to see new ones.

– To check for replies to your comments, click the “My Comments” link in the right-hand column (or go to “My Moose”). Comments will be listed and a link to Recent Replies will be shown. (Note: Tending comments builds community)

– Ratings: Fierce means Thumbs Up, Fail means Thumbs Down, Meh means one of three things: I am unFailing you but I can’t Fierce you, I am unFiercing after a mistaken Fierce, or Meh. Just Meh.

I would like to add a couple of things to this list:

Only hit post once for comments. When a diary gets longer,it takes a bit to reload. During the time it’s reloading, I find myself wanting to hit post again to make sure my comment is there. Hitting the comment button twice puts the comment out there twice.

When creating a new diary, remember to hit the draft button while you are working on it. Hit the public button when you want to publish it.

Once you create a poll in your diary and publish the diary, the poll can’t be changed.

The most important rule around here is

Be kind to each other… or else.

In other words, if you don’t want it said to you, then don’t say it to someone else. Respect is an important thing. If you feel the need to not respect, then step away and take a breath. Political debate can be both spirited and respectful.

For those of you lurking and being shy, no reason to be nervous. Drop us a comment and start making your Moose Tracks. No time like the present.

I hope all the Moose-icicles are finding it warmer outside this fine morn. It’s one degree outside Casa Khloe right now. Expected to hit a whooping high of 22.

    Your Sunday mornin’ earworm.

  2. 8 degrees here, “feels like” 8, expected high of 15.

You forgot “Meh” in your Superbowl poll. I vote “Meh”.

Good morning, Khloe!! I just got up and my typing hands are not working yet. Back later.

central NJ, and we seem to have had a bit of snow overnight. We are headed to PA later this morning to take Son 3 to lunch. I am not much of a football fan, but I will probably turn on the game in order to watch the commercials. I guess that’s kind of like reading Playboy for the articles.

25 here in Winchester, Va which is balmy compared to yesterday morning but headed for the same high of 34. Light snow over night, the kind of dry but flakes that make the ground look like there’s a light dusting of glitter over the snow. Where’s kirbybruno when you need her?

So I’ve been off the prednisone for 3 days, so I had trs give me back the scale. Some of you know I had weight loss surgery 2 years ago and have actually lost a little too much weight. So I was hoping I had gained a pound or two from the prednisone.

Seriously body? Who LOSES 2 lbs on 9 days of prednisone?

quiet.  Racer and I are having coffee, Sadie continues to improve and all the pooties are looking at their watches as if to ask “where’s breakfast?”.

it’s 12 and feels much colder than that. More snow is on the way as another storm system packing more moisture than the Friday night storm threatens as much as 3 to 5 inches or more of snow as it sweeps across the Chicago area Sunday night and Monday. Yet another snow system could arrive on Tuesday. ruhroh. :-/

this year’s Super Bowl gets an uber meh to fail and i’m a big football fan. (Bears) the endless Harbaugh bros. hype blah blah blah, the endless Ray Lewis hype blah blah blah, and don’t get me started on his past…….might have to watch it with the sound off, if i watch at all.

    it’s 6am, pregame shows begin in 1..2..3

I watch the superbowl commercials online after the game is over.

I may tune in to see the pre-game show – the Newtown choir (wingnut heads are exploding) and Alicia Keyes singing the anthem.

    Or I may not.

I am not a football fan – and my husband has a drumming gig today so he won’t be here watching.

Got an inch of snow and in the 20’s here. Will watch the game until Downton Abbey comes on. I take my British tee vee seriously!

I feel a lazy day coming on today – perhaps reading my book on insulating homes. Speaking of which, Klhoe, how is your place holding up? Do I need to bring tools with me this summer when we stop by?

we are joining some friends to not watch the super bowl and eat party food. My contribution will be something gchaucer posted in a GUS diary-thyme gougeres which are savory puff pastry bites. The only part that is at all difficult is squeezing them out of the pastry bag which requires a quick twist right at the end for them to be attractive. Of course they don’t need to be attractive but it makes me happier when they are.

Here is the 3-legged dog I used to walk here in Texas – he was missing a hind leg. Here he is on a nice summer day in Chicago by the lake. Maybe if you stare at this long enough, your weather will improve 😉

It is 39* here in North Texas and it is supposed to scare 70* later in the day.

Hope everyone has the kind of day they want to have.

  13. DavidW

here in sunny Florida the last few days. Around 55 in the mornings when I get up with highs in the 70’s. Love the Periodic Table of Peeps. I have a poster around here somewhere of a Periodic Table of Desserts. And I vote Meh on the Super Bowl too. It’s traditionally a wonderful day to walk over to the beach during the game because the streets, and beach, are deserted.

Looking forward to the SuperBowl today. Hanging with the friends and getting ready to watch the game. I find watching sports to be a great equalizer. Gives me something to talk about with people of different economic classes.

This year, we’re going to eat healthier. The soda/chips are still here, but so are chopped vegetables. We’ll see which ones disappear first! LOL

  15. I was the only girl with four brothers and my Dad treated me as one of the boys. He taught me to throw a football and I can still out throw any of my brothers because they just weren’t into playing sports like I was. I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. I guess you can tell who I’m rooting for today. 😉

The show wasn’t a big WOW, but it was pleasant enough. And seeing live theatre is always stimulating. My two companions were also former actors, so the three of us had some good dish on the performances afterwards.

It’s sunny and cool here this morning. I may risk going out to lunch today on the theory that the usual weekend hordes will be stuffing their faces at Superbowl parties…

  17. Khloe

Just got called into work for tonight. Yay!! Extra hours this week. The company I would for has cut all our hours to 28 a week, blaming Obamacare. I have to take extra hours when they are available. I’ll stop in this diary when I wake up to visit you. Have fun today!

the embed code as stated in the FAQs should work.  apparently it won’t.

disallowed HTML tag is the error i keep getting.

The two oldest sons, their SO’s and a few assorted friends are here.Mom and Dad have the big screen TV…Which oddly enough was an anniversary present from the two oldest sons last year. Makes one go hmmmmm…lol

We’re doing wings, chicken nuggets, sliders, build your own pizza and other assorted stuff…BUT the kiddos get the front room, spouse person and I are playing Scrabble and watching a boat load of DVR stuff we haven’t had a chance to watch–including Downton Abbey!
