Since 2008 – Progress Through Politics

McCain gives his Concession Speech on SNL (really) / 538 vs. Zogby – Developing …

I’m back to writing …

in my mysterious and sexy way.

McCain was fucking hilarious!

We’ve got Nate Silver and Zogby going at it.

You know what that means….

Fun times all around!

So let’s get to it.  +_+

For those still not sure about the McCain skit.

Here’s an appetizer.

FEY AS PALIN – “So instead of going to one of those elite department stores with their liberal agendas and over-priced items and their gotcha return policies that violate your First Amendment rights, why not do your holiday shopping with us? (SHE turns to a different camera) Okay, listen up everybody, I am goin’ rogue right now so keep your voices down. Available now, we got a buncha’ these ‘Palin in 2012′ T-shirts. Just try and wait until after Tuesday to wear ’em okay? Because I’m not goin’ anywhere. And I’m certainly not goin’ back to Alaska. If I’m not goin’ to the White House, I’m either runnin’ in four years or I’m gonna be a white Oprah so, you know, I’m good either way.”

MCCAIN – “What’s going on over there, Sarah?”

FEY AS PALIN – “Oh…just talkin’ about taxes.” (SHE winks)

Watch and try not to laugh.

I don’t know how happy Palin is going to be about it. Has a Presidential candidate ever participated to such extent in the public mocking of his VP choice? She was demolished (Tina Fey owns her) . You can tell McCain knows he’s going to lose. Three days from the most important day in McCain’s life (and he’s been married twice). You’d think he’d have something better to do than make a complete ass of himself on network TV.

The entire premise of the bit just does not put McCain in a favorable light.

He did this because he’s desperate for attention.

Desperation doesn’t win elections.

I’ll betcha Zogby will find a post SNL “bounce” for McCain.

(sorry, couldn’t resist)

Speaking of Zogby (the Drudge whore) …..

…… remember this?

Drudge Siren

ZOGBY SATURDAY: McCain outpolled Obama 48% to 47% in Friday poll. He is beginning to cut into Obama’s lead among independents, is now leading among blue collar voters, has strengthened his lead among investors and among men, and is walloping Obama among NASCAR voters. Joe the Plumber may get his license after all…

McCain IS doing this. McCain IS doing that.

THIS is the reason Zogby has no credibility. It’s not that Drudge took a one day sample and made it out to be something it wasn’t. It was the pollster himself, who should know better, that intentionally misled in order to get some wingnut love.

So of course. He gets called out on it.

Michael Buffer

Nate Silver (poblano) from 538 had this to say about his (Z’s) latest Drudge outlier.

Matt Drudge is touting the results of a one-day sample in a Zogby poll, which apparently showed John McCain ahead by 1 point.

Drudge is cherry picking?

Secondly, the Zogby polls have been particularly volatile, because he uses nonsensical party ID weightings, which mean that his weighting process involves making numbers doing naughty things that they usually don’t like to do.

shady poll

Zogby’s credibility has been going downhill for some time and this last poll (and the reaction to it) could be the final nail in the coffin.

So what does he do?

UTICA, New York — After a strong day of polling for Republican presidential candidate John McCain on Friday, Democrat Barack Obama experienced a strong single day of polling on Saturday, retaining a 5.7 point advantage that is right at the edge of the margin of error of the Reuters/C-SPAN/Zogby daily tracking poll. The race has remained remarkably stable down the stretch, this three-day rolling average poll shows.

But how?

Pollster John Zogby: “Obama has consolidated his lead over McCain. His single day lead today was back to 52%-42%.

Bwahahahahaha! You can’t make this shit up.

Obama got the numbers he needed to hold “stable”

A little late for that Z.

Instead of eating some crow and feasting on some humble pie he goes there . Seems he has a problem with an amateur blogger and wannabe pollster who has 10 times the sway and respect than The Great Zogby.

Of course, he comes off as a bigger fool.

(emphasis mine)

“Remember, as I said yesterday, one day does not make a trend. This is a three-day rolling average and no changes have been tectonic. A special note to blogger friends: calm it down. Lay off the cable television noise and look at your baseball cards in your spare time. It is better for your (and everyone else’s) health.”

I’m John Zogby, and I approve this bullshit.

  1. NavyBlueWife

I just finished watching it, and you beat me to a diary!  I thought that McCain was really funny!  And Cindy has finally found her true calling…anyhow, it seems that he really has a sense of humor, albeit small, but maybe he was happy to let someone else rip on Palin and he could play along!

  2. I can not wait until the election is done and McCain can stop having to bend over for the religious right and extreme factions of his party. It is his bed and he made it, and it killed his shot at he election, but the sooner he can go back to being the pre-Bush John McCain the better off everyone will be. I still won’t agree with him 80% of the time, but I won’t hold a festering ball of rage in my belly for him either.

Thank go he wasn’t this relaxed and on during the whole campaign, it would be a real nail-biter then.

Reminds me a lot of Bob Dole, his campaign sucked, but the guy, post-election, was actually pretty darned funny.
