Rasmussen and R2K This Morning: Obama at 52%

Wowzer.  For the first time, Rasmussen pegs Obama’s support at 52% and now matches what Research 2000/Daily Kos has been saying now for a few days:

Obama 52

McCain 44

Perhaps even better is Rasmussen’s comment:

This is the highest level of support ever recorded for Obama and is his largest lead of the year. It also continues a remarkable twenty-five days in a row where the Democrat’s support has never declined by even a single point.

Meanwhile, Research 2000/Daily Kos reports the race looks like this:

Obama 52

McCain 40

Comments dkos poll guru DemFromCT:

This is not a good year to be a Republican.

We at Motley Moose concur.

    Didn’t it?

Conservative New York Times columnist David Brooks, also appearing on Face the Nation Sunday, doesn’t believe a negative campaign can be successful.

“They don’t understand how the same political tactics that they’ve used before, going after liberal, liberal, liberal, that’s not going to work now because something has overshadowed it,” Brooks explained. “And that overshadowing, that economic anxiety is just going to dominate the next five weeks. There’s no way around that. And if they’re not touching that, then they’re not touching the core issue. And John McCain has not done it. And he hasn’t done it over the weekend, where they’ve been attacking Obama for being too liberal or not loving America enough.”

If we weren’t going to hell in a shared handbasket I’d be amused at the dual issue pro-life/sanctity of marraige voters from 2000 and 2004.  Gee, that nothing else matters attitude sure worked out for us all, eh?  Just as many abortions and gays and God seems poised to teach us all some very painful lessons.  Hmmm.  Weren’t we supposed to be blessed for reelecting George Bush?  With blessings like this who needs curses?
