Since 2008 – Progress Through Politics

I think that author of this letter to the editor would make a good Moose.

   Dear Pat Robertson,

I know that you know that all press is good press, so I appreciate the shout-out. And you make God look like a big mean bully who kicks people when they are down, so I’m all over that action. But when you say that Haiti has made a pact with me, it is totally humiliating. I may be evil incarnate, but I’m no welcher. The way you put it, making a deal with me leaves folks desperate and impoverished. Sure, in the afterlife, but when I strike bargains with people, they first get something here on earth — glamour, beauty, talent, wealth, fame, glory, a golden fiddle. Those Haitians have nothing, and I mean nothing. And that was before the earthquake. Haven’t you seen “Crossroads”? Or “Damn Yankees”? If I had a thing going with Haiti, there’d be lots of banks, skyscrapers, SUVs, exclusive night clubs, Botox — that kind of thing. An 80 percent poverty rate is so not my style. Nothing against it — I’m just saying: Not how I roll. You’re doing great work, Pat, and I don’t want to clip your wings — just, come on, you’re making me look bad. And not the good kind of bad. Keep blaming God. That’s working. But leave me out of it, please. Or we may need to renegotiate your own contract.

   Best, Satan

The new method of navigating MyDD comment threads?

So, I guess their new system does not allow for New comments to be marked as *[New].

So, instead, here are the new instructions for navigating the comment threads:

Press C to tab to new comments, X to mark as read, and Shift-A to mark all read.

Z will simultaneously mark and tab forward, and R will reply to the comment that has focus.

    Upgrade? Really? o.O

I know of so many Dominicans doctors who tried to go but were denied access by the United Nations (they are the ones dealing with this) because of safety concerns. A lot of earthquake survivors are being treated in hospitals all over the Dominican Republic. My hospital is no exception. The injuries are horrifying and the looks of despair on the faces of these scared brothers and sisters. It’s hard. It has been a tough couple of days and the victims don’t stop coming in. Saturday night the E.R. floor was drenched in blood. I’m talking about people coming in days after they got injured. The “torniquete” which maintained hemorrhage under control also causes necrosis of the distal part of the injury if not loosened from time to time. A lot of amputations. Infection (sepsis) will be a huge killer as well.

I’ll see if I get some videos or pics.
