Since 2008 – Progress Through Politics

In what kind of world do you want to live?

I have never thought that this world was the correct one for me. When I was little, I was told what I could and could not do because of my gender  My landlady despises me, I am fairly certain that a former boss hated me, and throughout my life various others have chosen to dislike me; all when they find out that I am a lesbian. I can always tell the moment it turns.

I see people treated differently because of the color of their skin and so many can never reach their goals because they simply do not have the means to get there.

We can try to imagine what it would be like to be another race or gender, but we can never really understand the experiences and consequenses of being different. I will never know what it is like to grow up and live as a man or a person of color or share my life with a man because I am a white lesbian.

So few benefit as the many suffer, and much of the benefits we do receive, come at such a devastating cost to our world.

I actually believe that individuals are generally good. I have seen this over and over throughout my life. I have also met asshats, but they are actually far fewer than one would imagine.

Problems seem to occur more often when groups of people get together and decide that they are better than someone else.

Funny thing is that great things can occur when groups of people get together and work to help others.
