    They don’t have to worry about an election for another 12 months. Now’s the time to enjoy the perks of the job.

    I only discovered in the last couple of days that Michigan has the second highest paid legislators in the country. Talk about overpaid public employees. Any cut in state employee benefits and wages should be automatically applied to legislators. If they want to cut wages for state police officers by 10% then their pay gets cut 10%. If they want to cut the wages of higher education teachers then their pay gets cut. If they want to limit benefits packages then the same should apply to their benefits.

    That actually sounds like a good idea for an amendment to the state constitution. Call it the Shared Sacrifice Amendment.
