Since 2008 – Progress Through Politics

Daily Tubes for October 7 & 8, 2009

Attacks from the republican party on Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi are standard fare. However, earlier this week, republicans stepped over the line even for them. More from Huffingtonpost.com

The National Republican Congressional Committee on Tuesday mocked Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) for daring to question Gen. Stanley McChrystal.

“General Pelosi has no problem sacrificing her own credibility as the Obama administration and liberals in Congress attempt to walk back a strategy they strongly advocated just months ago,” said NRCC Communications Director Ken Spain. “Nancy Pelosi continues to make party politics a higher priority than our national security. Rather than listening to a four-star general’s assessments on Afghanistan, General Pelosi somehow believes she is better suited to craft our country’s military policy.”

If Nancy Pelosi’s failed economic policies are any indicator of the effect she may have on Afghanistan, taxpayers can only hope McChrystal is able to put her in her place.

For whatever reason, the NRCC did not criticize Sen. Jim Webb (D-Va.) who called McChrystal’s recent public statement “pretty odd.”

“I think the place for a woman is at the top of the House of Representatives,” responded Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.): “It’s evidence [Republicans] long for the days when a woman’s place was in the kitchen. Now a woman is third in line for the presidency… But it’s not surprising, coming from a party that’s 80 percent male and 100 percent white.”

Speaker Pelosi had this response for Ken Spain and the NRCC.

Is Spain channeling Lumpybag?

Over in the Senate it is SSDD.

Does anyone else think that McConnell looks like a turtle?

John posted this tube earlier in my last diary. He called it the GOP anthem. It seems more like their fight song to me.

The pugs are anti-cheerleaders and Groucho’s song is a very fitting theme song for GOP.

The Onion breaks open another little known crime! Warning for sexual content and brief nudity.

Ew. I grossed myself out.

Speaking of which, she’s baaaaaaaaaaaaack…

Leave it to Billo. He thinks liberals are jealous because Bachmann and Palin give him a hard-on? I hate to break it to you dude, but I have not met one liberal who finds either Backmann or Palin hawt. But you do reveal yourself again.

Headzup got an exclusive with Senator Max Baucus last week.

Max, is that a wad of money in your pocket, or are you just happy to see your buddies from big health insurance?

I have Michelle Bachman and Mary Hartman confused?  Some circuit in my brain just keeps firing 1976 whenever I see her speak.

but was having trouble with my internet connection.

I thought I would let my fellow Moosers know I believe we have an actual moose living near us. Over the past week or so, we have been hearing a very large animal outside (at night) who makes a strange (and very loud) harrumphing noise I have never heard before. When I described the sound to local friends, they immediately identified it as a moose. It has been raining and very cold lately, which is ideal moose weather. When it clears up, I plan to look for tracks.

How cool is that? I have a camera near the door in case of an actual spotting of the creature.

Also, the other day I was letting Maddie out for her morning pee and we heard a tremendous noise on the roof of our house. I looked up and saw a golden eagle taking flight. S/he flew over us and up the river. Now some may think this is not remarkable in Minnesota. But whilst we have plenty of bald eagles, golden’s are very rare. Even more amazing to me, is every where I go and live, I see golden eagles since living in Minnesota.

First wolves and golden eagles, and now a moose! I really love Minnesota. Stay tuned for more moose news dear ones:~D

Because we got several inches of snow last night. It is beautiful but a bit too early. I was mowing and planting tulips yesterday and now it is winter.

However, it will probably be gone tomorrow and I can get back to some yard work I still need to finish.

We are out and about running errands today, and hope to have Fridays tubes finished tonight. Have a beautiful day everyone!
